The momentum WILL be lost IF WE ALLOW IT. I understand that this is a blow to the progress made thus far, but is also an opportunity to expose how the system treats us. And trust, it is being exposed.

Even right now, all kind of reporters and news outlets are wondering "what the hell does this robbery have to do with Mike Brown's murder?"

White people believe we are potential criminals whether we are or not. That's why it means nothing to them when a Black man is executed in the streets. They feel it's justifiable because "he's a potential criminal".

That must change. Even if Mike Brown stole those cigarillos, HIS LIFE IS STILL VALUABLE.

This is one of the best opportunities I can recall, to force a change in the system because we are dealing with some bumbling idiots in that police force and the local government. They think they can hide shit like in the old days while not realizing that this truly is the information age and that the spotlight is on them.

Their prejudice is out for the world to see, and we will see some positive change IF we don't succumb to the trickery.

WE HAVE TO TEACH AMERICA THAT EVEN IF A BLACK PERSON HAS FLAWS, THEY DO NOT DESERVE DEATH ON SITE. If a black person is not in the process of killing or hurting, then they don't deserve death.

That's basically the root of the problem anyway, they are SCARED of us. Don't be discouraged though because we have a great opportunity here...

"When you commit a crime, I can't complain or cry about how you get handled with by the law for the crime you committed."

The way you are stating it is that regardless of the crime you commit any action is acceptable.

Strong Arm Robbery is not a crime deserving of death.

If you are a young black male and you already know cops are suspect don't put yourself in a position to have to answer to them because you don't know what actions may take place.

If a cop runs up on me and tells me get the fuck out the street, I am getting my ass out the street and I can be pissed at home. I will not get in an altercation with someone with a gun because of something they said.

victim. When the victims name was sullied, the script is now being re-written and like another member
stated, there is a good change the cop will get off. That's all I was saying. Big changes was about to
happen, but now I don't know.

House Democrat Unveils Bill To Demilitarize Local Police

Georgia Rep. Hank Johnson proposed legislation on Thursday aimed at demilitarizing domestic police forces, amid national criticism of heavily armed cops going after protesters in Ferguson, Mo.

"Our main streets should be a place for business, families, and relaxation, not tanks and M16s," the Democratic congressman wrote in a "Dear Colleague" letter to members of Congress. "Unfortunately ... our local police are quickly beginning to resemble paramilitary forces."

The Stop Militarizing Law Enforcement Act would prevent the transfer of certain military-grade equipment from the Department of Defense to local law enforcement agencies. That includes some automatic weapons, armored vehicles, armored drones, silencers and flash-bang or stun grenades.

Johnson boasted endorsements from the Friends Committee on National Legislation, American Civil Liberties Union and Defending Dissent Foundation.

"Before another small town's police force gets a $700,000 gift from the Defense Department that it can't maintain or manage, it behooves us to reign in the Pentagon's 1033 program and revisit the merits of a militarized America. I hope we can work together on this important issue," he wrote to colleagues.

Johnson will formally introduce the bill in September when Congress returns from summer recess, his office told TPM.

Can someone explain to me why is seems like a party is going on in Ferguson?

On tv they showed areas that were festive in memorial and others that were more conservative with protesters marching and chanting. I have no problem with either. The community seems together with a common purpose. Thats whats important here.

Also they are impacting business. There are a lot of white people that are totally avoiding being anywhere near that area. They are having an ECONOMIC IMPACT until some shit gets resolved.

It may look a little unorganized, but that's ok. We're just beginning to learn how to affect change via strength in numbers.
