Damn man...putting the mercy rule on em. Paintin them corners like maddox. I always wondered what league you needed to be in to get to the world series cause I played in Babe Ruth back in Oakland and we had some true squads...just never got any love.

I played at Greenman too.... I used to love when LargeBillsOnly pitched cuz we were bound to hit a few across the street to the projects.

Back in the day,Oakland won to the National Championship every year and met the President.I remember the very best players would come out from North Oakland Little league and be average when they played with babe Ruth players. Remember when Danville went to the Little League World Series? That same year oakland won the babe Ruth National Championship. They tried to put together a game between the two but the Danville coaches were not having it.The sad thing is that as talented as the Babe Ruth players were, the street life or school ended up keeping them from going to the Pros.

Man, yeah those were the days. Play in the morning and then get some nachos and watch the afternoon game. One of the greatest moments of my life was getting my name called while I was at-bat on the main field man. Yeah I played in North Oakland for one year. I was absolutely balling. Knocking shit to the fence at Montera and going yard at Caldecott. Just wasn't the same. Those were my classmates but all of my boys were playing at Greenman or Defermery

LLWS is it's own league, not all parks run LL. Down in Georgia it used to be Dixie Boys and Dixie Youth and they have a World Series as well.

You probably played for weak ass Gallagher and Burke

wished you were a Kappa or Clean Scene or Allen Temple player

I more than likely trotted around the bases if you played pitcher, I never pitched

I aint gonna front, I got into Baseball real late and was sorry. My team was the absolute worst. I think i'm older that you because I do remember Gallager and Burke, but they were a few years below when I played. Were you in the same age as Jimmy and Ray?

I'm a little younger than them but I've played against them.

Gallagher and Burke...there was the good Kappa with the black and white kids and the bad Kappa with just the black kids

Pal

Clean Scene

Allen Temple

Crowell

lol

i can go on and on.

I recently heard that Oakland doesn't dominate in Babe Ruth anymore. I heard participation got real low.:smh: Sad because I remember being in awe of how talented those cats were.

LLWS still have teams throughout the State of Georgia as well. Columbus GA won it all in 2006, and Warner Robbins won in 2007.

Lol...yeah the bad Kappa was also "West Oakland Kappa"... I played with them mostly. I also played with Kappa II but that was with cats that ended up in college and pro minor league ball. I ain't ashamed to say I got no burn..lol. Took my ass right back to Kappa I. We didn't win much but we had hella fun and talked a gang of shit...

It's so many leagues and tournaments man, a lot of good athletes fall through the cracks because they don't play at the right parks :smh:

man it was competitive... wasn't no you gone make the team cause you try out.. and wasn't no you gonna play a lot because you made the team... wasn't no rules about how much a kid has to play..especially in minor/majors/prep

that's how it should be.

you wanna play? work harder.. when i was in minors i couldn't hit live pitch for shit. i put in the time at the batting cages and by my own self throwing the ball off of the garage door and making contact when it came back to me for weeks..

good life lessons
