Stoops said fuck you and the SEC

The start of the college football season is still a month away, but University of Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops seems primed and ready for his Sooners to take the field.

Stoops had plenty to say on a wide array of topics during a visit to ESPN in Bristol, Connecticut, on Wednesday. ESPN's Brett McMurphy documented some of Stoops' comments, many of which could be viewed as shots at the SEC.

The Big 12 scored a major coup last season when Stoops led Oklahoma past heavily favored Alabama in the Sugar Bowl. Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban has tried to downplay the surprising 45-31 loss by claiming that his team didn't view the game as an important one, according to McMurphy:


That understandably caught Stoops' attention since it essentially detracted from what his team accomplished. Stoops fired back Wednesday by claiming that Saban's comments were disingenuous:

I big point Stoops made and I agree with is that (1) the Sec teams don't play each other only 8 conference games, and 4 cupcake games unlike the Big 12. (2) The Sec non conference schedule is really soft, I know most college non conference schedules are to get ready for the season but come on, teams like Lamar, Costal Carolina, VMI, that's like a high school freshman team playing against a college team. (3) How can you be a conference champ when you don't play everyone in your conference. (4) look at the record of theses SEC teams against the rest of the SEC teams Alabama, Georgia, Auburn, Lsu and Florida.

I would say that the program that Saban currently run is better based off Saban actually winning more titles but I could easily argue that the OU defense while Stoops has been there is better than anything Saban has had while @ Bama. Not recently but when the other Stoops brother was there and when they had Gerald McCoy, Dusty Dvorcheck, Dany Cody, Tommie Davis.
