The Walkman Is Back..It's Only $700!!! FOH Sony

W/cloud storage & micro sd cards, this shit is definitely obsolete.

Not really tho because songs files at 24 bit 192 kHz are very large. I think this new trend is quality over quantity driven. Just like the vinyl resurgence. I'd rather have a 100 songs ( of choice) that could "drive me to tears" sonically speaking vs listening to the shitty sounds of spotify or xm radio on a long road trip. We've still got a ways to go until something like unlimited mobile XLTE streaming will become affordable. Streaming hi res would kill your data usage. One 3:30 min song could easily be 350mb. I'd much rather have that stored somehow.

If it's that's simple, why haven't they already done this? Are you saying a multi-billion dollar corporation doesn't have the personnel or capital to market a product they have already invested a considerable amount of money in? Like the 14 billion Samsung spent on marketing last year? Oh, wait. Send them japs a PowerPoint and make yourself a rich man.

u'd be surprise how big bizzness over looks the simple things when it comes to bizz..by the way how many rappers, athletes, actors, singers u seen post pics with this????????the fact dat this is ur first time hearing it shows that sony hasn't done that simple thing that i said

I had this bitch back in the day. That Mega bass boost was the shit!

Most likey you paying for the digital to analog converters in that bitch. That could add 300 or 400 dollars alone. This product is not for the casual listener. Mostly seasoned musicians. Audiophiles and vinyl snobs.

yeah I hear that, thats where I think they fucked up, the average american is not a studio engineer or a collector of classical and jazz music.

I just dont see folks carrying that in addition to a laptop, tablet, phone on
the airport...

but then again... muthafuckas love showing off at the airport..

its going to be interesting but I aint purchasing no sony stock soon, definitely not based off this info here...

even if they get dr dre to put his woman beating endorsement on it...

make it plastic, cut price by 2/3 and I'm in. ipod sucks ass but it's really the only option for large music collections

Also I must add, the average listener has never heard 24/192 yet alone 24/96 on a personal device or in a car, if at all. A whole generation has been listening to compressed music devoid of dynamics or ambience for well over a decade now (mp3). I personally think most human ears would prefer hi res, they just aren't exposed to it or educated enough to know what they are missing. I work in 24/96 or 24/88 everyday and I can tell you that that even sounds like shit compared to 24/192. I heard Areatha Franklins "respect" in 24/192 two months ago on some 45,000 speakers. I kid you not I could hear the fucking wood molicules resonating in the snare drum!!! . The fucking song sound like I was sitting in the same room with them back in the 60's. All other digital formats I have heard sound like they have a blanket over the speakers and VERY FLAT and boring in comparison. It was a very emotional experience. Much more than just "listening to a song". I think apple is up to something because they bought "Beats by dre". When apple goes high res this shit will become sought after by the masses initially as a status symbol, then it will become the consumer standard to follow. (2 cents) I heard beats was working on some kind of streaming service before apple bought them, it will be interesting to see what apple does with it.

I had this phone almost 10 years ago and they were using the same marketing scheme "the Walkman is back!!!"

i remember when beats was comin out and i heard who still rocks them big ass headphones..nigs ain't gonna walk around looking like dj's juss to listen to music..than them nigs had a bunch of celebs wear them and the sheep started to follow..if they do the samething with this product the sheep will follow

Sony on that if we set the price high people will just buy it because it's expensive bullshit

I have no idea how people became such sheep for expensive garbage. I missed the bus on that. I hate Apple stuff. Didn't like the iPod I had and I sold it. I haven't bought anything else Apple, no iPad no iPhone

there was a malfunction in the matrix and big bizz got a hold of it and exploited it..it use to be them trying to sell a quality product and consumers buying it cause it was..now its if u don't have my product no matter how shitty it is ur a loser and the consumer responds by saying i'm not a loser so here goes my money..twilight zone shit

bad price point, but decent concept. However, seeing as most people can't tell the difference between an mp3 and uncompressed audio.... only sound purists would really be into it.

that ponoplayer is shaped really dumb

Yes it is, but I want mostly for my car. I'll deal with the dumb shape just to be an early adopter. I'm sure they'll come out with a more pocket friendly shape. A lot of ppl hate the shape...

That's because most formats suck. They might not be able to explain the difference, but they would be able to "feel" the difference btwn mp3 and hi res. if it were video the difference would be more drastic than 720p vs 4k. I'm sure most people would find watching the same movie in 4k more enjoyable even if they didn't know why. We've got to upgrade the audio standard eventually, mp3 has been in vogue for 15 years now, since the napster days.

Sony is funny.

Why but this for $1000+..................

sonypersonal3dviewer02.jpg

when I can get it for $50 or less?

I do believe people are capable of hearing the difference, I just don't think most are appreciative to the differences nor are there ears trained to fully recognize it. I agree with the general gist of what you are saying tho.
