Yeah - that card is shaping up nicely at the moment. Believe some of the other fights include Cruz/Mizugaki and McGregor/Poirier, amongst others √ - Puts Gus in a tough place too as he's dealing with the injury ... and IF DC can pull off the victory over Jones ... there'll be an automatic rematch in place in the first half of 2015 or so. With Jones having been champ for 3+ years now with numerous title defenses along the way.

We haven't seen Cormier have to dig deep yet. We have seen it with Jones. I used to question Jones on his heart. I don't anymore. Cormier just seems like has a warriors spirit. Man I can't wait to see this. May the best man win.

Word. No disrespect to DC, but he hasn't faced the level of competition, especially under the pressure of title defenses that Jones has. Mir is washed up and that went to decision. Roy Nelson is basically a journeyman punching bag at this point who can still punch, but is more known for being able to take a punch. Patrick Cummins... And Dan Henderson is not only old, he's just a TRT'd up middleweight surviving off one punch.

On the other hand, @ the list of high level competition Jones has beaten, often easily. And his toughest fight proved the one thing most people questioned: his heart, if he got caught in a war. There's NO way to say DC doesn't stand a chance. That would just be crazy talk, but I'd put my money on Jones, because there's more evidence of his supremacy in the octagon than there is for DC.

I would love to have seen DC against Gustafsson, Rashad Evans, Anthony Johnson or even Glover Teixeira before he challenged for the title, but I have no issue with him getting a shot. Either way, this fight should be bananas.

So you are holding that against D.C. and it's really not a solid point. Jones only really had trouble with Alexander and that's because he finally met someone that his reach advantage wasn't an advantage on and he could get hit a lot. D.C. like Jones is an undefeated fighter that has been through solid guys and some not so solid just like Jones was when he started his run to the title. Shogun wasn't Pride Shogun when Jones got that belt..and you can go on and on with that shit. D.C. has been through Heavyweights like Bigfoot and Josh Barnett and remained undefeated and that ain't shit to sneeze at. He is a gifted Olympic caliber wrestler. Usually I would say based on reach, unorthodox striking and a Greg Jackson game-plan alone Jones should make it through this fight. But from what I have seen of D.C. I don't think he will go in and fight not to lose like Rashad..I don't see him getting man handled and choked like Machida..in fact if D.C. gets a couple of hits off like Machida did in that first round Jones is in trouble. I'm giving D.C. a real chance based on two things. 1. Jones does not have real knockout power and certainly doesn't have 1 punch K.O. power so he won't have that to rely on when D.C. tries to get inside,and I don't think Jones can circle out or back away for five rds. 2. D.C. trains and hangs in there with Cain on a regular basis. Anybody that knows the kind of skill and pace that Cain sets knows that experience alone is a lot better than most of the experience Jones gets in his fights where his opponent is in over their head anyway.

No big guy has the cardio of Cain, I was saying he trains with that animal, so he should be ready for any fighter as far as going hard for 5 rds if need be.

UFC champ Jon Jones unconcerned with cut sustained over eye

UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones recently suffered a bad cut above one of his eyes that required stitches. That's a problem because he is scheduled to defend his title against Daniel Cormier soon (Sep. 27) and a cut that serious will surely mean Jones will have to miss lots of contact work in training so as to let it heal and be ready to sustain punishment come fight night.

Almost any other fighter but Jones would have kept such a big chink in his armor secret leading up to a fight. Instead, the cocky champ posted a video of himself getting stitched up (above).

Cormier responded to the news and visuals by promising to dig into that cut on Jones' face. "September 27th I'm gonna put so many of these on ur face @jonnybones. I can't wait everyday I'm dreaming and thinking of you. And I'm gonna take u down and grind my elbow into that cut you got today. Put a bullseye on that thing. Some things should remain private. DC," the challenger posted, on Instagram.

Jones then issued his own replies on Instagram and Twitter, which framed this cut as just the latest in a long list of obstacles and challenges he's faced and then conquered throughout his young but already legendary career. "'His hands are too fast.' 'His Jiu Jitsu is too good.' 'His wrestling is too good.' 'He's too fast.' 'Too experienced.' 'Can't beat his Karate.' 'Can't beat his timing.' I've literally heard everything. Everything," Jones said in a video clip posted on Instagram.

Then, in a taunt directed specifically at Cormier and his first two opponents at light heavyweight, Jones tweeted that he's cut from a different cloth than his opponents and others in the division. "I can't wait to see the look on Daniel's face once he realizes that I'm nothing like Dan Henderson or Patrick Cummings (sic)," the champ posted.
