~*~2014 NBA OffSeason Thread - Free Agency Starts - 7/1 12am ~*~

I'm not saying LJ to Cavs is done deal or I know 4 a fact; just my gut feeling based on many conversations I've had around this story...

Rumors. Like I said until he meets with another team in which he has not yet

right you just wanna see what you wanna see...then him meeting w/ miami is also a rumor @ this point since he hasn't done it yet

Then why haven't they offered it to him?

The players are waiting to see what type of roster can be put together.
They're waiting to see what it will cost for a roster to be out together.
So I'm guessing once something is said, a meeting have taking placed...

I'm just assuming that's the process

Then why haven't they offered it to him?

They have a cap hold on him for 20 mill.. He's gonna get max or near max from the heat...

I see you don't understand how free agency works.. The hold is money out of the cap set aside for him.. If they can sign Gasol first at 10-11 mill and Deng for 8 then it will allow the heat to rework the numbers where Bron will get the lions share of that cap while bosh will take slightly less at 13-15 and wade taking 10.. But he honestly should take 8.

Yeah I guess I don't because I thought they had holds on Bron, Bosh and Wade and the only way to get them out is to lose their bird rights.

Don't you kind of know though? You can at BEST find someone to take 8 million or so.......

you just can't sign over the cap. It does not work that way. You have to have cap space to sign a player

plus we don't need big time free agents. Never have

this is not true..a team can be 40mill over the cap if they want..big market teams would do this all the time; but because of the stupid new cba, teams will be penalized alot heavier if they go over the cap; miami can over the cap if they want, just like any other team; they would just have to pay for it...

That ain't Gilbert's plan breh

That plane took off from Pontiac MI and landed in FT Lauderdale..

Do Dan Gilbert live in Pontiac MI or have his corporate office out there?

I'm telling you these sports reporters starving to be the first with anything even if it's a straight up lie smh

Dan Gilbert owns Downtown Detroit. Quicken Loans is Headquartered in Motown & dude owns a part of the skyline of Detroit.

-------------------

Melo , K Love, & Kobe was running at UCLA this weekend.

Melo for the $96 to LA, resign Pau, package the Kentucky kid & Pau to Minnesota for Love.

or

If Bosh ( Who has a house in the Palisades, its not listed on MLS no more) is willing to take less. I think the Lakers can offer in the $70'z after signing Melo.

Where is Killa who knows the salary cap numbers ?

NBA Report: LeBron decision, perhaps owner's plane, up in air

-- Social media exploded Sunday with a Twitter report Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert was headed to South Florida on his private plane. Then Gilbert said he wasn't on the plane. "Sorry folks, but enjoying weather in my backyard today," he tweeted.

-- Later, the Associated Press tweeted a picture of Gilbert's plane in South Florida. It was revealed former Cavs center Zydrunas Ilaguaskas, who continues to have ties to the organization, was in South Florida as well.

-- Obviously, all of this led to intense speculation the Cavs and Ilguaskas were in Miami, or near Miami, to make a free-agent pitch to Heat star LeBron James. None of these rumors, of course, have been verified. Although it's hard to doubt photographic evidence from a respected news organization such as the AP.

-- Several sources told FOX Sports Ohio that Ilgauskas was not on the plane. Rather, it was said he was already in Miami. Sources also said the Cavs took an entire group there. Meanwhile, some sources would neither confirm nor deny anything involving the Cavs, Florida, or James because of the sensitivity of the subject.

-- One source who said there was a Cavs contingent in Miami would provide no other information, only to say the trip was something that came together fairly quickly.

-- The same source later said of James: "A few years ago (the Cavs) were told he would never return. Never is getting closer." The source warned, however, that no agreement between the Cavs and James was in place.

-- James and agent Rich Paul are scheduled to meet with Heat president Pat Riley later in the week. The news was first reported by USA Today, then repeated by several other outlets. This is an interesting development because at the end of the season, James indicated he wouldn't need to conduct a face-to-face meeting with the Heat. He already knew what they were about, he said.

-- NBA D-League forward Kenny Kadji, who was in training camp with the Cavs as an undrafted rookie, tweeted this Sunday night: "It will be a sad day for Miami fans tomorrow!!! #Wontsayanymore." Kadji played college ball at the University of Miami. He later deleted the tweet.

-- As reported by FOX Sports Ohio on Saturday, Heat free-agent big man Chris Bosh is said to be uncertain of LeBron's plans. Bosh stated he would prefer to return to the Heat, but now he and the Rockets reportedly have a mutual interest. He is likely to wait for James' decision before making a move.

-- Unlike 2010, the Cavs feel like they are in a very good spot whether James returns or not. They think they already have a good group with Kyrie Irving, Andrew Wiggins and others. If James wants to join the group, great. If not, that's OK too. At least, that seems to be the thinking. Of course, the Cavs would much prefer to have James than not have him. That makes them no different from any other team.

-- As also reported by FOX Sports Ohio on Saturday, Paul was said to be impressed with what the Cavs have done, and what they can still do, with the roster. The sides met last week.

-- If James chooses to leave Miami and return to Cleveland, the Cavs still feel they can obtain Timberwolves star Kevin Love in a trade if need be, sources reiterated Sunday.
-- It is also quite possible that if James returns to the Cavs, longtime NBA sharpshooter Ray Allen would join him. Allen was a member of the Heat the previous two seasons, and has said he would like to play for the team James chooses in free agency. Allen is a free agent as well.
-- One team has already offered the Cavs a huge trade exception and expiring contracts this summer, sources said.

Lebron is going back to Cleveland

The nba gave the cavs 3 number 1 picks for Lebron to come back

Central divison the toughest in all sports now.

Thibs will play pooh 42 mins now

Something about what Shaddy is saying does make sense, especially the #1 from THIS draft! This redemption story is a huge selling point for the league, and say what you want but only the BGOL eMilitants have a problem with LeBron going back to Cleveland. Him and Gilbert shaking hands, reconciling and him going to lead a young team to dominance will elevate his legacy to epic proportions! The Miami Big 3 thing has run it's course, Wade is breaking down and basically they keep bringing in retreads in the off season.

The league needs something to move past this Sterling thing and bringing home it's greatest player to restore his hometown team is stuff legend is made of!

The prodigal son comes back home... headline city!!!

When is Rose contract up ?

Its time for him to go run with the Bucks & learn from true PG with those candy knee's.

He can save them by focusing on a being floor general & not a PG version of Kobe. J.Kidd can learn the boy. He need to leave the nest.

PS edit the Bulls owe him $60 mill. Cat made $40 wearing Zegna on the sidelines. He is IMMOVABLE.

2017 rose is off the books

Worst era in bulls history

Now I gotta deal with Lebron all over again

And now Jabari and j kidd in bucks

Man o man

I don't think it happens but Lebron going back to Cleveland is the biggest sports story in recent history. It would melt the internet.

4 real. Indeed it wood(redwood, oak)

Cleveland would be on the fast track to contend for the next 5 years.

Kyrie & Lebron with the rookie. Shiiiiiiiit.

D Wade see you in retirement.

So not only 3 number 1 picks over the last 4 years, they also have this. Man, the Cavs really might just be a viable option. Gilbert gonna have to do the song and dance to Lebron...do some real ass kissing.

"The team also potentially owns three first-round picks in the 2015 draft, including the Heat's pick if they fall outside the top 10. They also have the Memphis Grizzlies' pick if it falls between Nos. 6 and 14 and their own pick."

Man listen, LeBron is looking to become a billionaire. Dudes are being short sighted thinking he's worried about 30 million. To him that ain't shit! Funny thing is, Jordan is probably a big influence on him right now, the way he KEEPS getting money even in his 50s. Winning chips in Miami won't have the same future financial effects as going back to Cleveland, resurrecting that city and turning that young core into champions! That motherfucker will be adored for years!

Not saying he is going back to Cleveland, but it makes much better long term financial and legacy sense than staying!

:lol::lol:

You see thats why you need a good competent lawyer with "experience" when you make a deal. Wow.

Miami , just speculating a have cleared a couple hundred mill just being in the finals the last 4 years. That playoff money is to the head for the franchise.

The Cavs could save the city. No joke.

uh oh :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: woooow :eek:

lotsof speculation

I will say it again......I am not interested in big names...I am interested in filling needs...cheap high energy big guys, corner 3pt shooters, ball handlers, young wing guys are all things I would hope Riley would pursue.

I never wanted him to go after Sefalosha or Caron Butler or Vince Carter...if these types of guys end up there I would be displeased

chris broussard.. lmao

A lot of bandwagon Miami fans are like :please: no

That's the same way I am with this Melo and Lance talk :smh:

I'd rather for them to throw money at Pau rather than those two
