~*~2014 NBA OffSeason Thread - Free Agency Starts - 7/1 12am ~*~

A source close to Anthony said he has confidence Jackson and general manager Steve Mills will make the Knicks top-flight contenders in the future, but was unsure about their ability to upgrade the team for this season. Anthony didn’t want to go through another 37-45 campaign. “I don’t think the money ever was the most important part,’’ the source said. “I think his concern was, could they make the team better this season? He is comfortable in the outer years, but needed to be convinced about the upcoming year.’’

The source close to Anthony told The Post on Friday that family is also a factor in potentially staying in New York. The Post has reported Anthony’s Brooklyn-raised wife La La Vasquez doesn’t want him to leave the Knicks after she was a driving force in the trade that brought him to New York from Denver in 2011. New York Post

The Spurs’ 14.5-point margin of victory was the highest in NBA Finals history.

The Finals was more of the same for San Antonio, which showed historical dominance during the 2014 postseason. In 12 of its 16 playoff wins, the Spurs won by 15 points or more. Not surprisingly, that’s the most in NBA history. (After narrowly defeating Dallas for its first three wins of the playoffs, San Antonio actually won 12 of its final 13 playoff games by 15+ points.) Also not surprising: The Spurs outscored opponents in the playoffs by 214 points, the largest margin in NBA history.

San Antonio had the highest field-goal percentage in NBA Finals history.

Since the advent of the shot clock, the Spurs’ 52.8 field-goal percentage was the best in Finals history, breaking the record of the 1991 Chicago Bulls.

Nigga implied The Heat had a better playoff run than the Spurs... Dudes dominated in a way tougher conference and then proceeded to demolished dem motherfuckers! Two key pieces my ass!

What the snicks get? Let's not compare the snicks to the heat..

How has it been a rough month? Still got to the finals.. Still won the east.. And Lebron ain't giving nobody his ass to kiss he's well within his right to put pressure on any organization to get better if he's the best player in the league 10 yrs straight..

You have no room to clown shit period.. U can have a seat at the table when the 6ers actually start doing something

Only people I should hear from are spurs, OKC, and Indy fans.. Now u gtfo I don't talk to perennial losers

The Tribune reported in Wednesday's editions that Rose came to the United Center for a previously scheduled workout and rehabilitation session, talked to Anthony for roughly 20 minutes inside the locker room and did not attend a dinner held for Anthony. Rose is uncomfortable in the role of recruiting and has made public this stance many times, as recently as Sunday in an interview with Yahoo Sports. The Tribune reported on draft night that Rose's camp had made clear to Anthony's camp he would welcome the All-Star forward's addition.

Please don't forget about the RECORD BREAKING PERFORMANCE the Spurs put on dat ass tho... Two key pieces!!! SHEEIITT! That was a more than two key pieces ass whipping they took!!!:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Spurs had the best record in the NBA and bounced in the first round.

Spurs were smashing everyone two year ago and even up 2-0 and lost the last 4 and bounced

OKC was bounced 5-1

Spurs were 23 seconds from a title and lost the last two.

The Lakers got smashed and bounced.

Happens in all sports. The Miami Hurricanes beat Bama in 90/91 for the title and in 92/93 Bama came back and smashed Miami for their title

FSU beat florida in 1996 and Florida came back and smashed FSU to win the title.

But they don't want to appease him by going over the cap to add players

As if he doesn't make them millions on millions of dollars

Joe Kotoch: Same exec feels it's a Miami-Cleveland battle & LeBron is waiting for a team to make a splash.

Joe Kotoch: Feeling is that if LeBron doesn't sign w/ Heat soon that upgrades to bench won't be possible because players are leery of signing w/out him Twitter @Probballdraft
(No shit, free agents are waiting on Lebron while Lebron is waiting to see who the Heat sign)
Lebron might need to give either sign or leave, to get the ball moving)

Happens all the time in the WEST. The West is just deep. The Spurs almost lost in the 1st round this year and SHOULD'VE if the Mavs wouldn't have given it away. This ain't the East where there's only 1 contender every year.

That is how you niggas feel that we be running wild in the East. Who is going to Challenge Miami and prevent them from getting in the finals again

Five finals in five years and win 3. I would take that all day:lol:

Sure you would... 5 aint happening Bruh... And way to go out on...... well, as someone Bottom Bitches!!!!:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Did they say that shit again this year?

Their idea of big fish is Luol Deng. And i'd take him for the right price but shit.....he's probably holding out now waiting for Melo and others to commit to their teams so he can cash out.

I mean the whole point of "keeping the powder dry" was to land a big fish

And them motherfuckers tanked to get the easiest draw in the east! Dude, that finals was over after game 1, cramp gate! D Wade shot like 6 for 40 the last two games, and these motherfuckers talking like CP3, Blake Griffin and Lamarcus Aldridge are coming to South Beach! I swear I HOPE LeBron stays, just so these clowns can be geeked all year, to set up epic clownage again! I HOPE they keep the Heat in tack, I swear I do!!!

Miami just needs about two good pieces that fit. Big name or no name, just need the pieces to fit.

Their wing players were just to old to play small ball when they were forced to trap, double and recover.

Which is why I said he's lowkey holding them hostage.

But its the Heat fault.

Players don't want to go to the Heat after the Spurs took their souls but also because Lebron ain't committed and nobody trying to go to South Beach to play with Shabazz Napier and Udonis Haslem. Just give Lebron the contract that he wants and moves on. Heat fucking themselves over.

And Lebron is too if he's really contemplating going to the Cavs. I mean, its honestly probably the smartest move for his career with Kyrie and Wiggins there but so much was said between both parties......i'd be shocked. But it makes perfect basketball sense. Welll, actually it doesn't. He'd be taking one year less with the Cavs.

Cleveland is the best option between the two because I don't believe Bosh is going to take short money to get shit on some more, and D Wade is platooning already and his bum ass knees will only get worse! Staying in Miami will only serve to shorten LeBrons career because he has to do too damn much just for them to remain competitive! Dude talking about two key pieces, name two motherfuckers still out there that are attainable by the Heat that would have changed the outcome of the damn ass whipping they just took?!?!

At least in Cleveland, he has a young core of stud players to play with and will not have to carry the who damn team again! He arguably had to carry them bums last years as bad as his Cleveland years, only to have them two Niggas bail on him in the finals!

He would be a damn fool to go back to that bullshit again!

Two key pieces... :smh:

I mean the whole point of "keeping the powder dry" was to land a big fish

I think they were keeping the powder dry to have a SHOT at a big fish. They already should know by now what the deal is.

The free agents game is just too fucked up. When you have someones birds rights you basically have that player. A player of Lebron's caliber can take that 4 year deal because he's the best player and best athlete and the game and barring any freak accident he's gonna clear that 4 year and get ANOTHER max right after that.

But players the caliber of Deron Williams....they not doing that shit. So then you sub-in guys like Loul Deng and Chandler Parsons who in Parsons case is probably going to be available because Lin is getting 14 million this season and they can't afford Parsons anymore and they trying to clear shit for Melo.

Free agency is a big mess right now but once Melo and I guess Lebron commit it should fall right into place

I said from jump the Heat are best served adding solid rotational guys. They didn't get their asses tore up by a bunch of superstars. Duncan is towards the end of his prime, Ginobilli is Ginobilli, Parker was ASS.....Leonard struggled at the beginning but came on the last few games. They got beat by a team of players who knew their roles and excelled.

You need guys like Leonard. You need guys like James Posey. You can sign James Posey caliber players in free agency.

But they are stuck on this big name shit. Talking about Kyle Lowry.....man Lowry wasn't gonna fix shit. Give me 3 James Posey's over 1 Kyle Lowry. And its gonna be cheaper too.

Spurs bench a what beat the Heat..

Lowry is not a big name he just had a big season which pushed his price up

He was the biggest realistic name of actually leaving. That is if Melo and Lebron leave. I personally never thought they'd leave but in regards to the biggest names who actually had a shot at leaving? I'd say its probably Lowry, Deng and Parsons. Lowry had a all star season last year. Plus he caked in free agency.

So Miami supposed to be meeting with Deng today and offer something in the 6-8 million range

They can offer him 10 if they want and where did u get 6-8? U just pulling numbers out your ass? As per bleacher all it said was Riley was meeting with Deng's reps

Miami gone fuck around and there's not gonna be any quality players left to sign to their roster.

Deng is a nice acquisition for 8 million. Anything more and IMO he becomes a liability. His jumper doesn't warrant more than 10.

I don't know if these type of signings of smaller players would even excite Lebron or give him assurance but off back if they could've got some combination of like Devin Harris or Augustin, CJ Miles and Jordan Hill? To me that's a nice realistic free agent class right there. You get someone who can attack the basket with Harris, someone with solid outside shooting in Miles and someone wtih solid rebounding and interior defense in Hill. You get younger and more athletic. Plus I don't think they would've broke the bank.

Miami money not long enough to pay him 10 million a year did you mean 10 million for 3 years like the mini mle

Nah the the MLE.. heat can give him 10 but he ain't worth that of course another team would give him that

8 stacks tops..

Heat money long but as u said the owner is a bitch and scared of that tax.. Championship teams regularly went over the cap.. But we can see the heat owner on his mark Cuban shit

Yup...Augustine & Hill are available but I like your thinking it won't take much.

I'll be happy with Billups just to help develop Napier and Cole.

That allows you to spread the pennies out thinner  damn Mickey

Francisco Garica, Vince Carter are signable....
Jordan Hill market should be nice.

Deng likely a option if Lebron leave, he's waiting for Lebron and Melo to make their moves.

Multiple league sources say there will be a close-to-max market for Bosh if Anthony and James stay with their respective teams. CBSSports.com

One of those people, an executive with a rival team, said the growing belief around the league is that Bosh would prefer a four-year max deal with another team to a discounted longer deal with Miami. CBSSports.com

Joe Kotoch: If LeBron leaves Miami the prevailing thought is Chris Bosh prefers to stay but suddenly his salary demands do too. Houston a real option. Twitter @Probballdraft
