~*~2014 NBA OffSeason Thread - Free Agency Starts - 7/1 12am ~*~

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/11173701/atlanta-hawks-reach-agreement-free-agent-thabo-sefolosha

The Atlanta Hawks have reached an agreement with free agent Thabo Sefolosha on a three-year, $12 million deal, sources told ESPN.com on Thursday.

Hawks were searching to add a wing player who could be a defensive specialist after trading away Lou Williams to the Toronto Raptors last week.

Sefolosha, 30, averaged 6.3 points and 3.6 rebounds in 61 starts for the Oklahoma City Thunder last season.

This non scoring muthafucka got 4 mil?

His scoring sucks so much, that he's an offensive liability to even be out there in crunch time for defense.

Seriously, you dudes think Wade couldn't get a few mil in two years? Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit

again the role players are getting snatched up.

OKC drafted Theo replacement this draft. Sam Presiti is trying to do what his mentor taught him but things haven't worked out so far.

Unless Lamb develops to the player they thought.

And if that $110 was guaranteed whether he cut your grass four times or zero times he would be a fool to not take it. Thanks for making my point.

Yeah, except he has to show up to cut my grass the same amount of time regardless. If he doesn't show up, he doesn't get shit. So instead of going out the last two days and having his time free or finding someone else that would pay him more than $5 per to cut his yard. he has to come and at least stand in my yard the whole time.

This makes no sense. Yea, I don't think you know how guaranteed contracts work.

Again bro, the money is guaranteed the moment he signs. So your grass cutting analogy is a horrible one unless his performance is immaterial once he signs the contract.

So the target Miami is going after is Anthony Morrow

Marc Stein @ESPNSteinLine · 12m

Word is both Heat and OKC Thunder are chasing Morrow. As was Orlando, I'm told, until Magic secured their deal with Ben Gordon as well

Marc SteinVerified account ‏@ESPNSteinLine

Message here is Heat are chasing realistic targets to fit in around LeBron, Wade and Bosh. Never had a real shot at the Lowrys and Gortats

see this is when I call bullshit

Miami Insiders leaked info of Miami being interested in Kyle Gortat and Melo before Lebron and them opt out.

why??? Another game of Pat Riley. Have your players feel you have a chance adding good players all they have to do is opt out.

which is why you had Heat fans excited thinking Pat was going to pull off something but now after 2 days of free agency the big free agent Miami is looking at is Anthony Morrow.

Now I can understand why Bron doesn't trust the heat front office anymore

Man it has to be concerning the inactivity coming out of South Beach this week.

I really thought there was a very slim chance that Lebron was going to leave. However, this inactivity is troubling because players that could have been used to fill out the roster and solve the pain points are getting signed left and right and Miami has been at a standstill.

Also, the stream of "sources" leaking different issues that Wade, Lebron, and Bosh are having in terms of salary desires and supposedly not being on the same page all have me believe that Lebron has made his demands and gone off the grid and some "make it work" shit. The problem is that everything depends on him.

Just answer these couple questions please, I'll make it simple for you.

Was Wade under contract for two more years for 42 mil?
Was that contract guaranteed?
If Wade signs 4 years for 50 mil, is that not the same as him signing a two year extention after his opted out contract was up for 4 mil per year?
Do you think Wade would rather have two years of his life to do what he wants?

He could sign with TNT or ESPN for a couple mil a year, works a couple days a year for those two years and still come out almost even. He could do camps during those two years, start coaching younger players like Dream did. He could go out on the speaking circuit during those two years and give motivational speaches from a 3 time NBA champion. He would not be able to do any of those things for two years by signing a longer contract. You call that winning? Say he's riding the pine for two years and can't play as you claim no one would EVER sign him. Look at all he could be doing instead of riding the pine for 2 years.

Wade doesn't need to leave his crib. This is the NBA not the NFL. Gilbert Arenas is still one of the highest paid players in all of American sports man and he hasn't seen the court in ages.

That's if you get cut. You can't retire and still get paid.

Right. Gilbert is different. Gilbert got amnestied so he's gonna get his money regardless if he retires or not. Wade ain't gonna get SHIT if he decided to retire.

The Heat would have to decide they would rather pay Wade to go away rather than pay him to ride the pine. Either way, the decision is theirs, not his.

Its not gonna be no 20 million a year either. I wonder what the fuck he was thinking opting out.

Yes. The possibilities are endless. You can write about them for days. However, none of it changes the bottomline brother. Guaranteed bucks>>>

If you retire due to injury you get 100%. He will get every penny he signs for.

In Pat we trust........where realjondoe at?

:lol::smh::lol:

But he can't declare himself to be too injured to play. the team doctor would have to deem him too injured to play then the NBA would send their own doctors to examine him.

Once again, it's the team's decision and the league's, not his.

That's why Nash is playing his last season and not just declaring himself retired due to injury...

If it came down to it, Miami would just buy him out. Wade is doing this to offer his team short-term cap flexibility. They're going to compensate him by just restructuring his contract and taking care of him later. Wade WILL NOT be playing professional basketball in the NBA in 5 years. His body won't allow it.

Now, I'm not saying he should have opted out. He takes the chance of getting fucked (but Miami has no history of fucking over lifers). But if he gets a deal done, he'll end up getting more money overall because wade is not your typical vet....his knees are gone man. He'll probably miss 30-40 games next season to rest his legs. Per game, he's getting over anyway.

Hey man, instead of hiring you to cut my grass 2 times for $100, I'm gonna do you a solid.

Ima let you cut it 4 times for $110

Nah, I'll cut it the first 2 years, and then lay up on your lawn looking like a complete ass for 2 years for that extra 10.

Wade got played. That's the truth. Unless it's 4 years 75 or something, he got shat on.:lol:

In most cases, it might not make sense. But wade is on the tail end of his career and both his knees are so fucked up he's sitting out 40 percent of the season to rest. A 32 year old player who has to sit 30 games in hopes of having him fresh by the playoffs (and he's still struggling) has a slim chance of even being on the team at the end of a 5 year contract. I dont think Wade is just going to ride the pine either.

 He signed a Tim Duncan deal. That's not a bad deal though for him. I don't know if Dirk has 3 years in him as a superstar. That's a solid deal.

But Duncans team used the money to sign players and compete for a title. Mavs aint competing for shit but a 5th seed and 2nd round exit. Cuban is a bitch. Dirk deserved more. No one is coming to play with him so they don't need the cap space.

5years? Wade wont last 3 bro. I don't know wtf these cats are talking about. And neither do they. Any business offer you guaranteed dollars that aren't tied to performance you take it. Period.

True, but how much more? 2 years on the pine to make 8 while Lebronze leaves and you miss the playoffs?

Nah, give me the 42.

I was just using 5 because he'll most likely get a 4 or 5 year contract.

I honestly think Wade calls it a career in 2 years. His body gonna be done and Miami won't be competitive most likely unless Lebron does stick around long term. He's not going to come off the bench anywhere and he doesn't need to ring chase at the end of his career. Two more long seasons and it's over for wade unless some miraculous medical advances happen for knee transplants.

And that's cool. But personally imma take that extra cash. And when my knee keeps blowing up like a balloon after each game imma retire due to injury or force a buyout.

Exactly my point!
