Hearing Carmelo will almost certainly have his decision made before the weekend is finished, according to a person familiar with the matter

No he wont.

And I don't know why cats questioning why Wade opted out. He will absolutely without fail be in Miami and have a deal with a total amount exceeding 40million.

Fucup, let me ask you a question,

Would you rather make 200k from your job over the next two years or 220k over the next 4?

He's not getting paid 20 mill a year like he would have if he had opted in. That's the only thing that matters.

He might not get 20 mill but he getting like 12 on the books. The only free agent available with value is Melo. If the Heat do not get him, this was all a failure. Period. They need a center more than a pg. Gasol is not coming especially if Chicago amnesty Boozer.

Lemme ask you a question. Is this pay totally guaranteed regardless of my participation or work performance? Is this a job where I can only work a finite number of years and therefore total compensation trumps extended duration?

You follow me??

To make it more clear. Wade doesn't work a traditional job where pay is based on performance. He has a guaranteed contracted amount in a industry where most become unemployable after 34 years of age. If he can get a 4/5 year deal that pays him a penny more than his previous 2 year deal its a win. The value in his deals will always be money over time. Duration is immaterial. Dollar amount is all that matters.

Wrong.

If Wade made his 40 mil over two years then signed a deal making 12 per for the next 2 (look at what meeks just signed for) that puts Wade at 64 mil.

Heat are not signing him to 4 years 64 mil. If they sign him to 4 years 45 mil, he still left almost 20 mil on the table.

He'll never make that money back.

Your scenario only works if Wade is unable to play after 2 years.

The whole situation with the guaranteed contract is only good for Wade if he only plans on playing one or two more years. Anything beyond that he fucked up.

And if he opts out to get the same team he could have gotten if he opted in :smh:

The people who won...the owner and Riley...it saves them luxury cap money

I disagree. If Wade opted in and took that $40mil do you really think in 2 years someone would value him at 12mil a year? He's on the decline NOW. Extending that money gives him a better chance at prolonging his rate into retirement.

It doesn't have to be 12 mil

In two years he got 3 or 5 mil a year. That's 3 or 5 mil more than he would have had

12+12+12+12
22+22+5+3

Have you been paying attention? He WONT be employable in two more years. This was his last contract regardless. He knees are fucking shot. Any penny above 40million is gravy.

Wade could have opted in for the 40 and gracefully bowed out after that, or opt out and get blessed for assisting with cap issues and sign for 50 over 4years.

This aint Jodie Meeks entering his prime and projected to improve sir. This is a washed up nigga who will only get worse. He sat out 30 games this year and was worthless after playing two playoff series. Hes done!! Its actually a good financial decision for him to opt out for a cash grab.

You wanna know the real holdup to Bron not signing?? He knows this nigga done and his clock is ticking. Wade opting out and getting a penny over $40million is the best decision he's made since divorcing the crazy bitch.

The way some of these cats look at contract money, I wish I could do business with them

Until the Finals, Wade was having a great playoffs. Some owner would use Wade's name to put fans in the seats, believe that. Regardless, if I was Wade, I'd rather make 40 mill over two years then spend 2 years relaxing at the beach and chasing hoes or being a commentator than to spend four years working for about the same money.

If Ben Gordon can get 4.5 mil out of a team. Wade on some promise of some going to China for some special procedure to rebuild his knee to play only the fourth quarter of even numbered games after the all star break can get 4.5

Wade is not signing a mle ever. Especially in Miami. This contract allows him to retire in 4 years while still making 8 figures.

That is what I have been saying. In 2 years, somebody will give him at least 12-15 for another 2 years.

What playoffs did you watch? He played well after resting 30 games and on fresh legs. The moment he was tasked with playing nightly he failed miserably. And once he got to the finals he was worthless. And what butts will a 35 year old DWade put into seats?? Come on man, this is fantasy island youre on.

Gordons knees work and he has a jumper. Wade is a deteriorated two guard who cant shoot. His strength is attacking the basket and utilizing quickness. He can no longer do that. At age 32 he will only get worse. Nobody was hiring this guy in two more years.

You're comparing wade to Ben Gordon. First mistake. Wade would rather retire than play for a 4.5 million contract. This is a hof 3x champion who brought Miami it's first ring. There is nothing after this contract here. If I'm wade I stretch it out as long as possible while making the most possible. He wants to retire in Miami his prior contract didn't allow him to do that.

Why do you dudes think this, when this muthafucka just left 40+ mil on the table?

Wade called you and told you he'd rather retire than take 4.5?

Maybe in 2 years there's a team right on the edge of a ring and they just needs a veteren presence in the locker room and some leadership and would love to have Wade come help them for a couple of years.

That would add to his legacy. Won a ring on his own, showed LeBron how to win one, then showed a young team how to win in his last years in the league.

The Atlanta Hawks have reached an agreement with free agent Thabo Sefolosha on a three-year, $12 million deal, sources told ESPN.com on Thursday.

Hawks were searching to add a wing player who could be a defensive specialist after trading away Lou Williams to the Toronto Raptors last week.

Sefolosha, 30, averaged 6.3 points and 3.6 rebounds in 61 starts for the Oklahoma City Thunder last season.

Exactly. If he's shot. He will ride the pine for 2 years and be a pariah.

Fuck that, give me the 42 and if I have a year or 2 left, I sign for the MLE or vet minimum and do a Juan Howard role.

That's still more $$ than he will probably get. And if it's not, in 2 years you warmth fans will be treating him like the Lake show fans treat Nash. :smh:

This non scoring muthafucka got 4 mil?

His scoring sucks so much, that he's an offensive liability to even be out there in crunch time for defense.

Seriously, you dudes think Wade couldn't get a few mil in two years? Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit

Hey man, instead of hiring you to cut my grass 2 times for $100, I'm gonna do you a solid.

Ima let you cut it 4 times for $110

Clippers in conversations with Jordan Farmar

The Los Angeles Clippers have had conversations with unrestricted free agent Jordan Farmar, according to sources.
This isn't close to a done deal as Farmar reportedly has interest from three or four other teams, but the Clippers have upped their pursuit of back up point guards now that Darren Collison has signed with the Sacramento Kings. The 27-year-old averaged 10.1 points, 1.7 three-pointers, 2.5 boards, 4.9 assists, and 0.9 steals in 41 games with the Lakers during the 2013-14 season and would give the Clippers a solid insurance policy for Chris Paul.

And if that $110 was guaranteed whether he cut your grass four times or zero times he would be a fool to not take it. Thanks for making my point.

The funny thing is, if Wade gives up 42 mil over 2 years for 50 years over 4, he would play the last two years of that contract for 8 millon or 4 mil per season.

So the Hawks traded Lou Williams and Bebe Nogueira to open up cap room ... only to sign Thabo Sefolosha?
