Ayo did Isaiah ever holla at magic about joining the lakers?
He hollared at his "boy" and fellow Chi native Mark Aguirre about joining the Pistons to help him win 2 titles. Aguirre went #1 in the '81 draft, Isiah went #2, and yall bitched about Inkosi, Wade, & Bosh "teaming up" for titles.![]()
Please. The Pistons were in game 7 of the Finals the year before and if not for Zeke getting injured and a phantom call on Bill Laimbeer in game 7, they would have won. They didn't get Aquirre to get them over the top. They got Aquirre because Zeke and Adrian Dantley had issues with each other. Dantley >>> Aguirre.
Would've could've should've. They lost in 88. Dantley to this day still swears Zeek made that trade happen and that he wanted to play with his good friend and draft classmate specifically. Larry Bird "recruited" Bill Walton to the Celtics. Magic Johnson "recruited" Bob McAdoo to the Lakers. Shit aint new.![]()
You buggin eewwll. Thomas ushered that nigga out of town. Dantley was happy there and wanted to stay. He was also about 5years older so he knew he wouldn't win a "him or me" ultimatum with the front office.
Zeke absolutely orchestrated that trade to play with his boy.

Ayo Shaddy tell me this... what year was it that Isiah was a free agent?
I disagree. And so does AD. Zeke was on some ho shit bro. And he absolutely wanted to play with his boy. If your memory is as good as it seems, then you recall the players being pissed about the trade. Especially Dumars. Zeke orchestrated that shit. And call him a ball stop all you want, he was the best player on the team during that finals matchup when they got hosed against LA. Zeke wanted the guy gone. And he also wanted to play with his butt boy and fellow chi town closet homo Mark Aguire (yea shaddy I said it, fuck you gone do faggit). He orchestrated because they had a power struggle. Dantley was not "happy" with the way Zeke was taking full control over the team. This was a huge local story at the time. Zeke also called Dantley a ball hog and said the offense stopped when Dantley got the ball in the post (which was somewhat true. I loved AD but he did slow the game up). I didn't say that Zeke didn't exert his power. I said Zeke didn't move him out because he "wanted to pay with his friends". You guys might not know about this shit but any Detroiter who followed the Pistons during that time could tell you this. This was a VERY public thing. Dantley and Zeke had real on and off the court issues and Zeke felt he could never take full control off the team with Dantley there.

What do you mean "wanted" to be the man?? He was the man.
AD ushered himself out…
AD wanted to be the 'man'… and he clashed with Chuck and Zeke… NO BUENO!

The players wanted him there and he wanted to be there. The diva point guard was the one who wanted him gone.
Exactly...Naw homie. It wasn't just on Zeke. AD, by making it a public "him or me" thing put a lot of pressure on Coach Daly and in some way, kind of put in on Coach Daly for giving Zeke too much control. They had lockerroom quarrels for years (kind of like Kobe and Shaq) and remember when Shaq came out after that 2004 season and forced LA's hand? AD was on the local news.. ON VIDEO which was replayed on the local news (in the locker-room saying that real probem on the team was Zeke). That was not going to fly in Detroit man. Zeke was THE sports hero in Detroit at the time... when AD made it a him or me thing, that was it.
I love AD. He can say what he wants in the media now. He was probably right at the time too about Zeke making the full power play... but he overplayed his cards when he came at Zeke publicly.
AD is still good folk now too. I hate that bitch ass Mark Aguirre got a ring and AD had to play for the bum ass Mavs afterwards but no way was he going to win a war with Zeke in Detroit.
Ok. I just think it was two fold. We just have varying reasoning behind the reason Zeke had him bounced. Then again, not really varying, I just have an additional aspect to how MA came into the deal. We agree Zeke was on some ho shit and pulled those strings, I defer to your local perspective with the details. I think Zeke also wanted to play with his childhood pal as well while you think that was just a happenstance aspect of it all. Im cool with that.I said Zeke got him out... but not because he woke up one day and wanted to play with his friend...
