Eagles release Desean Jackson

Or it's just Chip Kelly exerting his new-found power?

Does he have that type of power ?

Has the Owner and GM given total control to this dude to the point of having to pay 6 million and get nothing in return..to release your best offensive weapon...a cat that can change the game from different spots on the field ?

Andy Reid did that

one of the few coaches who love black qbs

You could be right. The organization still had to get behind that Vick move. Especially at that point in time.

I'm pointing to Chip Kelly...not necessary the entire organization. Like I said, just last week I was reading a very indepth article about how Kelly was consolidating power since his first year really impressed the owner and ownership has pretty much give him full control and trust to create the team in his image.

Or it's just Chip Kelly exerting his new-found power?

If that Philly owner has given Chip Kelly all this "power" to basically get rid of one of their faces of the franchise for absolutely nothing? Chip Kelly won't be in this league very long.....well shit I didn't think he would be anyway.

That's what i'm wondering. If that owner has given Kelly this much power than he's a damn fool. Everyone seems to be giving credit to the owner for the Desean cut though.

Right. I agree with you.

I'm just shocked they couldn't trade nothing for this nigga......nobody gonna give Desean a shot? If the market is like that then somebody is about to get Desean for the LOW.

And I hope its us.

Man crips wear what they want I don't know where y'all getting this shit from. This ain't '93 no more.

that being said man that dude Desean ain't no gang member. You can't be a professional NFL player and be a true gang member. You can have ties and all that shit but you can't have a productive career and be a Pro Bowler and a gang member.

I'm waiting to hear if Pete Carroll wants him in Seattle since he was thirsty for him at USC..

They tried to give Lynch a bad rep too and we see how that worked out...

Jackson and Harvin ????? whew.

and this mofokr musta just watched colors..

This cac just called in and said how do you give Mike Vick a shot who was a convicted felon but you cut Desean who has done nothing but have "alleged gang ties".....I haven't heard anyone compare the Riley Cooper situation though.

crips dont wear red, so i take it he's just chillin in this pic.

Now someone help me out please. I have defended lots and lots of gang members, and besides the obvious silliness of the red hat, I am not even convinced that is a gang sign. can someone with actual knowledge confirm that that is one, and if so, what set?

Just seems like a lot of bullshit about Desean is going unchallenged, and that is what is pissing bruhs off.

Besides that, in case anyone was wondering, Maclins comments basically mean "I'm the #1 receiver now and I'm gonna get more balls this year and more money next year. Bye Desean."

Cooper was a bum and was a racist. He surely was expendable and they could've picked up ANYONE off the street. He had a okay season last year. No one saw that coming. I'll give them credit but fact remains he was a bum when he spewed that racist shit and should've been cut. It was tearing up the locker room.

Man. His best season up until that point was 300 yards receiving man! Dude had a TOTAL of 600 yards over his first 3 years man. He was a fucking bum. Way more productive players have been cut for less.

Does he have that type of power ?

Has the Owner and GM given total control to this dude to the point

Well, there has been speculation that he actually has been given that type of power now. Like I said, there was a grantland or long espn article saying that after last season, he was pretty much handed the keys to the castle.

Right. I agree with you.

I'm just shocked they couldn't trade nothing for this nigga......nobody gonna give Desean a shot? If the market is like that then somebody is about to get Desean for the LOW.

And I hope its us.

See we need to stop saying they couldn't trade him for nothing.
Desean was getting PAID this year and had some years left on a huge contract. So.. no teams couldn't give up a 3rd round pick and take on $15 million dollars, nobody has the cap space to really do it and we don't know how willing he was to restructuring if he got traded....

so it ain't like he was only gonna make $3 million and teams wouldn't jump on the chance to get him.. he had a HUGE contract.

but now teams will jump on him cause they ain't gonna be giving him all that money and the eagles are on the hook for $6 million

like i said we need to be on the phone right now saying 1 year $4 million that's 10 for the season come back to the bay and get you a ring....

I have read throught this thread and and numerous articles aboout this subject. From what has beeen expressed in the responses I have to as did anyone here read this ?

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap20...esean-jackson-released-by-philadelphia-eagles

The same report also questions Jackson's attitude, work ethic, chemistry with coach Chip Kelly and penchant for missing team meetings to hang out with friends.

Anyone ?

Wheteher you think so or not professional football is a buisness and just like Microsoft, Apple, Facebook, and any other buisness that is prominent in the public eye, certain standards have to be kept. If anyone has ever played any type of ornazied sports like me, you know you dont miss any mandatory team obligations. There is a lot more than just the gang affiliation that brought Philly to they're decision and I highly doubt skin color had anything to do with it. This is a talented kid, with a fucked up attitude, the Eagles choose not to deal with it.

It says he was gonna count for 10.4 million against a teams salary cap in 2014........restructure that and give him more guaranteed money and you were good. His contract was big but for his 1300 yards it was somewhat warranted.

You telling me the Oakland Raiders wouldn't have paid that contract? The same team that just traded a 1st rounder for Carson Palmer and let him go right afterwards?

Yea..cause we all know that felons that become felons via having dogs fight one another are some of the worst.

Philli fans are idiots. They signed VIck because Vicks name was hot in the media. Having a player like VIck play on that bum ass team during that time wouldve made them some extra cash. Now that theyve made enough cash off him..he's gone..just like DJax.

Supposedly they believe the turnaround warrants him being called an offensive "genius" and that he's the next 'great' NFL coach. I swear I was just reading this a bit over a week or two ago. There was actually speculation about the possibility of them shipping out Jackson because Kelly wanted a "Certain type" of player in his system and Jackson's personality didn't fit in. He's going for the "Patriot Way" where everyoen buys in and no one publicly goes against the team on anything. The article was talking about he made a huge pitch on the offense and people doubted it (even the staff) and he got everyone to buy in. After turning the team around, it was a aura of "it would have been even better if I had 100 percent buy-in to all my philosophies"... and supposedly ownership is going to give him more control so that he can really put the team together his way. Basically he pitched that he had a great season without full buy-in and with another coach's players.. he could take the organization to the promised-land with more control and supposedly management and ownership bought. Like I said, this was a long piece I read before this who Desean Jackson shit even starting popping off.

Right. I don't want to hear about no Riley cooper shit. Its simple. They value Riley Cooper and his racist rants more than than do Desean and his alleged "Gang activity". That's if there's no other type of potential consequences coming out..

like i said how willing was he to restructure? why would he restructure? he didn't want to leave philly and he in his prime and had a monster year... this isn't someone on the tail end or someone who was looking to leave the team.. that's what im saying. why would he cooperate in taking less money for being a top 10 wr?

i think he's getting too much credit man. barely making the playoffs and now you're bill bellicheck?

I don't think anyone has a problem with whatever legitimate conflicts led the Eagles to go in another direction. It is the gratuitous defamation/character assassination that came after the fact that pisses everyone off. That is straight up classic CAC behavior.

Lol@ this Hernandez comparison. Aaron Hernandez already had a rap sheet for violence. Instances with guns, that bar fight at Florida, etc. This dude is "guilty" of KNOWING a couple dudes who did dirt.

"Questions about 2 murders". Bullshit. He was questioned about one murder simply because he knew the guy. If he wasn't famous he would not have even been questioned about that murder. And the other murder he got questioned for was in a building that his family member owns. Not even him.

Dude now all of a sudden had an arrest for smoking in his car in 2008? Man get out of here with this bullshit ass comparison to a dude who had arrest guns and violent activity.

I think the gang-affiliation is a smokescreen. It gives them a "legitimate" reason for getting nothing of a value for him. It doesn't make management look bad. It can paint them as looking responsible and honorable while they losing one of their best assets for no compensation.

I don't dispute the other shit about missing meetings. It even goes back to my original argument: Chip Kelly is trying to take over the organization and Jackson impedes a full buy-in because he's one of the teams highest paid and certainly most well-known players... and the fact that there were still some issues with his contract despite him being top 5 paid WRs only signifies that Kelly probably thought Jackson was going to be a recurring "problem". Now, he's important to Kelly's system and obviously producing on the field but Kelly is both trying to produce on the field AND take FULL control over the team while his stock is high.

I thought the same shit when I read the article. The offense was fine (ranked #3) but after those first 2-3 weeks, it wasn't striking fear in teams. I mean.. they went 10-6...not like they were merking teams but supposedly he got a majority of the players to like him and the organization fell in love with his "results" and think they have the next great coach that is going to change the game with his offensive philosophy.

Exactly man. Hernendez was a fucking goon. Jackson has never had off the field problems.

The fuck does gang ties really mean?

He had a couple of friends and/or family who are gang members?

Who doesn't???

Many players and people do including myself

Means nothing if you aren't involved in the shit yourself

These crackas trying to assassinate his character cuz he is a loud mouth type who doesn't "know his place"

There are hundreds of players they could slap that gang affiliated label on if they wanted to he just made himself a target

Now teams are scared to touch him

I'd roll the dice on him

Plus the nigga blows his cash so I do believe what is rumored he living check to check so he gonna ball hard cuz he needs the money

Thre are pics of him throwing up Crip sign all over the net, he threw that shit up at Deangelo Hall, so I dont see how his character has been assinated.

This is a much more feesable explination. E you yourself know from your buisness ventures a team must click. Kelly is new and he has to show that he is that dude running that team. It makes a statement and a shows a new regime is in and the bullshit wont be tolerated no matter how good you are, or how good you think you are. The fact the eagles are going to have to eat 6 million over this shows they are ready to move forward with Chip and the Reid era is truly over.

4 teams called his agent within 30 minutes of his release
no teams are scared to touch him don't listen to these dudes.
i remember they did the same shit to t.o. soon as he got released saying nobody is going to hire him nobody wants him then he goes his ass to dallas and they had to stfu.

it ain't about avoiding. people grow up to become what they become.

i know some dudes that are heavy in the streets and some doing life in jail

but when we were 10-12 years old we were playing football and everything together and going to the math olympics and science competitions together.

people grow up and take different paths.

no team was gone to do a trade with the Eagles because most of them knew that the Eagles were at some point going to release him rather than pay him that large ass salary this upcoming season

Aww man they going in on Houston radio.... Howard Eskin was on the radio here. When they post it on their website I'll get the link. Dude saying Jackson living check to check, spent all of his $8 million dollar signing bonus, he basically insinuated that his home invasion was an inside job, and that Riley Cooper was just a really good guy that had one too many to drink and made a mistake :hmm:

To quote Kefta...

context of racism/white supremacy

you be the judge

No surprise Jason Whitlock is cosigning this completely.
And has compared him directly to Aaron Hernandez.
love it

LOL "riley cooper made a mistake he owned up to it its completely different it was away from the team"

really???

what did jackson do to the team?

yeah but being active friends with someone who takes part of murder and mayhem may reflect poorly on you at some point..

you are judged by the company you keep or show me your friends and I'll show you the kind of person you really are..

I for one don't like having cops knock on my door asking if I know anything about a crime..but thats just me...
