Mid 30's to early 40's heads, post an obscure 80's song you still listen to

Anyone in this age group, if you heard it, tell me you didn't use to jam (or at least nod your head) to this song.

Other 80's heads, what's a forgotten song you still listen to?

G0nBad Real B@dI remember that song. It's still, as always, depressing as hell. It was a break up song, before I knew about Sade.

ThaBurgerPimp, I had to 5 star this thread after your post, man. That song was off of some movie soundtrack that I don't remember (but I think it was Better off Dead ((they throwing away perfectly good whiteboys, lol!))) . I liked this song, though!

Not really a breakup song but dude who realized he was in-love with a female friend. I have a lot of 80's songs on my Youtube playlist that I listen to everyday.

Your memories of it are valid. When you first heard it, and as time went by, I'm sure you experienced it differently than I did. Nonetheless, listening to it now reminds of Jean Doodigan--a Filipino girl I had a serious crush on who basically rejected me. This song was popular as I went through all that heartbreak. Regardless, good reply.

When I was a kid, I actually spent my allowance on him. Who else remembers, and used to like, this androgynous faggot. O.k., calling him a faggot is a bit much--because he always sang about bitches. Still, by today's standards, he's hella gay.

Just heard that Screams Of Passion jam a few days ago and it struck me as a song I had forgotten but was a jam.

Too many of these to name for me. This is just one off the top of the dome right quick. early Jam and Lewis production:

Thelma Houston You Used To Hold Me So Tight

And this is another jam produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis in their early days of producing. One of my forgotten favorites. Slept on track that was cold when I first heard it back then. Still goes hard.

Edit: Prince might be getting mad. The Passion vid was deleted.

Another song I found digging up old jams and I hadn't heard this rare rare groove in decades. Inspiring song. Didn't know Roy Ayers produced it but it does have his signature sound and style:

Rick Holmes Remember To Remember

Appropriate for Black History Month.

Great Thread OP. Classic Material up in here.

I'm keep an eye on this thread.

There's gonna ALOT of gems dropped in here as people post more & more music.

Lemme add a few off the top of my head.

I'll be back later with some more. :dunno:

Look up the meaning of "obscure," then hollar back. After all, you posted Soul II Soul "Back to Life" :smh:

I know what obscure means. :hmm:

Sooo.... you want everyone to post some weird-ass androgynous songs, just like you did? :dunno:

Sorry bro, I can't relate to that. :smh:
Never listened to that stuff. :smh:

So I just posted the 80's music that I dig, like Soul 2 Soul and the rest.

Sue me.

Sidenote: I see others have posted popular music from Chaka Khan, UB40, The Outfield, Glen Frey... but you never told them to go look up 'obscure', or even said a single word to them. :hmm:

Those songs are not any more obscure than the ones I posted.

No. I just don't want the thread flooded with popular 80's songs that everyone can post without much thought.

Going to the Image awards tomorrow.

And since Pharrell the music N.E.R.D. just pocketed a Grammy with the living legend & cancer survivor Nile Rodgers. Skateboard P is up for NAACP Entertainer of the Year. Lets listen to some of his influence(s).

Ultimate slumper. Make me want to go get some Amps & fans.

Nile Rodgers 80'z classics. I hope he is there tomorrow.

Including a Nile sample that took hip hop to THE mainstream.

Nile Rodgers obscure.

Sounds familiar if you a B.I.G. fan

Nile produced 2 of Madonnas biggest hits...

I would still tickle Madonna in her 50'z on GP. I was in my single digits but I knew I loved women. A 15 year old taught me what french kissing meant when I saw 9 listening to freaky ass Madonna.

Slump classic that will have broads trying to figure you out when you play this in the comfort of Recaro buckets & the heater on. You cant figure me out , just listen to what I have to say ...

Playa music

Respect to MEGA producer Nile Rodgers ! Nothing but hits.

OBSCURE BGOL interlude. Slash is a real dude.

Any cat just above 30 will remember when Friday Night Video's was the shit after watching Miami Vice. Before MTV ruled the roost & we only had cable on the big TV sitting on top of a bigger TV & not in our rooms.

PS. When moms sent me to the white school to try & keep me away them 80'z Oakland inlfuences - Funktown Harv, Felix the cat, Little D, AF aka MAD & the Flower boyz, The Hardy Boyz, The Lacy's. One of my best homies in life upped me on this song. My skateboard homie. Eminem got some years on me ,but he got a hit off this. The original is better.

PSS Still love this joint. Its one of life's great virtues to have your heart broken. It can motivate. ITS A LESSON LEARNED. My pops passed the same year - 1988. My early Jr High girlfriend years. Song reminds me of the time. Sad as it was , good memories.

Music is a couple of minutes of someone else's experience that resonates. Spiritual moments. Love it all, from Mozart to Too Short. The 80's remind me of everything I learned in life that I still use to this day.

New Cat with knowledge & real perspective on life.

Some slept on and forgotten 80s slow jams. Enjoy:

Not quite 80s but close enough. One of my all time faves that never ever gets old. Chilling song with masterful production:

They used to rock this heavy at the roller rinks:
