for example, I'm have a few naive African & Carribean friends who get shit thrown at em, but they dont notice. But an African American will prolly call that shit out quick cus he has a historical/cultural perspective

this aint neccesarily racism though, perhaps unfamiliarty. Cus if roles were reversed and some CAC walked into a majority Black bar, it would be the same reaction. are the Black patrons racist?

I work in retail, and I'm an assistant store manager. All the time, when CACS, Indians, or Pakistani customers ask to speak to a manager and I show up, they ask to speak to a "REAL" manager, or they ask if there is another manager available. Now, as a 6'2" black man with long dreads(neat and pulled back), a beard or goatee, and deep voice, I understand my intimidation factor. But I talk to and help hundreds of customers everyday on the sales floor, but it's those certain situations, that all of a sudden I'm not good enough to "help" them when they need a manger. I work in an upscale, higher income area, so I know my clientele, and how to conduct myself. I don't speak slang or cuss, I don't wear anything but khakis or nice jeans and button ups (no uniforms). So appearance and presentation is on point. I can only chalk it up a them not wanting to deal with a black man. Now, we don't have anything to distinguish management from reagular sales associates, so the minute I show up when there's a call for a manger, I get the attitude and disbelief. Or even worse, just on a base level, I'll ask a customer if they need help with anything. They tell me no, and turn around and ask the next associate for help. The best part is when the associate that they asked for help has to turn around and ask ME anyways. I wish I could just tell them to get the fuck on somewhere cuz' you blew it, I already asked you once before, but appearently I wasn't good enough then.....

I had the same thing happen to me when I was about 10 years younger.

I was a District Manager in training for jiffy lube. It was an intern position I earned thru school with my academics and potential. I would walk in and employees would hit their best behavior. Address me as sir or Mr off rip. Out in Kingwood (rich part of Houston) them CAC's didn't get it when I'd walk in bitching about expenses to revenue, OT, getting on the white manager about store cleanliness, etc. I went down in the pit in one of the stores (the part underneath the car where they actually change the oil) and this old redneck was like WHO DOES THAT BOY THINK HE IS??? Another lady came in (whom I knew because her father was a higher up at shell oil and had fled the country because he was under investigation for taking kickbacks from interstate batteries) told the manager once MY DAD WILL FOR THAT N***ER OF HE KEEPS TREATING YOU LIKE THIS. I get it BAD in the south.

Same thing now. I'm in the wine industry. so to see a kid from the hood discussing vintages, vineyards, regions where wine was made, the climate on that region and how it affected the wine, how long to age the wine, wine/food pairings etc they look at me like I got a tail. And what's bad is I don't even know a lot about wine my knowledge is very limited but when I get to talking the little I know they're in awe. I know they want to say something but a lot of them just hold it in. But I can see the look on their faces and it's one of complete awe and looks of WOW I WASN'T EXPECTING THAT.....

Yes it is.White people are apart of EVERYTHING black people do because they don't face that "why are you alive??" discomfort from us like we face around them.
I've been to too many spots around tha DMV where that type of vibe immediately can be sensed and if you are with other Black folks they will comment on it to.
DMV is very liberal but very fake on race relations.

Love it when this happens. I playfully say something like..

"Wow, Tom, your blackspeak is REALLY good. If I was to close my eyes, I'd swear I was speaking to a black man (you can use 'woman' interchangeably here)"

Then I'll call over the nearest co worker.

"Hey coworker, listen to Tom's blackspeak. Go ahead Tom, speak black to coworker. Show him how good you are"

Works everytime. Not only do you embarrass their stupid asses by calling them out, but they are also embarrassed by the sound of them talking in manner which is not their own.

its happened a few times
for example

my friend's birthday party in the city. 4 of us get the early before he even gets. We all black and its not even primetime yet but they are filled to capacity and the only way we get in is if we do bottle service. But on the low they let 2 white dudes in without issue.

or just being singled out for bullshit dresscode violations. one time a spot told my cousin his slacks (not jeans and he was the only one not wearing jeans) were too baggy

or getting asked to show ID on campus by a BLACK security guard for no reason

This is a good one, I almost forgot about it.....
Had a white coworker ask ME if I was married to a white woman. I asked him what would make him assume that and ask. He told me because I was always reading books on my break, we've had numerous conversations on a wide variety of topics, I talked about my wife and kids all the time, and that I just didn't SEEM like an average young black man(he thought I was a lot older). He was from northern Indiana, wanna be punk rocker/hippie type...he was real cool up until that point, and I had to set him straight. He just couldn't understand why I was insulted by his asking. He said where he was from, he didn't see a lot of young black men like me, and that "smart" black men usually marry white women. The more this convo continued, the more dumb ass shit spewed from his mouth. I finally had to tell dude to shut the fuck up!!! It's crazy how when white people think that once they are your "friend", all the racist shit comes out in the form of dumb ass questions and comments, and they try to be offended that YOU'RE OFFENDED

Oh, and the latest shit that I IMMEDIATELY put a stop to when I hear it....when them cacs say something is "ghetto". I'm sitting in a meeting one day and literally had to school this bitch, on the spot, in front of everyone!!! I went all Al Sharpton on her. Later, the store manager came to me and told me that she was scared of me now and that she wanted to have a meeting with me, her, and the store manager about my outburst. I agreed, and laid into her some more, about her cultural insensitivity, overt racism, yada-yada-yada....pretty much that chart that was posted in this thread about micro-aggression. Good times were had that day

I have done retail in white areas before...you gotta know this is because they assume if there is a commission to be had, they won't give it to a black person.


In restaurants, if a white/east Indian patron is seated in a black server's area, they spot the first white/asian server and ask for a "better" seat to fuck up that tip or even worse, they don't want a black person touching their plate.


I've been in Atlanta most my life and to be quite honest, I get worse service from the black bitches in places like Lenox Mall than any redneck at a gas station down in the bumfuck areas of Alabama or Mississippi.

When I use to work for cacs, Blacks was only hiring as laborers and whites was hired in office positions. Whites were paid more IF hired in a labor/warehouse position. Here's the twist, they'd hire a couple blacks at a higher pay rate but cut their hours to where they was making minimum wage. At the end of the day black workers were told, "thanks for your help! " ... White workers were told, "see you tomorrow dude!".

I swear I STILL want to call the NAACP on a couple companies and file a lawsuit. I just felt it's hard to prove there's was a disadvantage and unfairness to black workers. Especially since one Jew women bitch boss married a Hispanic kat from South America.

Hell just the last week or so. A position came open on our exchange team. I step to the manager and asked whether he was going to hire internally (since it was a entry level position) or hire someone with exp from the outside. He said someone already BES certified. 2 weeks later hired a white boy fresh out of Bestbuy that started same day I did.

I been there bruh. I fucking been there SEVERAL times. When I contemplated killing all my white coworkers and boss, I knew it was time I did something on my own as a steady source of income. Motherfuckers be coming to work jolly as hell too, bragging on their new boat and ski trips or thier new house and cute wittle puppy... While black/hispanic workers wondering how they're going to feed their family the next day.
