...it's subconscious. We as black people perceive ourselves as being strong, and our women are certainly very assertive and opinionated.
I guess, on some level, we have a difficult time seeing assertive and opinionated people as victims, even if they are underage females.
I've known vastly physically inferior black women to stand up tall to men and pop shit like this dude didn't have significant inches and pounds on them.
When you grow up in a culture that prides itself on it's strength...
...there is little to no respect for weakness. We are taught this and observe this at a young age.
So, the thinking tends to be, if this is what happened with R. Kelly, that is what they wanted to happen.
Our culture is TOO macho. It is still pervasive in our community to consider people with psychological problems weak for seeking help. No one black should kill themselves under any circumstances. Too many of us just can't compute that...
...we should be able to endure ANYTHING, 'cause ... well, we're black.
