Houston teen in viral video arrested over filmed assault

The teen girl that became a web flashpoint for the viral video showing her beating up another girl has now been arrested by Harris County deputies for assault.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office confirmed that incident seen on the video and the incident that the juvenile was arrested for are one and the same.

The minute-and-a-half long clip showed a girl named Sharkeisha pummeling her victim with fierce fists and a brutal kick. It was uploaded to Instagram and Twitter on Nov. 19 and reached its apex of popularity as a featured video on World Star Hip Hop.

The video reportedly is reported to have over 12 million cumulative views online.

Harris County officials confirmed that a charge of assault with bodily injury has been filed against a northwest Harris County teen, 16, who punched and kicked another teen girl at an apartment complex located at 9100 Mills Rd in the Cypress area. The charge is a Class A misdemeanor offense.

The victim identified herself as Shamichael Manuel, 17, in an interview with KHOU-TV after the video went viral.

The juvenile suspect was arrested Thursday morning and is in Harris County Juvenile Probation Department custody.

I'm tired of seeing these brutal assaults used as entertainment there should be repercussions for some of these violent assaults.....these cacs talk about cyber bullying but its dead silence when scumbag sites like worldstar make a profit on the backs of our youths ignorance.

Just now...Harris Counting Sheriff department is really on that bullshit. That chick had a good couple of weeks to chill before they actually came and got her. After a while I bet she felt like nothing was going to happen.

Besides the fact her name was Sharkeshia (:smh:) and the video went viral, this was no different than any other fight among High School girls fighting over some boy during or after school that happen everyday across the country for decades.​

no it's actually a lot different...fights takes two people, this was assault..if she would have sneaked up behind her and hit her with a bottle would that have been ok too?


...and for the record you can get arrested for fighting been that way for decades...:hmm:

I've seen girls fight and one get her head pushed thru glass, I seen girl fights were a chick fainted and was still attacked, I've seen girls jump a chick, I've seen a girl beat a chick with a keyboard and I've seen them sucker punched. Yes, that was all in High School and in the quite ass Heartland, this was nothing and I think you know it's really nothing if you take the time to think about when you were in HS. She put her two licks in and the fight was done. Again, this little two hitter quitter was nothing.

Girls this age will always fight and usually over some boy. Most of the young girls weren't usually that hostile day-to-day, but those young emotions are a bitch. They're young, extremely emotional and dealing with their sexuality for the first time. This happens on a daily basis, the ONLY reason you care is because it went viral but it's FAR from out the ordinary for young girls with a personal issue. Ain't like this was random or Sharkeisha has some known history we know about. Y'all acting like she's some threat to society cuz she did what a million other little girls have done to other girls when they feel wronged. It was a personal matter and this is how a lot of young girls deal with it, it's unfortunate but it's growing pains for plenty of girls their age.​

They did that with The Jena 6. Racially attempted to charge them with attempted murder but I'm sure we all remember that crazy episode. Most of the time charges aren't pressed because it's a schoolyard fight. If the injuries are serious enough tho it could come to that.

This wasn't really a fight. She jumped the girl and sucker punched her and was about to start wailing on her and beat her down even further. You can thank social media for this thing becoming a legal matter. Were it not filmed and uploaded it probably would have just been another fight between teenagers over a boy.

Yup, I remember in Jr High there would huge crowds to watch fights. I remember seeing a chick get stripped to her underwear, bra was ripped off. Someone came out their house and gave her a blanket. nobody got arrested.
