Google Chromecast

Install the chromecast extension in your chrome desktop browser and cast the tab.

Pandora also works

Thanx I'm currently trying to stream from my G3.

Any links on that extension?

I love it for the YouTube use.

I can be on my phone or tablet, and easily share a video directly on the screen for everyone to watch.

I love watching YouTube videos on the bigger screen as opposed to the phone/tablet screen.

I mainly use mine with YouTube than anything else.

Yep thats what I use it for mainly.

Switches my tv the right input automatically when I hit that button.

Wish mine did that. I have a slightly older TV

didnt work for me till i plugged it into the usb for power instead of the power cord. yea its convenient. wish it switched the input back when its been idle for x amount of minutes but thats asking for alot i guess.

i just want google to start approving the apps.

I go to stream MY fucking music from this thing. I never tried it before. Should be simple as shit. Get the message that I can't stream sideloaded music. :hmm: Still not letting app developers unlock the potential.

what do you mean? i was able to place a file in the browswer and stream to my chromecast and my cousin

I have my workout music on my tablet. I never tried to stream it from the tablet before. I tried to stream it. That sideload shit came on.

I never paid attention to the "cast" feature in the music player. I just figured I'd give it a try and it didn't work. Just find the shit pathetic this far into the product being on the market. I'm surprised they haven't found a way to kill the chrome browser workaround yet. :smh:

Forgot all about this, i just ordered mine it should be here next week

loving mine.

netflix
youtube movies
noobroom
icefilms
couchtuner.eu
hbogo

once they open it up it'll be game over.

you using the browser of some type of app....my shit collecting dust for real but i'd use it more if i had hbo go

Use my chromecast damn near three or four times a week, especially Sunday (NFL and AMC). It's definitely worth the $38 spent. My Roku 2 is still the boss the boss though.

youtube and netflix work where u can cast the movie and then use the laptop for something else cuz its not pulling the stream from the computer.

everything else i use the chrome browser extension.
download the chromecast extension.
click "cast this tab", put the video in full screen mode....
and it streams from any other site.

What was it hyped to do, that it doesn't?

It does exactly what its supposed to do with the applicable apps. While this is very true, most folks want to stream their own videos and other media from phone/tablet/pc to the tv. That is what most folks are waiting on so they think it failed.

There are a number of other devices most of us own that do that now. Besides, isn't there a Plex app already?

Chromecast did not live up to the hype..it still was a good deal though!

$35 let me...
- stream any content directly to my tv
- run presentations from a laptop without a projector
- watch movies on youtube/netflix without using the computer.
- $24 netflix credit means the net cost was $11

this and chromebooks prolly the best tech values of the year.
and when the apps start dropping and it streams local content.
it'll prolly be the device of the year 2014.

Google has just announced that HBO Go is now available on Chromecast.

This means that Chromecast owners with an HBO Go subscription can now stream HBO’s content from their Android or iOS device, as well as the HBO Go web app.

Can anyone tell me which firmware version allows playback from local storage? I'd like to get one that has that capability, but don't know what to look for. Are the newest ones shipped with the latest locked down firmware, and if so, can it be rolled back, to the more flexible version?

i think u had to get in on the 1st batch and then not allow the update.

It was hyped up because of the possibility of 3rd party apps, at least that is why I got it. Everything it does I already could with my tvs. The potential of people developing their own apps was the shit to me!

I have smart tvs so I was always able to stream youtube, netflix etc via share button on my devices. Shit I even had the "cast" option on my devices way before chromecast came out. For sites like xvideos I would just use my browsers on the tvs

i hear. browsers on smart tvs usually suck or dont stream video or stop afte a few min due to lack of memory but if urs works out for u i dont see y u would need chromecast.
