Anthony Bennett.. possibly the worst #1 pick since Candyman?

Candy man? Nah be lmaoo

I'm surprised Jordan didn't take Bennett lmaoo

How did he do during the preseason?

Too early to call him a bust, he's had some injuries

Why in the fuck would you take a tweener with the #1 pick

This was a bad draft

and this is a team that didn't need a 1 or 4.

Plus they got a 2 last year

So that ruled out Oladipo, Mclemore and Zeller

Noel...they have Varejao, and he might miss all of this year. They have Bynum for that.

So it was clearly Porter or Bennett

Then I actually would have worked out a trade down for a nice vet and picked in the teens, which is where Bennett should have gone. No freaking way would I waste a #1 pick on a tweener...
:hmm:

Too early to call him a bust

Look at Evan Turner

Dude isn't even in shape yet

Two completely different cases, and Turner wasn't THIS bad his first 6 games. Not saying he's not going to be a decent pro, but as a #1, you show SOME signs even if you struggle, and dude hasn't shown much of anything skill wise to qualify a #1 pick on him.

Turners issue was clearly Collins, and it shows the instant he's not under his thumb.

#1 pick was kind of high for Bennett. Regardless I am rooting for the kid, it's still early in the season though, hope he gets confidence up ASAP.

Yeah, Turner just sucked for a season and a half

Turner's problems weren't Collins. It's that for his whole career he was used to having the ball versus playing off it. Now with Holiday gone, him and Young are the primary scorers.

Dudes saying a player is a bust after a few games :smh:

He balled the fuck out in the preseason, I think he's just nervous. Like Complex said we needed a 3 and I personally wanted Porter but when I finally saw him play I was cool with it.

 Ok, and I've seen Evan play over 200 times so far in his career and anyone with any knowledge of him, the Sixers or his game knows it was totally and completely on Collins. Even players within the organization talked about how Collins rode him behind closed doors so... Believe what you want to believe Sir. Obviously you haven't seen the completely different player Turner has become with Collins gone...

Bennett isn't showing ANY signs of being anything more than at most, a decent role player in the league. Even before the draft he wasn't considered a #1 pick, and has done nothing to validate this pick in any capacity so... 6 games or not, he is not a #1 pick, both in potential or in skill set, even in this weak draft.

Felt this way before the start of the season, most people outside of Cleveland did, and he's done nothing but proved the assessment so far...
:hmm:

He did well, but the preseason was against rookies and players who are trying to get put on... I'm sure he could ball out against D-League comp, which is what the preseason is. Like I said, I like Bennett to a point, but not as a #1. I still think you guys would have been better suited to trade down with the pick, pick up a proven 3,4, even as a role player, and fortified the roster with a teens type talent, which I still believe Bennett is...

So who was a number one pick in this draft?

Because none of them were

Shit like this is why I have no issues with the NBA making players wait one year to be eligible. Hell I wouldn't even mind up to 3 years. Go overseas or to the d league and polish your game if you don't wanna go to college. The point of the lottery is to make bum ass teams better the next year. Looks like the Cavs will have a handful of ping pong balls next year too.

He has a lot of talent but he is a super tweener. They probably should have drafted Ben McLemore.

A veteran role player/a draft pick in the teens = #1 Pick in THIS Draft :hmm:

Man when selecting a top pick you can't draft based on need

It's best player available

How many times have teams learned the hard way on this

Nobody was trading up in a weak draft

And they still had to deal with the salary cap and salaries matching.

Didn't say veteran star homie, and there are ALWAYS trade partners at draft time... Philly and NO proved that. Actually the Cavs had offers and refused... :hmm:

Nah bro, there was nothing about this guy that said #1 overall. Nothing. It was a horrible pick from jump. Oladipo would have been a perfect bench player early on in a three guard rotation. His added dimension would have been instant offense, athleticism, ability to play 3positions and good defense and great rebounding for his size. Bennett was just awful all around. You dont fuck around with projects when you win the lottery. You take the best player off the board and you make that muthafucker work. They went for a fucking reach and so far its beyond a fuck up. And to make matters worse, on top of having no true position or NBA skillset, he has poor work ethic. Hes overweight as fuck and trying to play your way into shape as a rookie will only result in poorer than normal play and/or injury. Horrendous pick.

Basically... Jokers outsmarted themselves :smh:
