"I’m tired of the manipulation," said Michael Jackson, who was reluctant to allow the media to tape his brief remarks. "The press has manipulated the truth. They’re liars. History books are a lie. You need to know this, you must know this, that all forms of popular music, from jazz to rock to hip-hop, and dance, from the jitterbug to the Charleston, are black. But go down to the corner bookstore, and you won’t see one black person on a cover. You’ll see Elvis Presley. You’ll see the Rolling Stones. But where are the real pioneers?"

Citing Otis Blackwell [pictured] as one such pioneer deserving of larger recognition, Jackson said that there was something terribly amiss in a system that would find Blackwell dying penniless despite having penned such classics as “Don’t Be Cruel,” “All Shook Up” and “Great Balls of Fire.” “They didn’t write one book about him that I know of, and I’ve searched the world over,” Jackson said. “And he was a prolific, phenomenal writer.”

They had to stop this. America would not be the same if this had been allowed to flourish:(

Asoro Statue
This almost life-like statue was sculptured to the memory of Chief Asoro, a valiant brave man who died resisting the invading British forces during the expedition of 1897.During the siege on Benin it was said that chief Asoro ably defended the spot where the statue now stands He said “no other person dare pass this road unless the Oba” (So kpon Oba). It is this statement which has been corrupted
to become SAKPONBA This statue which is a salute to patriotism and loyalty is located on the king’s Square by the beginning of Sokponba Road,Benin City The spot where chief Asoro have died after fighting bravely.

Gong and Skilly

If the band wasn’t recording or rehearsing, everyone just milled around the Hope Road complex until Bob organized the afternoon soccer game. If there weren’t enough breddahs on hand for two full teams, the game took place informally on the front lawn at Hope Road. Conventional eleven-against-eleven matches were played on the Boy’s Town field or on the police depot grounds in Rae Town. Bob played inside right and was a strong darter and dribbler who preferred passing over shooting; he left the scoring to Alan, who he idolized. Cole was a native of East Kingston who had left his roots there years before to play for the Boy’s Town team in West Kingston—a very controversial move in a city that takes both neighborhood loyalty and football quite seriously. In the early 1970s he had gone to Brazil to play, and then he returned to lead the Jamaica Santos team. When he and Bob got chummy, the entire country took notice, their “football friendship” imitated by many boys in the ghetto who referred to their own best buddies as “Gong” or “Skilly.”

THE NAACP was never meant to help Black People.
It was a fraud from its very beginning.
