Breaking Bad *series finale 9/29/2013

Re: Breaking Bad *series finale 8/11/13

  • Hank went out like a man...he deals with criminals he knew the protocol
  • Marie is a bitch, why are you so eager to tear your sister's family apart?
  • Todd is trying to get that blue meth so he can go solo and make his own 80 mil
  • Kids always protect the mother intrinsically, even if the father is justified.
  • Heisenberg is going Rambo on those Nazi's next

If the Nazi's dont know about it, then he is doing it for the Lady he has a crush on.

Re: Breaking Bad *series finale 8/11/13

Is Breaking Bad better than The Wire?

Yes. The last season of The Wire was a clusterfuck. The whole newspaper/journalist writing fake stories was David Simon's axe to grind with his former profession. To make it worse, McNulty and the fake serial killer with the ribbon… :smh: That shit was awful. David Simon was screwed cause Ed Burns was shooting Generation Kill and Simon was left unchecked. That final season tarnished a previously flawless show. And if anyone disagrees you're just being a Stan.

The last 2 episodes of BB will determine if it surpasses The Wire/The Sopranos, the shows considered either #1 and #2 or #1a and #1b. So far it's on track to be the bestest.

this is a fair criticism of the wire, but wouldn't you also agree that vince gilligan was not a careful caretaker of his creation?

was michelle maclaren (and i like her work) distracted by her work on GOT?

or review the episodes he co-wrote with moira walley-beckett (pan am :puke:). a collection of some of the show's creative low points.

Re: Breaking Bad *series finale 8/11/13

im still fucked up by how "the shield" ended

How did you want it to end? Vic Mackey was alive but in hell. He lost his family, sold out his best friend and is off the streets. He's in jail just not in a cell.

Whoa......you talking rather reckless now. Its all debatable but The Wire was a clusterfuck? Even in its last season it was still one of the best seasons of television.

I fuck with Breaking Bad as well though. This season thus far is shaping up to be better than The Wire's last season but as a whole its two different shows. I don't think there are too many writers who can compete with The Wire and its list of characters and their character development. NOBODY. I don't even think The Wire can repeat that shit again.

Oh man I don't know if he means "fucked up" as emotionally or "fucked up" with disgust but man that shit 'till this day fucks me up. I don't remember if it was the last episode or the episode prior but that Shane shit still fucks me up how he went out. I've never seen a TV Show have the balls to do what The Shield did.

Will never understand the people on Team Walt. I haven't understood since day 1.

what's so difficult to understand?

the writers frame walt's criminality in sympathetic circumstances. the audience overlooks or absolves walt from some (if not all) of his actions due to those sympathetic circumstances.

same thing in 1993 with caine in menace to society. accomplice to murder in commission of a felony, drug dealer, grand theft auto, aggravated battery, conspiracy to commit murder, and multiple homicide.

and yet the audience still found themselves on team caine.

Or so much the vilification of Skyler and Jessie for me.

I want Walt to win. Why not for once let the bad guy finally get away.

Skyler just didn't know when to shut the fuck up and just listen to Walt for once. She's just as guilty as Walt because she knew everything he's done and when it benefited her, (paying her fuck buddies tax bill) her morals didn't matter. Jessie is a pussy because he's been doing dirt with Walt from the beginning. They've been going the illegal way for five years and now he wants to involve the cops.

Re: Breaking Bad *series finale 8/11/13

So is everybody happy with the gunfight now ?
^^^^^^^^^

I don't care if they had the upper hand or not, we would have had to negotiate me getting more than one barrel of my money.
You can buy the same thing with 11million that you can with 80million. And negotiating terms at that point was the last thing on Walts mind.

...dude basically ate the whole rap, dead Hank and everything.
Yea.

Is Breaking Bad better than The Wire?
Foh.

To call the last season a clusterfuck is extreme hyperbole. To use the term clusterfuck to support your opinion that BB is a better show is extreme hypocrisy. Despite some of the storylines being unnecessary and at times disjointed and ill flowing, they were far more plausible then 80% of the shit we've seen on BB. Bogus journalism and law enforcement fudging stats are more common than some of s would like to think. Certainly more common than a science teacher turned scarface who gets away with murdering mexican cartel kingpins and their affiliates who run multi-million dollar drug enterprises.

The Wire>>>The Shield>>> BB

and I hope marie.. his bitch ass son and skyler get it...

Re: Breaking Bad *series finale 8/11/13

Or so much the vilification of Skyler

actress anna gunn recently wrote this op/ed in the ny times, addressing the deep dislike of her character.

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/08/24/opinion/i-have-a-character-issue.html?_r=1&

i have listened to anna gunn comment on the character of skyler white in other forums, and i am dismissive of her observations. she alternately blames viewer reaction to skyler on misogyny and collective (male?) perceptions of women and wives.

while those motivations may apply to some, ms. gunn should steer clear of the feminist bullshit and recognize that viewers might not be able to stomach skyler's self righteous and highly convenient selective indignation.

to be clear, skyler white is a CO-CONSPIRATOR in a criminal enterprise. skyler white has WILLINGLY colluded with her spouse to engage in, and benefit from, the fruits of an illegal enterprise.

skyler white continuously forfeited any and all right to condemn walt for his actions when she participated in ted's tax fraud, paid for hank's medical expenses, suggested purchasing the car wash for money laundering, and paid ted's IRS debt.

Yea, i had the near exact same response when i first saw her bullshit piece. Between that piece (of shit) and her commentary on Talking Bad i gather that she isnt a very bright individual in general.

Re: Breaking Bad *series finale 8/11/13

Will never understand the people on Team Walt. I haven't understood since day 1.

Do you have kids? Even if you don't agree, you might be able to understand on that level. Walt wasn't a natural gangster, but a guy who found the crooked way to work for him, like the Vito Corleone, who no one seems to hate the way they have come to hate Walt.

I remain firmly Team Walt. I have no problem with him because I have so many problems with supposed "good guys." In my opinion, people who think they are being "objective" in determining good and evil are in denial. The only person in this show that I would say has a right to moral high ground might be Gomez, but I'm pretty sure he violated the constituion at least once in this show too, I gotta rewatch some episodes to be sure.

That last call to his wife confirmed what his motivation always was. He is still trying to keep his cheating ass wife clear of the shit. I am not judging, just understanding.

And for the record, Mackey straight up WON in the Shield. His punishment was to be a special agent for ICE. Motherfuck the "crime doesn't pay" bullshit.

Re: Breaking Bad *series finale 8/11/13

So basically, y'all put Skyler in a damned-if-she-do-damn-if-she-don't scenario.

When she first found out about Walt's new profession and tried to get him to stop:

Team Walt said:
MAN FUCK THAT BITCH SHE DON'T APPRECIATE SHIT HER HUSBAND DOES FOR HIS FAMILY!!:angry:

When she tried to make the best out of the situation by covering for Walt's ass and doing her part to keep her family under the radar.

Team Walt said:
MAN FUCK THAT BITCH SHE'S JUST AS DIRTY AS WALT!!

IJS, I concede she isn't a saint but she isn't exactly the devil sitting on Walt's shoulder either. Look at it this way: you have a pregnant wife and a special-needs teenager. Would you expect your woman to turn you in if it meant she and the kids ending up on the curb? She was making decisions because of a fucked up situation her husband put her in. On top of keeping the secret from her neurotic sister who's married to the federali, and her son who bestowed the name Bitch upon her whenever the direction of the wind changed direction because of it.

I don't get it, but I'm cool with it. Personally I won't be satisfied with the story if Walt doesn't end up aerated or sitting in a gas chamber before the credits roll for the last time. Not that I don't like him, but at the end of the day he's a bad guy with an occasional guilty conscience. It ain't like he came up in the life like Avon and Stringer, he genuinely chose that life and on many occasions he has been shown not to be bout it. And y'all keep on liking to pretend that he doesn't have innocent blood on his hands too.

Re: Breaking Bad *series finale 8/11/13

Oh yeah and hold up!! Am I tripping or did Walt not cheat on Skyler with his ex-business partner's wife?? Isn't that why he left Grey Matters?

Re: Breaking Bad *series finale 8/11/13

i believe you are incorrect

Please enlighten me. I recall 2 distinct conversations in the show between her and Walt, including one where she wanted to extend her apologies to Skyler.

Edit: nevermind, just read the wiki. The timeframe of their relationship isn't made very clear.

didn't walt and gretchen's relationship pre-date walt's marriage to skyler?

isn't the fact that gretchen got with elliot (and later became successful in part due to walt's work) part of how the writer's create sympathy for walt as the underdog?

did either of these 2 conversations you "recall" have anything to do with an affair?

gretchen's comments to skyler were about paying for walt's medical bills, were they not?

Re: Breaking Bad *series finale 8/11/13

I added on to my last post a few minutes after the fact. I read up on it and there's ambiguity to the timeframe for when Walt stopped fucking with Gretchen and started fucking with Skyler. Realistically, it could be years so I'll leave it alone. I think I misinterpreted the timeframe where Skyler found the second cellphone, she probably thought Walt was cheating with her presently.

*SPOILER* if you never watched the shield

thats why it was fucked up and when his boy killed himself n his family

Re: Breaking Bad *series finale 8/11/13

no, it remains trite, predictable bullshit.

i called everything.

hank and gomez bought it. check.

hank goes execution style. check.

whites kidnap jessie to cook. check.

whites punk walt for the money. check.

the seahawks 49ers game was more entertaining, and it was a blow out.

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
But I bet you sat there and watched the entire hour and four minutes though

Re: Breaking Bad *series finale 8/11/13

Ozymandias
I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed:
And on the pedestal these words appear:
"My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!"
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away
.

notice how this season there have been many references to Walt making people "SAY MY NAME"

Even when Hank is about to die..."His NAME is Hank."

"My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!"
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away"

This pretty much summaries the ENTIRE season...

the descent into Heisenberg and the complete loss of Walt.
His NAME being so powerful his BLUE being so well known.
And everything he knows and loves and cherishes is lost...

in the sand.

Oh and the REAL Heisenburg died of cancer.

Loved that season. Loved how they showed the newsroom work and that season is the reason I got into the series Newsroom that is on now.

Also loved the fake serial killer story line...McNulty was out of control....

Re: Breaking Bad *series finale 8/11/13

Damn that shit actually took me by surprise.

Jessie's bitch ass is getting exactly what he deserves. Tethered to a cook house for the rest of his miserable life.

Sklyar does not deserve to get away scott free. Fuck that her ass is so wishy washy it's not even funny. She was all ready to kill Jessie to preserve their family but Hank posed a much bigger threat but killing him is the end of the line. :smh:

Hank went out like a soldier. Still fuck Walt to the very end.

Walt still saving exonerating his wife was something I could not do. :smh:

My thing is yeah he might have saved her from prosecution but the family as a whole is still going to be destitute. I have to imagine A.T.F./D.E.A is going to seize everything they have including the car wash as profiting from ill gotten gains. How will Walt be able to get them any money for quite some time? Won't they be under a microscope for a long time if not the rest of their lives?

At any rate i'm excited to see how the show wraps up.

I'm cheering hard for Walt but rarely does the "Bad Guy" win.

Re: Breaking Bad *series finale 8/11/13

I've been racking my brain trying to think of movies/tv shows where the bad guy wins/gets away with it.

I came up with Seven, the Silence Of The Lamb movies, Primal Fear, and my favorite Keyser Soze from the Usual Suspects.

Can yall think of any?

Re: Breaking Bad *series finale 8/11/13

He did all this shit for his family and they just turn on him like that!

turned on his ass quickly.. Skylar didn't even wait to confirm if he was locked up or not because the starting talking.

Re: Breaking Bad *series finale 8/11/13

Y'all slow. He just got his wife off the hook.

He know he cant survive this but now skylar wont go down as well

sent from my s4

yeah... as soon as he said 'how would you know...you don't know anything about my business" everyone should have known that he was pretty much setting her free

Re: Breaking Bad *series finale 8/11/13

Stop saying Walt did all this for his family. That was his intentions when he started but once he got into it and felt the power associated he did all this for his inner greed and self respect. When he was working at the car wash and teaching basically everyone pissed on him when he became the drug dealing killer basically he was doing the pissing.
