It's easy to hate on his family, but they really don't know what Walt has been through.

Jr. hears his pops is a drug lord. Then that he might be in jail for life. Then he is the house wildin out. Then you find out he killed your Uncle. Then a dangerous knife fight with your mother he it seemed was trying to protect you. Most cats would go crazy too.

As for Skylar, she was never 100% on board with Walt. Besides, he did rape her at one point and he's not 100% with her (not saying he should be, but she thinks he should be). Once she found out bout Hank, she figures "Well he's killing family now, so he's lost it"

Re: Breaking Bad *series finale 8/11/13

I think Walt lost it When Hank was shot. His parting shot to Jesse was one of the coldest I've seen in all my years watching TV. On the other hand I unlike a lot of People don't see Jesse as the Moral center of the show. Jesse is a fucking junkie wanna be player. He just doesn’t have the stomach for what it takes and he is undisciplined. He is the blame for most of Walt's problems throughout the series because he wouldn't listen. In the end I Think Jesse gets away during a Walt/Hisenburg showdown with those Nazi assholes or Jesse and Walt have a showdown in the desert. I did have one crazy thought. What if all this turns out to be one of Skylars short stories. She used to write in the 1st season. What if all this was one of her stories she planned to sell.

Am I the only one disappointed in AJ?

nope.

I actually thought Gilligan was gonna do the epic twist where the son either got murked or sided with Walt.

this WAS much more realistic and an excellent trigger to the complete immersion into evil.

But Walt is REALLY not thinking and being COMPLETELY emotional.

Trying to save Hank?

I KNEW they were BOTH gonna go...

Ultimately his downfall.

If he had just killed Jessie THERE...

but he didn't think about the cook or anything else.

and then revealing he watched her die?

Complete hubris...and dumb.

Should have just spit in his face.

Liked how he gave yet ANOTHER taped confession except this time he exonerated Skyler...

who has FINALLY disappointed the hell out of me completely.

"Mama" was a nice touch.

Really thought they were gonna make Skyler THAT bitch...:smh:

This ending has been epic and has made me SO angry at shows like LOST who had even MORE time to end properly and completely shit the bed.

couldnt co sign this hard enough

I knew it was going to be a hell of a show today but gotdamn the way it played out surprised me. I thought Hank was going to make it to the final episode.....i thought Jesse ass was going to be a goner!!

Then the way Opie saved Jesse and got him cooking was fucking genius i never even thought about that! Then the subliminal message he sent Jesse with the picture of Brook on the wall was crazy. Everything was so unexpected this episode! Good shit indeed:yes::yes::yes:

Even him clearing Skylar of all wrong doing caught me off guard i for sure as hell thought he was going to sell her out. Just off this episode alone i really wouldnt care how it ended long as its not to stupid. Give us a well written last 2 episodes and this joint going in my top 3

Re: Breaking Bad *series finale 8/11/13

Jesse taught Walt how to cook.
Walt taught Jesse how to prefect it.

Jesse was a cook, Walt was the chef.

Definitely a great episode tonight, and that's why we've all followed this show over time.

this show really makes the viewer THINK like a criminal...

I was yelling at the TV that FNL wasn't gonna kill him cause of the COOK.

Remember he couldn't get that purity up and has a huge crush on that exec chick.

We KNEW Hank was a goner the MINUTE he called Marie and said "I got him."

But were STILL shocked. This is some of the best writing EVAH!

I had a discussion was a a dude who writes screenplays and he said THIS show is the closest to the Wire cause of the way EVERYTHING is connected AND plausible...yet COMPLETELY unexpected.

The Greek Tragedy symbolism and Dante inferno inspired scene, having Jessie CHAINED to the lab (his own personal hell) looking at the life he COULD have had and PLUS working for crazy Todd!!!

But damnnit I can't believe I was so wrong about Skylar becoming Queen Bitch and all the haters were right!!!

We pretty much know NOW that Walt is gonna save Jessie from the White Power dudes with the HUGE gun and poison and Jessie will probably kill him for watching his girlfriend die (Walt KNOWING he is gonna die of cancer anyway exonerating Jessie).

In the end Walt actually saves EVERYONE.

Which is gonna piss me off to NO END cause then Jessie becomes some type of innocent "corrupted" by Walt which is complete bullshit....but I could see it if they have Jessie go back to the girl and have a family.

Something Walt ALWAYS wanted for him.

Re: Breaking Bad *series finale 8/11/13

both shows are damn good in their on right........

i would seriously have to wait to see how it ends before i make that call.

It's definitely been the golden age of TV, as many have pointed out in the 2000s. We've been blessed with a shitload of all-time shows, with many loving the fact that most of the series are better than a shitload of the movies out there these days. Big ups to specialty cable on the real ... imagine how watered down these shows would be if they got canned or timeslot-fucked by the major networks like NBC, CBS, ABC, etc.

- The Sopranos
- The Wire
- The Shield
- Lost
- Breaking Bad
- Mad Men
- The Walking Dead
- Game of Thrones
- Dexter
- Boardwalk Empire
- Etc.

Re: Breaking Bad *series finale 8/11/13

Is Breaking Bad better than The Wire?

No.

Not just the group of actors and extraordinary writing but the social aspect of it was so bold. It immense and dense and smart.

It has never been done and will never be done again.

they are to completely different genres of drama.

Breaking Bad should be seen in every writing class forever.

But because it is the child of The Shield, Sopranos, Mad Men etc...

even though it is better it still in that white criminal anti-hero vein.

You will never see characters like Marlo, Stringer, Omar, Clay Davis etc...again.

White OR Black.

I think a better question is how it ranks against shows in its class like the ones I mentioned earlier.

Because those shows are considered groundbreaking and iconic.

and I would argue only Mad Men really stands up and I could be convinced that Breaking Bad is better just based on the time that it aired and the economic realities in the the country.

And the Mr. Chips into Scarface?

WOW

Re: Breaking Bad *series finale 8/11/13

im still fucked up by how "the shield" ended

:yes::yes::yes:

i am one of the few that liked the ending...

I wouldn't count the final episode by itself...

I think you should take that WHOLE final season JUST like Breaking Bad as the finale.

All the death and carnage...Vic finally in the box himself having to confess

Vic sitting there at that desk filled piled high with papers

completely neutered...defeated

and hears those sirens and just gets up gets his gun and runs out?

Loved that...

they REALLY should have had a follow-up movie or something...

Cause I would LOVE to see what Vic is up to NOW.

Re: Breaking Bad *series finale 8/11/13

  • Hank went out like a man...he deals with criminals he knew the protocol
  • Marie is a bitch, why are you so eager to tear your sister's family apart?
  • Todd is trying to get that blue meth so he can go solo and make his own 80 mil
  • Kids always protect the mother intrinsically, even if the father is justified.
  • Heisenberg is going Rambo on those Nazi's next

Re: Breaking Bad *series finale 8/11/13

Y'all telling me mad men is on breaking bad level ?

I need to watch that show now

walt needs a reason to go back for jesse tho

Re: Breaking Bad *series finale 8/11/13

this fucking clow is fucking talking on a line land :smh::smh::smh:

He did that on purpose. He knew the cops were there. He said all of that "It was ALL ME!!!" "I built this" "You were always trying to get me to stop" in order to let Skyler off the hook and put everything on him.....

Re: Breaking Bad *series finale 8/11/13

So is everybody happy with the gunfight now ?

no, it remains trite, predictable bullshit.

i called everything.

hank and gomez bought it. check.

hank goes execution style. check.

whites kidnap jessie to cook. check.

whites punk walt for the money. check.

the seahawks 49ers game was more entertaining, and it was a blow out.

unfortunately, in real life that wouldn't fly.

but even if we suspend reality and enter the show fiction for a minute, would marie schrader let that fly, now that she is a widow?

would walt jr. let that fly, considering his reaction in the office and again later in the car?

Re: Breaking Bad *series finale 8/11/13

Is Breaking Bad better than The Wire?

in terms of entertainment, let's call it even. why not?

in terms of quality? not close. not by a country mile.

above sopranos, which HBO left on air 1 season (both parts) too long.

and not to beat a dead horse, but not surprisingly, breaking bad is on par with x-files.

Re: Breaking Bad *series finale 8/11/13

so y'all agree with this now?

Naw I still think the "Crawl Space" episode in season 4 was the best but this was a damn good episode.

Walt is going to poison either Jesse or Todd's uncle with that ricen. He's going to get his money back, then.....get in a car accident at the end scene and die. He won't walk like Anton Chigur in No Country For Old Men.

Walt won't kill Jessie at this point. If they were going to have him die at Walt's hand's they would have killed him off in that dessert. I could see Jessie killing Walt at this point more than Walt offing Jessie.

I think he's definitely taking out the white power cats in these next two episodes though. I'm still curious to see how they end it though because Walt's death would be the obvious ending but this show is never obvious or cliche so I'm waiting anxiously.

Is Breaking Bad better than The Wire?

I don't think so but its a great show that can hold its own with any.

both shows are damn good in their on right........

i would seriously have to wait to see how it ends before i make that call.

true how they end this could propel this show into being even greater than it is now. So many shows have shitty endings if they can pull off a great ending that can determine where this show sits in terms of what shows it is better than and where it sits among the great shows of the last 15 years

Y'all telling me mad men is on breaking bad level ?

I need to watch that show now

Hell no.

Mad Men is a great show but nowhere near Breaking Bad IMO.

Mad Men has great writing but it is a dialogue heavy, cerebral show so it really can't be compared to alot of these shows.

Definitely check it out though.

Agree with all this except the sopranos was maybe on 2 seasons too long (both parts of the sixth and the fifth) and I've never seen xfiles so I can't speak on that.
