9th Wonder & Young Guru Debate/Explain Why Kendrick Lamar CANNOT LOSE At This Point

Re: 9th Wonder & Young Guru Debate/Explain Why Kendrick Lamar CANNOT LOSE At This Poi

The problem is he said he the king of NY

Some of you are still taking that line too literal.

He's saying he's the king of all of hip hop so by default he inherits every title that falls under that umbrella.

He just mentions the king of ny title specifically because it is, or at least was, a title that holds/held prestige.

Re: 9th Wonder & Young Guru Debate/Explain Why Kendrick Lamar CANNOT LOSE At This Poi

You make no sense

Radio play or not when you say you king of NY expect niggas to come for your head despite who you named specifically.

Ortiz sonned Lamar period and that shit was light work

I don't expect the niggas that Lamar named to respond cause them niggas soft baked cookies like that

He makes perfect sense. The idea that he consciously chose to not mention Slaugterhouse is laughable.

I'm actually at a point where I wish he didn't say "King of NY", because now we have guys like Mysonne feeling like they have to put the city on their shoulders.

Mysonne!!

I will say this though, over the past two days my feelings about the "I got love for y'all" caveat have done a 180. I've grown to love the psychology behind that line. A very jordanesque mind-game, as Guru and 9th mentioned.

Exactly

That little line got all these NY niggas tight and clearly couldn't see the big picture.

yup. he mentioned the only 2 who are relevant enough to take offense

everybody else scrambling.

if any more drop they get graded on a harder curve cause they been writing for 2 days now. ripping up hella paper and revising it like 20 times and called all the ghost writers in.

This shit is laughable

Ortiz came right back no waiting everybody else writing its going on 2 days

And it's expect for u Cali niggas to talk some NY niggas tight.. Ain't nobody tight

Like I said Lamar named specific dudes in his verse but the king of NY line he took a shot at everybody else so obviously it's expected for the true lyricist to respond ie Ortiz who wasted no time.

The king of NY line was a clear shot at everyone else including jay nas etc

You niggas can talk that other shit all y'all want lmao

Fwilla exactly had he left that king of NY line out then niggas like Maysonne and Fred the god son type niggas wouldn't be responding, only response that peeps want to hear is those who Lamar mentioned by name

Re: 9th Wonder & Young Guru Debate/Explain Why Kendrick Lamar CANNOT LOSE At This Poi

Ortiz went sideways on the kid without blinkin. Opened up with the classic, "I aint even gotta give this too much thought..." :smh:

You knew it was on then and Ortiz proceeded to calmly throw ham fisted punches until the bell rung.

"When we met you said, "it's an honor, man, the YAOWA man can spit
Maybe thats why you left me out of that shit.."

Kendrick tactically knew not to go after Ortiz or Slaughterhouse, cause pound for pound, he aint on these dudes level when it comes to lyrics.

"It was brave, you took a chance like a Monopoly card
But that telly you trying to check in, that property's ours.."

These were just battle raps, and he damn near KO'd him. Ortiz's response was the perfect opener. Not too much, but enough to put Lamar in his place.

Now wait till he hones in...

:itsawrap:

Kendrick doesn't need to respond. Joel put an entire song out because of one line about NY. We all know Kendrick doesn't believe he's the King of NY but it was a dope line. To get deeper into the NY line, he said he was Makaveli's offspring. They use to call Tupac New York, he might've been referring to that.

Joel got a little homotional talking about when he met Kendrick.

ortiz effort was good but nobody was put into place for the simple fact that kendrick hasn't responded yet.

once he responds and if those bars don't go toe to toe with ortiz then we can throw out those :itsawrap:
Once again no response is needed from Kendrick. It wasn't a diss record or a diss rhyme so why respond because rappers got emotional?

Kendrick didn't name drop niggas who get no radio play. That's
why he didn't say shit about slaughter house lmao, c'mon y'all.

Not only that but he was naming the new so called "Hot" rappers.

You make no sense

Those dudes that Kendrick named don't need to responded because hopefully they're intelligent enough to know it wasn't a diss. With the exception of Rocky every rapper that he named is trying to outshine whatever rapper's on the track with them. If you or any other rapper doesn't understand that that's on you.

Re: 9th Wonder & Young Guru Debate/Explain Why Kendrick Lamar CANNOT LOSE At This Poi

also they're acts who are big enough that they don't have to jump cuz kendrick "said so"...it's mostly dudes who need the quick publicity who are responding so fast...I'm pretty sure many of those mentioned will respond when the time is right for them w/o forcing it

Re: 9th Wonder & Young Guru Debate/Explain Why Kendrick Lamar CANNOT LOSE At This Poi

So Lamar is AI? I can dig that

Re: 9th Wonder & Young Guru Debate/Explain Why Kendrick Lamar CANNOT LOSE At This Poi

This shit is laughable

Ortiz came right back no waiting everybody else writing its going on 2 days

which is why i wasn't talking ortiz

And it's expect for u Cali niggas to talk some NY niggas tight.. Ain't nobody tight

what? you stayin on east vs west... ny rappers are up in arms

Like I said Lamar named specific dudes in his verse but the king of NY line he took a shot at everybody else so obviously it's expected for the true lyricist to respond ie Ortiz who wasted no time.

which is why i said i respected it from jump never said otherwise have i? lol

because he should keep it going.. just for competition sake

Let me guess you in Cali or from Cali right?

How was Ortiz response homotional? Lamar made the challenge on wax and Ortiz response was for wax purposes only didn't hear any personal jabs

Re: 9th Wonder & Young Guru Debate/Explain Why Kendrick Lamar CANNOT LOSE At This Poi

I tilt my hat off to Big Sean.
You can either tilt your cap or take your hat off. Pick one.

Yea, thats bullshit. I just heard Ortiz song on shade45 and there was nothing "homotional" about it. Dude made it clear this was about lyric and skill, even dissed gangsta, fashion, and skinny jeans rappers in making that clear.

Re: 9th Wonder & Young Guru Debate/Explain Why Kendrick Lamar CANNOT LOSE At This Poi

dudes had mega days to write shit Joell struck back quick so I cant really respect a mfer who gonna take 5 days

lol...what's the rush? nas took @ least a month to respond w/ ether + it revitalized his shit

Re: 9th Wonder & Young Guru Debate/Explain Why Kendrick Lamar CANNOT LOSE At This Poi

this will all be funny as shit if Kendrick don't blaze everyone he's ever on a track with for the rest of this year. Even funnier if his next album flops

Joell showed mfers this MCing shit is EZ to him

and I disagree em on Big Sean part cause that verse was trash but Jay Elect lyrics was nice but boring ass hell

Re: 9th Wonder & Young Guru Debate/Explain Why Kendrick Lamar CANNOT LOSE At This Poi

different situation that was beef that was about writing a diss track n finding the right beat, the right hook, the right concept

this is a challenge to show your skills which should shine through if u nice with it

I look @ them both as challenges plain + simple...and I just don't see any young artist w/ an established/promising career rushing to write shit to prove anything to kendrick in a day or two...hardly anyone will be talking about any of these rushed responses next week

Re: 9th Wonder & Young Guru Debate/Explain Why Kendrick Lamar CANNOT LOSE At This Poi

hopefully the fans demand more from their artists..

They won't. If it contains more songs w/808 bass heavy beats, niggas crooning on da hooks, trickdom, drugs & other superficial bullshit then it's all good. These new age niggas don't know nothin' about da lyricism of yesteryear like that.

On another note, niggas are REALLY gettin' in their feelings about not bein' mentioned. Bringing out all sorts of nobody's to respond to a perceived phantom "diss". :smh::lol:

He just mentions the king of ny title specifically because it is, or at least was, a title that holds/held prestige.

Had he not said that, most of these niggas comin' outta da wood works would remain in obscurity.

Da only niggas that ever cared about that shit is New Yawk niggas & da majority of them have to adhere to all things that sound Southern nowadays just to get a lil' buzz soooo...

me too, I might check his shit out now. props

Re: 9th Wonder & Young Guru Debate/Explain Why Kendrick Lamar CANNOT LOSE At This Poi

The Knicks, Nets, Yankees and Giants were already not worth a shit...now this. Tough week for NY.
