Mr Almon, you have been in the news recently with an ambitious plan to get African Americans invest about $230 billion by 2017, can you break down the vision in very simple terms for us?

Unless africa starts selling luxury cars, hair weave, and gym shoes, I don't see this plan working out to well.

Day dreaming....

Leave that to Indians and Chinese

Africans themselves are already making power moves

AA are late for this train

Fuck Africa. They letting the Chinese take them over. I am sick of these back to African headed niggas talking this invest in Africa bullshit over and over again. Africa has not lifted a finger to build with blacks in America. Do you all noticed that when people talk to black Americans about Africa it's always about us always doing something for Africa. It's never the other way around. It's always about us putting money into Africa. Why don't Africans who have wealth try to send some of that over here as well? It has to be a two way street.

It's always us putting in the effort. Black Americans got their own issues. Why should we be concerned with other people's issues when they are not with ours?

Also you dudes always try to guilt niggas who don't want to love or invest in Africa when they have good reason not to.

That's why I say fuck African booty scratchers.

Black Americans been here for 4 centuries, fought and came out of oppression without any of Africa's help.

I still don't understand why blacks feel they owe so much loyalty and respect to Africa. A place that has done nothing for them and shows no interest in them???

Now, I will invest in Africa as long as the return is great that it can fix the problems in the US ghettos. I could careless about what's going on in Africa.

But blacks should invest in their own communities in America, fuck Africa. Africans and these Back To Africa headed niggas just want to use you with that red, black, and green mumbo jumbo.

The country, United States of America, does NOT have $240 billion to invest
period. It would have to borrow the money from someone. Black Americans
do not have $240 billion, period. So where is this money coming from and why?
It would seem to me that cacs somewhere are using these black Americans as a
trojan horse to buy up our natural resources, and kick China out of the continent.
Is not curious that this grandiose scheme comes on the heels of Obama's
near futile trip to Africa last month?

Africa has all the natural resources. China, India, Europeans, and Arabs know this. It is good to see blacks in the diaspora catching on.

Re: Game Changing Mission? African Americans Could Invest $230 Billion In Africa By 2

Money is Money, I get it, but all this investment is it for a return on investment? Cultural exchange, population repatriation?

Re: Game Changing Mission? African Americans Could Invest $230 Billion In Africa By 2

The good people of Tulsa, Oklahoma tried that 100 years ago.

The legendary Marcus Garvey tried this as well.

The great Malcolm X tried that in the mid 60's.

If you are going to invest or establish diplomatic or economic ties with Africa be prepared to be killed, bombed or imprisoned.

That being said, for my people to put up such a violent resistance against Pan Africanism there has to be a TREMENDOUS payout involved.

Garvey was blocked from traveling to Africa which resulted in the UNIA's failure. Had Garvey gotten the chance to set foot in Africa colonialism would've been a wrap a decades before the independence movement started in Ghana.

Nkrumah advised Malcolm to move to Ghana based on intelligence he received however Malcolm declined.

I don't believe African Americans are endangered of being bombed, killed, etc for doing business in Africa these days. Plenty of brothas and sistas are doing well on the continent and living fantastic lives. You can get fabulous returns on your investment especially in commercial real estate. What we really need are more black construction companies bringing excellent craftsmanship and honest service. A lot of people are struggling to build homes and commercial properties due to dishonest business practices.

Re: Game Changing Mission? African Americans Could Invest $230 Billion In Africa By 2

Why don't we establish a strong economic base among Black Americans here?

When the Black dollar is stronger over here then if Africa (or any other country) wants to do some power deals we can set up negotiations for a fair exchange of wealth.

Until then we got to get our shit straight over here (black ownership, investing in black businesses, stronger black communities) before we can invest in other countries.

I don't get. Like there is some magic money in Africa. Bring your american money to Nigeria and it will get "chopped". The wealthiest Nigerians are not the smartest, but the most connected.

White people are using them as a trojan horse to get favourable terms in
Afriva. Where did Black America get $230 billion from? The US as a country
does not have $50 billion to invest anywhere; it is existing on deficit financing

It was complete, condescending bullshit, designed in part to try and wipe
out the nasty stain from Obama assassinating Ghaddafi, and sending
warplanes to intercept 6 African presidents on a plane to Libya, to try
and negotiate a peaceful solution. What was the result of the whole bullshit?
The US announced $35 billion in aid for 54 countries, or about $600 million
in "business" per country. The whole thing is a joke. Meanwile, the Chinks
have made plans to invest $100 billion a year, for the next 10 years in Africa....
Which is not a good thing either...These Obama types have made it the
cause of their lives, to deliver Africa to the cacs on a platter... Otherwise
they have no value to cacs.

There you all go whining as if we wanted, asked for this or are taking money
out of you pockets. This is $23 billion a year, which is less than 1% of the GDP
of Africa. No let me put that in perspective, it is 5% of the GDP of Nigeria since
it did that bullshit revising of the numbers..This is a pittance; it is nothing in
this day and age, and you are quite welcome to keep it. We did not ask for it,
we do not want it, and it is being invoked because the numbers show that Africa
has righted itself, with nearly no help from anyone in the West (except George
W Bush). When we were belly up, no one knew who were...

But more importantly, where is Black America getting
