The SKU for Best Buy is 9071056. The location I checked will have them in tonight or friday at the latest. I ordered from Google Play when it was available. I'll probably cop from best buy and return the Google one.
Looks good I will wait for generation 3 before I think about buying though

Just found out that the bullshit has to be powered by USB so basically you have to have it plugged up via wire to an Xbox or PC...bullshit as marketing team made sure to keep that out and make it look like a fucking memory stick....canceling order for the pure fuckery.

i think yall are confusing what usb powered means.
u dont have to plug it into usb to charge. it has an adapter, like a micro usb phone charger.
Placed mines a few hours ago and I have prime so it will get here quick when they re-stock, probably tomorrow. Not surprising but it'll be on Amazon today or tomorrow and at Best Buy on Sunday. I have Prime so I don't have to pay an extra $8 for 2-day shipping like on the Play Store
I only caught one review right after the live announcement. They did slip the "usb powered" shit into the presentation real quick and it did cross my mind but I shook it off in a split second and forgot about itMost reviews (at least the CNET one) made sure to point that out. It has to be powered via a USB charger.
For the most part the thing will be hidden behind the TV so no big deal![]()
What pissed me off was when they kept showing the shit it was all snug and wireless...that was one of the reasons I was sold for some shit my tv does anyway.
This is another reason I was sold on it...will be canceling my current Netflix subscription and activating their FREE 3 months right on time for my Prime payment to kick inu plug it into the wall like anything else...
i dont see how that is a dealbreaker.
if u have netflix, this shit is gonna end up costing u like $11. its not even worth discussing. just buy it.
if its dope, then google is finally about to hurt the whole cheap tv box game. if it sucke put it on craigslist and u will prolly have cats ready to pay u same day and u still keep ur netflix months...

Before I pulled the trigger on canceling my order I decided to do some research and found out my tv has Hdmi 1.4 ports that will power the chromecastActually, from what I'm reading around the web is that the power is required only if your TV doesn't support a higher HDMI spec. basically if it's a newer model then the HDMI port will provide sufficient power thus no need for the usb cable. Also, most newer TVs have a USB port near the HDMI ports (mines do).

You sure about that cause I was thinking that the promo was only for new subscribers to bring in new customers to Netflix. These companies don't really give away shit...its always about the money.
Purchase a Google Chromecast and receive a Netflix gift code redeemable towards 3 months of Netflix streaming service on a new or existing account. The gift code will be emailed to you a week after your Chromecast has shipped.
Follow the instructions below to redeem your code:
1) Go to netflix.com/chromecast.
2) Enter the Netflix code from your email and click 'Continue'.
3) If you are a new member, you will be asked to create a Netflix account. No billing information is required.
4) If you are an existing Netflix member, login into your Netflix account and your subscription will be credited for 3 months worth of streaming services.

Yeah I am just looking at it from a marketers perspective, I really don't see what Netflix gains by giving away 3 months unless they have a stake in this device. We will see...when do you think the restock will pop off? I have a feeling that the sell out was done on purpose to give off that "retro Jordan" buzz.Yep it's definitely for existing customers too, although I'm hearing they've been taking the promo message down entirely. Who knows if it'll come back when it's back in stock
Good for you.
It's only $35![]()
I feel what you saying but I wouldn't call this first gen tech besides the fact that it is pulling shit down from the cloud but 11 bucks ain't bad for some shit you can pack up and plug in anywhere.Yes good for me, you're in here promoting this shit like you are a google majority stock holder but I'm still not buying first gen tech
Yeah I can see Google's angle...shit they are fucking geniuses. This little $11 device opens up sales for Google Play Movies/TV, Google music etc. I swear before I got a smart tv I would be damned if I bought or rented streaming movies...now I have no problem purchasing a quick movie to stream at 1080p for me and the fam to check out without all that downloading or copping a few episodes of Yo Gabba Gabba to throw on for my daughter. Now Netflix, they are strictly subscription based and do not sell movies or tv shows to stream so the only way they can capitalize off this shit is to gain new subscribers...I am sure they will but if they restricted the 3 months to only new subscribers they would make a killing.its not really about the quick buck,
w/ google in this space, they want marketshare more than anything else.
the netflix deal + cheap pricing lets them steal customers from roku and other players.
the fact that they already released the api and pushing the developer angle means that some interesting shit should be coming down pretty soon.
i basically see this as the result of all their fuckups in the tv space. im sure they've learned alot over the last few yrs with googletv, the nexus q... fail enough times and u will eventually find a way to win...

Win -Win

Again, your prerogative.
I mean if $35 is too much for your pockets, we understand.
For me, it only costs $11 once they give the 3 free months of NetFlix. Not a bad deal at all.
$11 is a lunch meal, so no biggie at all even if it fails as a first gen tech.
Not a big deal
Thank you. This specific kind of tech is widely available, and even as a "first gen tech" how much can they really fuck up on a HDMI dongle.![]()
I could see if this was another high-priced experiment (Nexus Q) but for $11 who caresI could see if this was another high-priced experiment (Nexus Q) but for $11 who cares
As long as it works as advertised and developers run with it, you're gonna see this built into TVs and media boxes probably at CES 2014.
