The Zimmerman Trial: Justice for Trayvon! (Let's discuss it)

Due to social media, I feel has though the end-result of this case sends a bigger message than the one for Emmett Till to the whole world.

That message illustrates just how racist and evil this county has always been and continues to be towards Black people (particularly Black males).

i would NOT feel sorry if some1 killed that bitch or even his bitch ass dad. but hopefully people realize this is more than JUST race, this SYG shit has BEEN letting people get away with murder. when u can hunt down & kill anyone and claim ur standn your ground (and im not even talknbout the GZ case) then u have a seriously flawed law.

"Only in America can a dead black boy go on trial for his own murder."

Fellas the universe takes care of all, it might not happen when and how you want it to but nobody can do bad with out it coming full circle.

the lack of manslaughter is sad as shit man...he was dead to rights on that shit....

but I knew it......

Only question I have to ask is, "when the 911 operator told you to chill, what made you continued"

If thats the way it went down....

back when this started, I asked, "who's gon start shit when he's found not guilty," & niccas laughed.

ain't shit funny right now... and I know some of y'all feel violence should be on the table.

the prosecution team was a fucking joke.

Did you read the instructions around the manslaughter charge?

Shit was rigged from the very beginning

"May we please have clarification on the instructions regarding manslaughter," said the note, which Judge Debra Nelson read aloud to a lawyers, reporters and members of the families of Martin and Zimmerman who were gathered in the courtroom.

As jurors awaited an answer, Nelson talked to lawyers at the bench and after a half-hour recess, they agreed to send a note back asking the jurors to elaborate.

"The court can't engage in general discussion but may be able to address a specific question regarding clarification of the instructions regarding manslaughter," the note said. "If you have a specific question, please submit it."

Jurors didn't send back a response to the note.

*They said fuck it and fuck this case*

To convict Zimmermann of manslaughter, jurors must believe Zimmerman intentionally committed an act that caused Martin's death, according to the judge's instructions.
He can't be guilty of manslaughter merely by committing a negligent act or if the killing was excusable, the instructions say.

WTF is going on in Florida? :smh:

Fla. mom gets 20 years for firing warning shots
Marissa Alexander of Jacksonville, Fla., received a 20-years prison sentence, Friday, May 11, 2012, for firing warning shots against her allegedly abusive husband. The judge rejected a defense under Florida's "Stand Your Ground" law. / WETV

Marissa Alexander of Jacksonville had said the state's "Stand Your Ground" law should apply to her because she was defending herself against her allegedly abusive husband when she fired warning shots inside her home in August 2010. She told police it was to escape a brutal beating by her husband, against whom she had already taken out a protective order.

CBS Affiliate WETV reports that Circuit Court Judge James Daniel handed down the sentence Friday.

Under Florida's mandatory minimum sentencing requirements Alexander could receive a lesser sentence, even though she has never been in trouble with the law before. Judge Daniel said the law did not allow for extenuating or mitigating circumstances to reduce the sentence below the 20-year minimum.

"I really was crying in there," Marissa's 11-year-old daughter told WETV. "I didn't want to cry in court, but I just really feel hurt. I don't think this should have been happening."

Alexander was convicted of attempted murder after she rejected a plea deal for a three-year prison sentence. She said she did not believe she did anything wrong.

She was recently denied a new trial after appealing to the judge to reconsider her case based on Florida's controversial "Stand Your Ground" law. The law states that the victim of a crime does not have to attempt to run for safety and can immediately retaliate in self-defense.

Alexander's attorney said she was clearly defending herself and should not have to spend the next two decades behind bars.

Alexander's case has drawn support from domestic abuse advocates - and comparison to the case of neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman, who has claimed a "Stand Your Ground" defense in his fatal shooting of Florida teenager Trayvon Martin.

If Trayvon Martin had been born white he would be alive today. That has been established beyond all reasonable doubt. If he had been white, he never would have been stalked by Zimmerman, there would have been no fight, no funeral, no trial, no verdict. It is the Zimmerman mindset that must be found guilty - far more than the man himself. It is a mindset that views black men and boys as nothing but a threat, good for nothing, up to no good no matter who they are or what they are doing. It is the Zimmerman mindset that has birthed a penal system unprecedented in world history, and relegated millions to a permanent undercaste. Trayvon, you will not be forgotten. We will honor you - and the millions your memory represents - by building a movement that makes America what it must become. RIP

Real shit.. please stop with the fake outrage, and turn this into a movement

This case didn't become national news because a fat spanish dude killed a black kid. It became national news because after he killed him, he was questioned and sent home with no charges, and the local DA had no intention of filing charges. People got angry about this, rightly, and made lots of noise, and it worked to make it a national story. If Zimmerman was at least charged that night, or soon after the murder, the story wouldn't have caught the interest of everyone like it did.

We all care about black babies and young people dying left and right, but neither you, I or anyone else here can even name 99.9% of those murder victims. Not because we don't care, but because in general, most murder cases remain local.

our black babies are dying by the fucking truck load every night and not a single tear or fuck is given except by the families. Now this case has niggas all up in arms cause a fat Spanish dude killed one of ours and got away with it

I just don't see how anyone could have trouble understanding this. It's kind of baffling.
