Dallas Mavericks Reportedly Pursuing Polarizing Center

he Dallas Mavericks have shifted their efforts toward landing another All-Star center in Andrew Bynum after missing out on the Dwight Howard sweepstakes.

According to Tim MacMahon and Marc Stein of ESPN, Dallas has its eye on the polarizing Philadelphia 76ers big man as it looks to recover from failing in its efforts to land Howard.

Yeah they saying if we run him and Calderon that's two guys that can run the pick and roll and what one doesn't do well offensively the other doesn so they can play off each other

Hawks Seriously Bidding For Monta Ellis

The Atlanta Hawks are pursuing Monta Ellis in free agency.

The Hawks have approximately $10 million in cap space to sign Ellis and he is believed to be their top target.

The future of Jeff Teague is uncertain, while they have also considered signing Andrew Bynum.

The Hawks also pursued Ellis via trade in February.

Although Omer Asik has formally requested a trade, the Houston Rockets have no plans to grant his wish, according to sources.

Shortly after Dwight Howard committed to signing with the Rockets, Asik requested a trade from Houston.

The Rockets have turned down offers and plan to continue doing so.

"With Omer, he had a great year for us last year and really became one of the top centers in the league," Kevin McHale said. "It's just when you have an opportunity to get Dwight, it's hard not to. I'm sure Omer right now is a little down in the dumps, but we'll pick him up."

Hickson had been with the Portland Trail Blazers since being waived by the Sacramento Kings in March of 2012.

The Cleveland Cavaliers selected Hickson with the 19th overall pick in 2008 after one season with N.C. State.

The Milwaukee Bucks have agreed to terms on a contract with free-agent forward Carlos Delfino, according to sources close to the process.

The Houston Rockets were forced to waived Delfino on June 30 to ensure they had sufficient salary-cap space to sign Dwight Howard.

The Bucks swooped in to strike a deal with the rugged Argentinean swingman worth a guaranteed $6.5 million in the first two seasons -- $3.25 million per year -- and containing a team option in Year 3 that potentially increases the value of the contract to more than $9 million.

When the deal is finalized Wednesday, Delfino will join guard O.J Mayo and center Zaza Pachulia as the Bucks' new arrivals via free agency.

ESPN's Chris Broussard contributed to this report.
