~*~2013 NBA Season Thread - Playoff Are Here ~*~

Re: ~**~2013 NBA Offseason Thread - Free Agency begin July 1~**~

Marco Belinelli has agreed to terms with the Spurs on a two-year, $6 million contract.
He won't be starting and his minutes are likely going to be inconsistent with the Spurs. Belinelli will basically serve as an insurance policy for Manu Ginobili and he's expected to resume a similar role that Gary Neal played last season. Marc Stein of ESPN added that Belinelli turned down a more lucrative deal, but he wanted to join the Spurs. Bello won't be worth drafting in fantasy leagues.

They will wait for the scraps to fall through the cracks and sign them to minimum deals

Same way they got him and Nate basically

Re: ~**~2013 NBA Offseason Thread - Free Agency begin July 1~**~

Can we PLEASE SIGN COPE... :please:

Yeah Knicks need to sign Cope and then worry about K Mart Brad and another guard (Brooks??)etc. I'm glad they have "Priggy Smalls" He is a pass first play maker guard. He's good with the pick n roll (especially with Copeland). he can shoot and plays good defense. Pablo and Shump on the floor at the same time cause problems. I'm actually glad the Knicks have most of the same players instead of blowing up he team. Knicks just got rid of some players that wasn't producing.

Re: ~**~2013 NBA Offseason Thread - Free Agency begin July 1~**~

The Kings have verbally agreed to trade Tyreke Evans to the New Orleans Pelicans in a three-team trade.
The Kings will get Greivis Vasquez and Portland will absorb the contract of Robin Lopez. This deal will become official on July 10. The Kings haven't been very impressive this offseason considering they were able to keep their team in Sacramento and they're likely in the midst of a full-blown rebuild. As for Evans, he'll get most of his minutes at small forward with Eric Gordon handling shooting guard. If the Pelicans can stay healthy, they might be able to sneak into the playoffs out west. Evans will be a nice pick in fantasy leagues during the early-middle rounds.

Re: ~**~2013 NBA Offseason Thread - Free Agency begin July 1~**~

Greivis Vasquez will be headed to Sacramento as part of a three-team trade.
There was really no way Vasquez was going to stick around in New Orleans. The Pelicans traded for Jrue Holiday and they saw Brian Roberts turn some heads last season, as well. Vasquez has played plenty of shooting guard, but with the Kings drafting Ben McLemore, GV will likely be in a timeshare at point guard with Isaiah Thomas. He was a great value pick in drafts last season and led the NBA in total assists, but that won't be happening this year.

The knicks are doing stupid shit........Melo is opting out and signing with the rockets or lakers in 2014.

greivis vasquez isn't a bad shooter from behind the arc, but his ball handling is atrocious.

giving the euro more than spot fill in minutes at PG would be a tremendous mistake.

I haven't followed him that much...just know he's a 2 that can score...I think sacramento tried to experiment w/ him running the offense more like a pg...I can't tell you much tho

What's stupid???:dunno:

They get rid of rid Camby(who gave us NOTHING and Novak) for a guy who we can move... AND who is actually better than Novak.

We re-sign JR( a guy we couldn't replace this year) and Priggy...

Understand... These little moves we made actually put us in a good position to make BIGGER moves later on...

.. And even if Melo decides to move on... We will at least be in position to do something...

This isn't the Scott Layden's or Zeke's Knicks... even though... ZEKE IS DOWN WITH THE HOOSIER 3...

If we can grab Brand and keep Cope... I would say that this off season was success...

Agreed there is no reason to "Blow up" a team like the Knicks have done in the past season. The majority of this team won 50 plus games, won the Atlantic Division got out of the first round (in over a decade) and lost to the best defensive team that took the Heat to 7 games. NOBODY expected the Knicks to do what they did last season. Knicks might have financial troubles but sometimes it is good to keep a team familial and with good chemistry add a few improvements (Brad, Brooks/Telfair) that they can build on.

People like to shit on Glen Grunwald... but... to be honest... He's done a VERY good job with the Knicks...

Last year, people were killing him for his "No Country for Old Men" squad... but... what happened... 50+wins... Atlantic Division title... and MOST IMPORTANTLY... WE FINALLY GOT OUT OF THE FIRST ROUND... :wepraise:

I've got to give the man credit... IMO... He's done a VERY good job...

I agree, also this the only team that really scared me as a Heat bandwagoner...

really

I remember saying that chuck happy offense based on 3's was going to bite them in the ass.

Now look there is nothing wrong with using the long ball....but there were games where I watched NYK launching 3's indescriminately. Come downcourt and 4 seconds in the shotclock they launching from way outside the arc.

Frank Vogel made it a point to note that if you took time to really focus on taking away their three point looks they were mediocre.

Shoot have you ever watched the bulls play them. Chased their shooters off the line every game.

... And what else could we have done???

Feature Tyson in the post... :hmm:

Everybody says we shot 3s indiscriminately... but... with the roster we had... AT THE END... What else was we supposed to do???

After all the injuries... We had ONE guy who could deal in the post... MELO...

... and even he was banged up...

Bottomline... We ran out of gas... AND we got jerked... 18<46

Yes...man they had me spooked

1. Our defensive philosophy...protecting the paint then rotate to the shooters
2. We're the Heat - team decided to have their best fucking game against us
3. The Knick vs Heat rivalry - just added fuel to their squad
4. Our coach - he's known to do some questionable things at times, even tho he's likely to go down as a great coach.

I agree the Knicks did shoot to many 3s but they have many players: Melo JR Pablo Copeland Felton Shump and Novack(if NO ONE IS AROUND)That can shoot the 3. since STAT and Sheed were not helathy, their bigs Chandler and Martin were basic defensive bigs that can score from pick n rolls lobs and put backs. if STAT can stay healthy (40 - 50 game plus playoffs am I asking to much??) he Barnani and (possibly) Brand can finally give the Knicks and "in and out game." Since STAT can't stay healthy, the Knicks to rely on: "Iso Melo and JR," Pick n Rolls and 3 point shooters. you have STAT and Brad posting the defense will have to respect that and double them freeing up Melo JR and their shooters. Woodson need to learn from this last playoffs to creat a better offensive strategy this season some even suggested he hire an offensive coach we'll see.

Iso - Manu, Parker
Post - Duncan
3's - Green, Neal
Pick n Roll - Parker, Manu

I think Woody needs to pray that COPE comes back and start playing him more...

The way the season played out... We had to do to what we had to do...

LIke you said... You can't play inside/out if you don't have... the INSIDE part... :smh:

I hope Tyson got his ass to Houston this summer... because HE NEEDS IT...

Curryshotta isn't wrong in his assessment though...

I hope we do more than shoot 3s...

I hear ya but Tyson learning from the Dram is like "feast to feminine" STAT learned and did well because he has the mechanics. Tyson needs something basic like learning the Sky Hook from Kareem. Now I know the "current players" don't like the sky hook but it's an unstoppable move which will take less mechanics to learn then Dreams repertoire. Big man sleep on that move but if you get it going it can't be stopped unless you double team leaving someone open from Melo JR or shooters.

Warriors Trying To Trade Bogut, Jefferson, Biedrins To Create Room For Howard
Jul 04, 2013 8:49 PM EDT

The Golden State Warriors believe they have a legitimate shot to sign Dwight Howard in free agency and have aggressively tried to trade away big contract players such as Andrew Bogut, Richard Jefferson and Andris Biedrins, according to sources.

The Warriors were able to get Howard's attention while meeting the Los Angeles Lakers free agent this week.

Golden State is searching for teams with salary camp room to dump players.

Howard is expected to make his free agency decision by Friday.
