~*~2013 NBA Season Thread - Playoff Are Here ~*~

Re: ~**~2013 NBA Offseason Thread - Free Agency begin July 1~**~

Keeping it 100...the Clips REALLY need to move. They'll keep getting shitted on in their own building until they do.

Seattle, San Diego(original home), or St. Loius needs to make a strong offer. I know Donald ain't going for that though.

I'm glad JR's fourth year will be optional. He was the Knicks first priority and Doland Woodson and Melo wanted him a Knick. Now if they can keep Copeland. Lakers and Pacers made offers to Cope hope he stays.

I've always been surprised St. Louis didn't try..but Seattle has everything in place. They should make an offer.

They should keep K-Mart as well.

Heat should sign Nate Rob he fits right in with their style of play lol

I don't know they have to try and keep Copeland next teams keep making him offers. So far no team has showed any interest in K Mart which surprises me but if the Knicks go for Brand he can score and rebound better than K Mart so that might make things difficult for them to keep K Mart

Heat should sign Nate Rob he fits right in with their style of play lol

That would be a great pickup, but have any role player ever had that green light regularly under Spo...
Nate is the perfect spark plug for me, but this year he showed growth as a constant player.
The question do you sit Cole for Nate?

I thought Mike Miller should've had more freedom, he can shoot off the dribble, handle the rock well enough and dunk when feeling good...

the first year Mike Bibby, was brought in to catch and shoot...why no pick and rolls with him an a big, where he got shot that pull up...

Darren Collison Sorting Through Interest, Isn't Closing Possible Mavericks Return
Jul 03, 2013 10:50 PM EDT

Free agent point guard Darren Collison is intrigued by four teams as a possible landing spot and hasn’t yet ruled out a return to the Dallas Mavericks, a league source told RealGM.

Like so many across NBA free agency, Collison’s future has been placed on hold by the decision Dwight Howard will make about the team he’ll sign with. As an unrestricted free agent, Collison knows the importance of utilizing his options and “really wants to get his choice right,” a source said. The Mavericks didn’t extend Collison a qualifying offer.

Despite a fast start to the season, Collison seemed to fall out of favor within the Mavericks’ rotation. Still, the 25-year-old averaged 12 points, 5.1 assists and a career-high 47.1 percent shooting in 81 games.

Hakeem Olajuwon Offers Optimistic Prediction On Dwight Howard Picking Houston: '85 Percent'
Wednesday, July 3, 2013 11:30 pmWritten by: ThePostGame Staff

Hakeem Olajuwon is hardly the unbiased observer when it comes to the Dwight Howard sweepstakes as he was part of the Rockets' delegation to woo the free agent big man. But if you're a Rockets fan, you have to like the vibe Olajuwon got from their sit-down.

"It's an 85 percent chance he ends up in Houston," Olajuwon told ThePostGame on Wednesday. "You never know, but after that meeting we had, I feel very comfortable that we have the best chance to get him."

Olajuwon, who went to the NBA Finals three times and won two titles with the Rockets, and Clyde Drexler were among those who attended Houston's presentation to Howard on Monday in Los Angeles. While they mentioned some off-the-court perks such as how the cost of living and state taxes are more favorable in Texas than California, the central issue was basketball.

Olajuwon said he got the sense Howard liked what the Rockets were selling.

"We're going to come to you," Olajuwon said. "You have James Harden there. You have the backcourt. You're going to get the ball. The coach is there knowing we need your presence in the middle. So we were speaking his language. It's what he wanted. So he was so excited."

The Rockets might be considered the frontrunner for Howard, who has also met with Dallas, Atlanta, Golden State and the Lakers, but that means nothing if he ultimately opts to sign elsewhere.

"If you truly want to win a championship, this is the right team," Olajuwon said. "And I think he feels the sincerity that this is a true opportunity to make something special."

Regardless of team, Howard will have to cope with the considerable scrutiny that comes with being a franchise center.

"He needs to be comfortable," Olajuwon said. "There's a lot of expectations because his position is the primary position for any team. It's the foundation of any team. So he needs to accept that responsibility. When you play with a team that looks for you to establish yourself, before they can establish a team, that makes him more comfortable, knowing his role is so valuable."

Here is the video of his thoughts on Howard:

Clips should have never let Kenyon Martin leave the first time

You let him and Reggie Evans go and bring in tissue soft Lamar Odom and Ryan Hollins plus a complete scrub in Turiaf and the end result is Z Bo making your entire front court his bitches and a first round exit

Collison wasn't that bad last year

I mean he is far from elite but is a decent starter at a low price

Carlisle just wouldn't commit to him

To get benched in favor of two niggas damn near 40 coming off the couch is embarrassing though

No way I would come back here if I were him

I think we gave up on Collison too soon

Do I think he will ever be more than a servicable player? :smh:

No, but you don't bring in Fisher and Mike James to start

Let the season play out

Dude didn't put up bad numbers at all

I hated the way he was handled

Pablo Prigioni Reaches Three-Year, $6M Contract With Knicks
Jul 04, 2013 1:06 PM EDT

Free agent guard Pablo Prigioni has reached agreement on a three-year, $6 million contract to re-sign with the New York Knicks, league sources told RealGM.

Prigioni’s new deal with the Knicks allows him to earn $2 million per season and includes a team option in the third season, partially guaranteed, a source said.

With Jason Kidd retired and now coaching the Brooklyn Nets, the Knicks moved swiftly to bring back Prigioni. After the season ended in the Eastern Conference semifinals, Prigioni went back to his native Argentina to contemplate his future, but the 36-year-old returned before the NBA draft and notified the Knicks that he planned to continue playing in the NBA.

Prigioni has given Mike Woodson an experienced, sharp point guard, and the Knicks understood his importance early in free agency. Prigioni averaged 3.5 points and three assists in 78 games a season ago. The Knicks also re-signed J.R. Smith on Thursday.

The knicks are insane doing the same shit and expecting a different outcome....imo

Re: ~**~2013 NBA Offseason Thread - Free Agency begin July 1~**~

care to explain

I just think he is a better player

I mean people will tell me Jefferson is a better scorer but Howard has a higher career ppg than him and has several 20+ and 10+ seasons over him and is a year younger

And thats the only advantage you could even say is that Jefferson has better post moves or whatever, Dwight is better than him at everything else other than free throws and I'm not giving somebody an edge based on free throws

The knicks are insane doing the same shit and expecting a different outcome....imo

Signing the old Argentinian actually is a good pick..for his age he stays picking up other point guards full court he's pesty and can actually he the three when he decides to shoot..not a bad pick up at all

Copeland Weighing Offers From Lakers, Pacers, Unknown Team
Jul 04, 2013 11:27 AM EDT

Chris Copeland is evaluating offer sheets from the Los Angeles Lakers, Indiana Pacers and an unknown team, possibly Cleveland.

Mike D’Antoni was the first to call Copeland’s agent, John Spencer, when free agency began.

The Pacers are looking to sign Copeland with a portion of their mid-level exception of $5 million.

The Knicks have got to get him back in the fold...
