~*~2013 NBA Season Thread - Playoff Are Here ~*~

Re: ~**~2013 NBA Offseason Thread - Free Agency begin July 1~**~

It wasnt a no trade clause HArden was after. It was a trade kicker. There is a difference

During extension talks with the Oklahoma City Thunder, James Harden and his agent sought a 15 percent trade kicker.

Harden was entertaining taking less than a max contract, but wanted a financial incentive should the Thunder trade him.

The Thunder were offering Harden a four-year contract in the neighborhood of $53 million.

With the Houston Rockets, Harden will be able to sign a five-year contract.

So Presti wanted a young man to give up money and then still be able to use him as trade fodder if need be.

I like KD and Russ and hope they eventually win chips but I hope OKC suffers a while till they learn their lesson

The kings told iggy now and never and the motherfucker didn't believe them :smh:

I can't see anyone else offering that money either cause it was crazy when the kings did it....

anytime a team makes an offer and doesnt want to give you sufficient time to consider that is a major red flag

Re: ~**~2013 NBA Offseason Thread - Free Agency begin July 1~**~

I Think OKC did the best letting Martin walk they are thinking long term, not short term.
OKC truly traded Harden for Lamb not Martin.
OKC needed Martin's salary for the sign and trade and it was an expiring contract.
Martin has already hit his ceiling he's a 30 yr old spot up shooter/scorer with no defense.
Lamb will actually be an upgrade from Martin defensively and offensively.

C'mon bruh, did D. Will take less years/money? Did CP3 take less years/money?? These niggas aint giving that shit up bro. They made the offer numerous times & he rejected. There wasn't anything to mull over.
All parties involved including Harden himself say he was willing to take lesser money if certain requests were met. And keep in mind that Westbrook, and Ibaka both took less than max to stay and Harden was on board to do the exact same until Presti screwed it up.

maybe not--grand opening, grand closing

this new kings ownership, :smh::smh::smh:

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
Smartest move the Kings never made. Giving an already overpaid Iggy another 60millin was beyond foolish and a recipe for a struggling franchise. They need to better use that cap.

Re: ~**~2013 NBA Offseason Thread - Free Agency begin July 1~**~

Kings dodged a bullet on giving Iggy 56 million

He ain't worth that

ha....I am going to keep note of all this Lamb optimism

:smh:

And I aint even trying to shit on the young man cuz hey he might end up being a good player but OKC is in win now mode

I just don't believe he was leaving that money on the table.

But Houston can offer a five-year, $78 million contract extension. That’s a max deal one year larger than Oklahoma City could offer (teams are only allowed one five-year max in the new CBA and OKC wisely gave its to Russell Westbrook). Harden is expected to sign it, maybe before the day is out.

Harden gets one more guaranteed year and $25 million more guaranteed dollars. At age 23. If you’re slamming him for this, you’re saying you would have turned down that money at his age? Sure you would have. There are no guarantees in life or the NBA, so if someone offers you $25 million more guaranteed you jump on it.

Catch him after this next contract

Re: ~**~2013 NBA Offseason Thread - Free Agency begin July 1~**~

@unknown

The thing is Harden had no way of knowing that OKC would trade him to Houston. Houston was able to offer him that contract because under the new CBA you can only offer one player coming off their rookie contract a 5 yr deal. The reason the Thunder were able to sign both Durant and westbrook was because Durant signed his extension before the lockout and Westbrook after the lockout when the new rule took effect.

Westbrook also qualified for the Derrick Rose rule and could have signed any where from 80- 94 million but settle for 75 million.

If Harden was traded to lets say the Clippers he could only sign a 4 yr deal because they used their 5 yr deal on Blake.

As Curry said Harden wanted a trade kicker. Brook Lopez had one put in his contract when he resign with the Nets. You do this when you know a GM is quick to make moves and this ensures u if your traded your dollars will go up

I like Sam Presiti moves and I will admit this is looking bad. I'm not ready to anoint Lamb but he has to do something. The Thunder can't come out of this with nothing.

Lets say Houston gets Dwight. Harden's new team is now in a better position than OKC. IN ONE YEAR

Also Warriors will have cap space next summer.

as for Kyle Krover tough news. Don't hate it. Guy should get his money being the best shooter on the market. I'm disappointed but happy for him

Iggy wow. Why didn't he sign the offer sheet? This has to be a blow to his ego. I haven't seen this happen in a while. It's like they slept on it and said fuck it.

Also Pistons are making a run at Rudy Gay. Raptors new GM wants to suck ass for the 2014 draft. He doesn't look at Rudy as his player and feels he will just opt out next summer and bolt out any way.

But what could the Clippers have given that would've made that trade? They were negotiating with PHX & HOU seriously...everyone else who were calling could offer that last year. Something his agent was well aware of.

How is this looking bad? The Thunder was the #1 seed in the West this season, was well on their way to mopping Houston until Westbrook went down with his knee. Who knows how far they advance 100% healthy...while I'm not annointing Lamb, its time to show & prove. He was a better shooting Sefo coming outta UConn...time to show what he can do. If he fails, then we can say the trade was bad. As of now, that Perk deal is the still the worst move he's made.

Unless lamb is a 15ppg player with above average defense this is a downgrade

Martin was never known for his defense. Give Lamb a chance and I think he will do a good job.

Re: ~**~2013 NBA Offseason Thread - Free Agency begin July 1~**~

Pistons worse than a pregnant bitch in the club

You are right!! :smh: Joe Dumars is still eating off the 2004/2005 finals teams. otherwise he sucks. Missed out on Bosh, Wade and Anthony. Darko is out of the league now. Always take the best players available and sort out the logjam later. Rented Larry Brown for two years when he had a good coach Carlisle in place.
Then he signed Villanueva and Gordon to bullshit deals . Wasted money. Now he is doing the same shit, willing to overpay for second tier borderline stars.
Owners must really love Dumars because of his playing days. This dude has been lucky.

Re: ~**~2013 NBA Offseason Thread - Free Agency begin July 1~**~

If Houston gets the Dwight Howard, they really should go after a stretch 4 and keep the rest of their players. I think Asik needs to still be there since I still don't trust Howard durability yet and he can keep Howard's minutes more down.

If they get Howard Asik is gone

He is a starter in this league

Trade him to New Orleans for Ryan Anderson problem solved

Re: ~**~2013 NBA Offseason Thread - Free Agency begin July 1~**~

And THIS SHIT RIGHT HERE has always been his problem. He thinks he's more than what he is. He wants to be a shooting guard like Kobe but he's not that. I've seen him take some of the worst shots in the history of basketball live!!! :smh: Trust me you don't want him to shoot more. You wan't him to go to the basket more because he has a great ability to get to the rim. Yet he won't consistently play to his strengths.

Yeah I meant be aggressive more. Iggy tries to be Lebron James imo. He tries to do it all but he tries to hard. I want him looking to score instead he drives to the lane and passes the ball off like a point guard.:smh:

Lakers Can Sell Dwight On 2014 Cap Space For LeBron, Carmelo
Jul 03, 2013 2:05 AM EDT

The Los Angeles Lakers made their free agency pitch to Dwight Howard on Tuesday, the last of five teams.

While the other teams, most notably the Houston Rockets, offered Howard the chance to instantly contend, the Lakers can offer the appeal of cap space in 2014.

The only contract on the Lakers' books for the 2014 offseason is Steve Nash at $9.7 million. The 2014 free agency class could include LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony and Kobe Bryant.

"Finally, Howard stands at the center of the most terrifying maelstrom that has come along in the NBA in decades," writes Ken Berger. "What is that, you ask? It's called the Lakers with cap space.

"That means that Howard, who has traveled from Orlando to LA and now to a free-agent courtship with four other teams, is 12 months away from being the centerpiece of an unprecedented constellation of star power. If you thought the Lakers' courtship of Howard was something -- with the banners and the hashtags and whatnot -- wait until they knock on LeBron James'*door on July 1, 2014.

"Dwight, LeBron and Carmelo Anthony*on the Lakers, with Bryant saying this week he has three good years left in him? It would make the Heat's Big Three look like a bad pickup game at the Y."*

The Lakers would not have enough cap space to sign both James and Anthony to maximum contracts given the presence of Howard's new deal and Nash's final season. But James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh each took less money to play together with the Miami Heat in 2010.

Raptors Receive Offer Of Stuckey, Villanueva From Pistons For Rudy Gay
Jul 02, 2013 11:57 PM EDT

The Detroit Pistons have offered the expiring contracts of Rodney Stuckey and Charlie Villanueva to the Toronto Raptors in exchange for Rudy Gay.

The Raptors acquired Gay in a January trade made by Bryan Colangelo.

Trading Gay would clear salary cap space for the Raptors for the 2014 offseason.

Masai Ujiri has already begun clearing holdovers by trading Andrea Bargnani to the New York Knicks.

Update: Marc Stein reports on Wednesday that the Pistons' offer has been met by resistance from the Raptors.

Re: ~**~2013 NBA Offseason Thread - Free Agency begin July 1~**~

Lakers with cap space is indeed a scary thing

Mavs don't get it done this summer they damn sure ain't getting it done summer 2014

They could have gotten a max player and instead they doubled down on Manu and Splitter, their two worst players of the finals.:lol:

A MAX player bro :smh:

Spurs were the team with cap space nobody was even talking about cuz everyone pretty much knew they wouldn't go after a big fish not their style really but to give more money to the guys who just cost you a championship? :smh::lol:

I love it!

Fuck pop!

They both would have to take pay cuts, to make it work

If LeBron wants more and Melo still has none and they are both friends and respect Kobe dam this might happen I can see them taking a cut to win.
