~~Miami Heat vs San Antonio - 2013 NBA Finals - The Miami Heat wins!

Re: ~~Miami Heat vs San Antonio - 2013 NBA Finals - (Spurs 1 - 0) ~~

Time to shut and play....

Shut up and play. They used to have T-shirts in sports that said as much. They need to hand out some to the Heat as they make this final push to the mountaintop.

And let's start with two of the biggest three players on the team.

If that's harsh, the stakes, the NBA Finals, demand it. Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh have continued their running theme of self-sacrifice in delivering the team to LeBron James and having to adjust their games accordingly.

"Not everyone could do what I did," Wade said.

"I've had to change my game completely," Bosh said.

Everyone respects and appreciates Wade and Bosh, for who they are, for what they've done.

And, yes, everyone has seen how this union can be difficult, as all matches of stars can be. Look at the Beatles. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. Boston's Big Three.

And their thoughts keep showing it.

"We've got to get everyone involved," Wade said.

"I never thought I'd be shooting 3-pointers," Bosh said.

The hours leading into Game 2 of the NBA Finals aren't the time to wear this like an amulet to ward off the evil spirits of unsavory thoughts and unwanted media questions. They're the time to show everyone why they sacrificed, to make another push to a title.

Take Wade. The hard truth is the bar has been so lowered that when he scored 21 points in Game 7 against Indiana there was a re-coronation of him, and his 17 points in Game 1 against San Antonio suggested he'd done his part.

Yes, his knee hurts. No doubt. It hurts in a manner that affects his game and his mind. But on Saturday LeBron said he can tell when Wade is, "most in tune with the game — I can see it on his face."

He added: "I don't know if it's maybe his knee or maybe frustrated at times or maybe he's just not in the rhythm. But I can see it on his face when he's there. That's what I told him, even if sometimes you're not in the rhythm, I need to see your face that you're in tune and you're ready for the next possession and ready to move on from whatever is going on."

This isn't the time of year to check out for stretches. And, if he's honest, Wade must be frustrated with himself for not adjusting his game to age as much as LeBron's appearance. He hasn't improved his shooting, for instance.

That's shown by his 25.8 percent shooting on 3-pointers during the regular season. That's the lowest for him in seven years, back when he was a rising, young star with springs in his legs.

So at a time he should have prepared for ways to adjust to a weakening body, experienced mind and opponents not fearing his rim-seeking missile of a game, he doesn't have the outside shot.

Others do. LeBron, for instance, worked on his outside shot, especially taking advantage of Ray Allen being on the team this year. The result was LeBron's career-high 40.6 percent this year on 3-point shots.

Wade? He needs to maximize what he has. Smarts. Experience. And still enough athleticism to milk to win games.

Then there's Chris Bosh. He is the most interesting of the Big Three, a thinker, a reader, a man who "appreciates balance in my life," as he said in talking to the media Friday. "For example, right now I'm with a lot of people. Later, I'll take time to be alone."

Who doesn't appreciate someone with good thoughts? Who doesn't respect how he stayed above some of the cheap shots he's taken, right from the start of this era, about how he didn't fit and wasn't talented.

But sometimes he can think too much. Like now. Today isn't the time for philosophy. It's a time of action, and for the Heat that means Bosh needs to start remembering who he is.

This isn't a slap at the missed 3-point shot that drew such focus at the end of Game 1. He was wide open. He entered that game as the third-best 3-point shooter on the team in the playoffs at 48.5 percent. So quit playing the result.

The problem is Bosh has turned himself into only a jump shooter of late.

Oh, there was Game 7 against Indiana when he drove the ball hard to the basket. He had trouble finishing. But the point is that bore fruit as Indiana's mountain, Roy Hibbert, eventually got into foul trouble.

Balance, right? Isn't that what Bosh embraces. Inside. Outside. That's his game. And rebounding. There's some truth to the fact he's outside on offense and can't get as many offensive rebounds.

The full truth is there are defensive rebounds, too. LeBron had 18 rebounds in Game 1. Bosh had five. Do you think that contributed to LeBron tiring in the fourth quarter to the point he asked out?

Bosh has double-figure rebounds in just two of 17 playoff games. He has five or less in 10 of them. He needs more. They all need to do more and think of their situation less.

There's no reason to get carried away with one loss. But two? To San Antonio?

This, again, is why the Heat were formed. It's why they've sacrificed. Time to shut up and play.

Re: ~~Miami Heat vs San Antonio - 2013 NBA Finals - (Spurs 1 - 0) ~~

joey crawford, ken mauer, and ed malloy will be calling game 2

Joey ref'ing? Heat might lose and Bron will foul out

All of brons foul outs came at the hands of Joey....

Then again Joey don't like Duncan so I can see Heat winning tonight by 10 plus

Re: ~~Miami Heat vs San Antonio - 2013 NBA Finals - (Spurs 1 - 0) ~~

"I've had to change my game completely," Bosh said.
Bosh truly has had to sacrifice the most in turns on reinventing himself and becoming a different player.

"Not everyone could do what I did," Wade said.
Wade needs to stfu and play ball. Bron saved this niggas career. All he had left in him was two more seasons of 43win teams and first round playoff outs. After that he would have been struggling on sub .500 lottery teams.

Re: ~~Miami Heat vs San Antonio - 2013 NBA Finals - (Spurs 1 - 0) ~~

Make no sense why Crawford is still a ref.

That must be stern's lover or something. Dude is so blatant in his fuckery that it is far from assuming if you're on either side of his whistle. Somebody need to fuck dude up for real.

Re: ~~Miami Heat vs San Antonio - 2013 NBA Finals - (Spurs 1 - 0) ~~

How is this guy still employed? Obvious bias, threatening players, sideshow antics and choreography while officiating?!?!

White skin......

Same reason why birdman was allowed to get away with murder in the chicago series....

Finally got suspended a series later.....

Same reason why whites are less likely to be arrested for drug charges

Like this...

It's a shame they are just going to roll over tonight, and lay down and the Heat will run over them like they aren't even on the court, and do whatever they want and win by 20 plus, unless the Refs are against LeBron, and call a lot of fouls on him, and mess up the flow of the game, if not, it's going to be like the Heat are playing by themselves, doing whatever they want to do no matter what. Not like the Spurs have anything to play for, being as there is nothing they can do, no matter how hard they try, to stop from being completely dominated in every statistical category tonight. They better enjoy their last 4 games of the season, because that's the most they can hope for, since they are so helplessly overmatched. Game 1 was a fluke... A damn shame actually...
:hmm:

Re: ~~Miami Heat vs San Antonio - 2013 NBA Finals - (Spurs 1 - 0) ~~

I got the Heat winning by 15+....

LBJ goes and has a Great game... Wade, Bosh or Allen will have a Great game as Well.

i hate both these teams, but there's even LESS to watch on tv until football season if this series ends REALLY fast.

there's a TON OF PRESSURE on miami to win tonight. they HAVE to, or this series is over for sure bc there's NO WAY they can win more than one in san antonio.

and don't forget... one basic thing: san antonio is NOT indiana who did NOT have a point guard and turned the ball over 15+ times a game.

just in the last game, indiana had 8 turnovers in the first motherfucking quarter. :smh::smh::smh::lol::lol::lol: the heat can't count on 'easy' baskets off turnovers & run-outs to help.

tony parker & company take care of the ball... and will FORCE miami to stay honest on defense. take too many chances and the slip screens & back door cuts gon kill the heat.

i say miami by 7 tonight, in overtime.

No way the spurs lose in overtime. Either they lose in regulation or win in overtime.

I say this though, if the heat lose tonight I'm calling series in 5. Stealing 2 road games is a killer. The more I think about it I don't see these mismatches I thought would favor the heat.

Re: ~~Miami Heat vs San Antonio - 2013 NBA Finals - (Spurs 1 - 0) ~~

i'd like to see coach spoelstra shake things up a bit by using shane battier more than 6 minutes, and also trying to implement some cross matches, especially when the spurs have emanuel ginobili on the floor.

Spo playing Shane at the 4 man :smh:

Plus he still is broke from outside. Miller done stole his minutes. Only way they are going to get some cross matches if they actually run the pick and roll. Heat runs a half ass pick and roll and defenders just slide right through it.

yeah, you have to let shane battier get run at the 3.

the cross matches come from the heat assignments, not from s/r. if the heat try that tactic (i would), they gotta hope the spurs players will bite and get lost. the targets of the cross match confusion would be danny green, manu ginobili, and less likely tiago splitter.

Re: ~~Miami Heat vs San Antonio - 2013 NBA Finals - (Spurs 1 - 0) ~~

Was talking about Chris Bosh in another thread...

Yea, they want him to spread the court, so the lanes could be open for Wade and James...

This is one I the reason Ive always wanted the offense to flow thru Bosh.
He attacks pretty damn well for a power forward, in his Toronto days...

Only a few highlights, but you can see the aggression...

In the other threads, some of us realize Chris struggles is affected by coaching.

yes he hate duncan with a PASSION. there's just no way i would allow him to ref. you can't count on joey to be professional. its a shame cause game 1 was called damn near perfect.

its a case of a coach not knowing that it was match up and not the player. shane had no place in last series so spo has removed him from the regular rotation.

shane has a place in this one but might not get the chance. we'll see

Re: ~~Miami Heat vs San Antonio - 2013 NBA Finals - (Spurs 1 - 0) ~~

been saying that consistently for 3 years now

Ditto....

I think if he would like the second unit go relax the product would improve...

Mike Miller can ball, let him be the focus of the bench with squad Lewis down low...

Miller is capable of anything, there's really no weakest with him(not saying his an elite plAyer, just a solid well rounded one)

Re: ~~Miami Heat vs San Antonio - 2013 NBA Finals - (Spurs 1 - 0) ~~

Man I felt, in year one Spo should ran more pick and rolls with "BOSH" and Bibby.
I know you have Lebron, but there's no need to hijack the other players skills, when the whole is better than one.

I kinda wish he would Rio loose more. Why not put as much pressure on Parker, and he puts on you. Let Rio step up to the plate, within the flow of the game tho.
Cole, Miller and Allen will be key to the success this series, they second wave of outside shooting.

Re: ~~Miami Heat vs San Antonio - 2013 NBA Finals - (Spurs 1 - 0) ~~

I've seen some of us making a big deal with S.A four turnovers, which is amazing but The Heat had 8 and maybe three came during the 4th quarter.

In others words game 1 was great and some of us might not have noticed that...

Definetly. Shame that Spo don't trust him more than he does.

At this point I don't know how much pressure you could put on Parker defensively, especially after he had to deal with steph. But some pressure is better than no pressure.

Heat played really well through 3. They did everything except force turnovers. Got some bench production early. 3 ball was going down. Rebounded well....

Everything but force those turnovers. I assuming SA will not have 4 turnovers again because that was the diff of game 1.
