Spurs Vs Grizzles Thread

BTW do you guys remember this very same convo we had last year about the Thunder?? Same folks, same logic, so why do you guys expect different results..:lol:

Most of the time when the Heat get up to the 110 level they pull their starters out and call it a day, and they do this way more than most teams..

They are averaring 99 points a game during the playoffs where they are playing all their starters at max minutes. What's your excuse now?

Tony Parker didn't carve up Conley. the match up problems caused Zack Randolph to be matched up against Parker in pick & roll sets...and that's why Tony Parker went off.

did anyone really expect zbo to stay with Tony fucking Parker? ! hollins should have IMMEDIATELY sent help defense towards Parker, but he didn't. zbo was spinning line a top looking for Parker.

and the result was layup drill...
That will never happen vs the Heat because they have quick footed defenders, unlike those slow footed trees who I been telling people are way overrated at Memphis..

They were averaging that vs Boston and Indiana last year... But sorry S.A. is not that type of a team... If they were then the match up would be a little better.

Cole is a better specialized defender than those two... If they were defending someone like Kobe or Wade, I'd choose Allen and Conley all day, but against a player like Parker, Westbrook or Nate, I'd choose Cole.
If you don't understand this, you will never get the sport of basketball.

:roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:

this is what happens when delusions have delusions.

Man...

The reason why the Spurs are so successful, is because there are about only three teams that is able to defend against the pick and roll, in the NBA and they are all in the East.. And out of those three teams, only one of them has good offense..

Stop with the bullshit.

Miami is scoring 99 points a game over the ENTIRE 2013 playoffs but they are going to score 110 a game against a team they averaged 96 points a game against during the regular season?

Miami has never averaged 110 points a game over a playoff series so stop saying that dumb shit.

They barely scored 100 a game vs OKC and all of that was based on the game 5 blowout game.

The Heat will most likely win but it won't be because of that bullshit you are talking about.

The Heat is a team that is going to give you 100 points a game over a 7 game series. That's what they do.

They can't play like the Heat because they get fucked up in rotations and switches due to their lack of size.. However they do have foot speed and are able to disrupt the passing lanes as well as keep up with the defenders.. But like the Jordan Bulls vs Utah faster athletic teams will always be the Achilles heel for pick and roll teams.

Heat fans continually bring up Jordan and the Bulls. One even has MJ in his sig. You cats on a different level of sickness. Like this Heat team compares to the MJ led Bulls. :smh: Nope!

You are going to get owned real soon, like you did last year... See you after the finals..:roflmao3::roflmao3::roflmao3:

I said the Heat would beat OKC. How was I owned? Y'all not beating the Spurs though. On Duncan's and possibly Pop's way out? Naw you can hang that up.

Lemme get this correct, we've gone from Miami getting career games from Birdman & Haslem to beat Indiana for just 2 games...to their gonna run the Spurs who can do everything the Pacers are doing, only better????

The Heat will win because they have a deeper bench, they wont need volume scoring to get points, and because they are better at the half court and defending the pick and roll...
Indiana forced the Heat to play big at times, but vs the Heat, Miami would force the Spurs to play small, Diaw being the odd man out (this years Perkins). As the result the Heat should do much better on the offensive boards.. If this the case then expect either higher production in production from Miami or if they do stick with Diaw, expect Battier to have a field day from the perimeter..

The same Heat team that lost the finals to the fucking Mavs......... at home no less. Yet they keep MJs Bulls in they mouth. :smh::lol:

I still think Miami will win. However, Miami better hope the games aren't close because the Spurs might still one SOLELY on Pop outcoaching Spo at the end.

i also think Miami will win, but giving coach pop a week to prepare & giving Duncan a week to rest are two big advantages.

and if Indiana shows up to play again-extending this series, it will not keep Miami focused, it will wear them out bc of the style of play Indiana brings.

and sorry but I don't respect spoelstra...not like i do coach pop.

game plan = pop
in-game adjustments = pop
execution = spurs

raw talent & athleticism = heat
fast break baskets = heat

shooting is equal.
defense is equal...both will pack the lane & force jumpers.

7 games, heat 4-3, with david stern having the old pro Duncan vs the young pro, James...the perfect movie script to end his tenure.

I can get with this (in terms of the pace speeding up). However, the Spurs can run and put up points. Scoring is not an issue for the Spurs.

However, all that needing to score 110 points a game and Nole causing problems for Parker being an issue is nonsense. I would be shocked if Miami scored over 110 points more than once. Parker will at minimum be around his season averages. Those aren't going to be issues.

Agree with everything above.

Spurs do not have big players to play one on one vs James, they do not have a big center who can clog up the middle and over power the Heat centers, they do not have big guards who keep Cole on the bench, they do not have Indiana bench, nor their physical play nor do they have players who can physically match up with Wade..
S.A. is more of a finesse team who is able to disrupt most teams with their fundamental style of play as well as being able to floor two big men at once... Too bad vs the Heat and their big men who can both move and shoot from the outside, this would not be too good of a plan, and as the result, they will be weaker at rebounding, similar to the way OKC was last year, when everyone swore they would dominate..

The defense is no where equal, the team that has to double team is never better than a team that don't. Im sure the Spurs will start off playing LeBron one on one, but after he starts posting up Lenard in the paint (if you think what he did to George was brutal, Lenard is a inch shorter so do the math) expect them to scrap that plan and start collapsing in the paint... Here is the difference, there will be no Hibbert either, sure they have Ducan, but he will be match against Bosh, and both Diaw and Splitter would have a hard time at trying to defend Battier from the perimeter..
So the question of the day is what should S.A. do, place the slow footed Diaw/Splittter on Bosh or Battier and have them try to guard the perimeter or leave the paint exposed for Lenard to guard LeBron one on one..
The Heat has no such issues defending the Spurs.

Birdman too.

yep...8 man. I wonder why some of those other players aren't getting more burn. Miller is a such a good shooter you would think he would get a bit more run (but defensively I know he's lacking there. That's probably why both him and Jones aren't getting any burn)

The same Heat team that lost the finals to
the fucking Mavs......... at home no less.

:hmm: it was our year bro

Might be Spurs in 6 looking at it like this

They beat the Spurs at home in a pivotal game at the end of the year, with their bench (the so called revenge game)..:hmm:

:hmm: you keep referring to the regular season as if it means something.

Spo is running a 7 man rotation now. Shit..besides Cole and Allen, nobody gets off the bench.

Exactly...Ginobili, Neal, Joseph, Diaw, & Bonner are all regulars. De Colo got plenty of burn & he still brings in Patty Mills when they need instant offense. They still got bruising ass Dejaun Blair on the bench as well. Pop may fuck around & kick the tires on T-Mac just to test the Heat

here's what the spurs will do...remember you heard it here 1st:

defense

1. let lebron get his. fuck it.
2. contain wade.
3. make everyone else hit jumpers...pushing haslem back 2-3 more feet & letting bosh fire as many 3 pointers as he wants.
4. transition well to keep fast break points to a min.
5. pack the lane if lebron starts post play with strong side double teams...forcing him to pass or shoot over big men (help defender).

offense

1. pick & roll with Tony & Tim with some slip screens & give & go's thrown-in to keep the heat honest.
2. start with pick & roll but move into motion offense...forcing the heat to play the entire court with bonner & leonard sitting waiting on 3pt ops.
3. play big. don't be surprised if you see Duncan, Splitter & Blair out there together...pop may slow it down & pound the blocks with post game action. how can the heat match up?
4. full court pressure...don't let the heat get into a rhythm...make the shot clock your 6th defender; the heat pg's are weak as fuck.

If you play big, with those slow tree's then Battier is going to have a field day... Trust me with that one... Don't believe me ask OKC about that strategy. Thats the problem they had with playing Ibaka and Perkins, it may have worked against the teams in the West, but vs the Heat, a team with big men who can move and hit the open jumper, those tree's turn into a big liability in the perimeter.

It was you bum niggas who started that MJ talk foh

No he won't, because the Spurs will punish his ass on defense like the Pacers are. Something the Thunder couldn't do.

Also the pick and roll only work if a team is unable to rotate and have match up problems... With the Heat they play small and their guards have the unusual ability to guard the paint, as well as their big men the ability to guard the perimeter. So those match up advantages they often get via teams switching up on the Spurs during the pick and roll and give and go, will often see Parker matched up with LeBron, Wade, Battier Bosh in the paint, not a good thing, he is better off trying to go one on one with Cole or Rio..

In your mind are you really envisioning Splitter to be Hibbert..:roflmao3::roflmao3:
Last year it was Perkins who was supposed to be Hibbert now its Splitter.

Well, Splitter did average more points than Hibbert & Perkins :dunno:

Thing is, they could send Splitter to the bench, start Diaw & still punish the 4 position.
