Remember when they said the same thing about the Perkins and Ibaka match up, and this was before Birdman.. But what wound up happening was they stuck Bosch in the perimeter and Ibaka had hell trying to keep up with him, and the result was the player who many people then felt was the best defender, had to get pulled and Perkins and Ibaka seldom played together..
The two were great defenders just as long as you were not able to stretch the defense and make them guard more than just the paint..
Again I been saying this since the days of Jordan, how can a player be considered the DPoY when all they do is guard one area of the floor and block shots, when defense consist of so many other things, such as steals, guarding the perimeter, playing the passing lane, defending the pick and roll and so many other things besides shot blocking..
Im not saying that players like Chandler, Ibaka and Gasol can't play defense, what I am saying is other than block shot and guard the paint, they can't do much.
Truth be told Kidd ain't been the same for about 2 years now.......but this year was a travesty. He atleast could do it up and play the passing lanes last season. He was already a liability at times on offense because he can't make layups and can only shoot the spot up 3.

Lowkey them niggas have build youth around Duncan, Ginobilli and Parker and nobody even noticed. I got them winning a ring this year......they would've done better last year had their youth been more ready and had they not been playing every night.
Heat vs Spurs gonna be a battle don't get me wrong but I just laugh every round how people keep underestimating the Spurs. That's usually when they do their most damage.

Yea I thought the Spurs were a victim of the schedule last year too. Couldn't stay healthy and you are right in that their younger players hadn't matured enough to make up for their injured stars. Not taking anything away from the Heat's 1/2 chip :smile: because OKC was a good opponent last year.

The Miami defense suffocated okc; that's why barkley & the tnt crew want to see them vs the heart again this yr.

saying this as a Spurs fan... but 2012 WC championship game 6 in OKC was that Stern/NBA hookup that made sure that the series did not go back to Texas for Game 7.
This series is going to be a tough series, but I'm tired of analyst bringing up 2011. It's not relevant unless we discuss Mayo, Jones, Shane, Manu's broken arm, Duncan dragging a leg and no Kawhi. Memphis has to get hot and stay hot from the perimeter or they will need the Stern to get involved.
Watch the Heat/Pacers and see how many of the those straight up defensive contest by the Pacers get called fouls.
