They say basketball purists will love these two Conference Finals Matchups but I honestly have lost interest. The only interesting thing to see is if any team has the balls and talent to beat Miami, otherwise i'm giving the Heat the ring already.

fast-break, run & gun bball with no defense sucks.
isolation basketball with the ball going thru one player all night long (see melo) sucks.

watching a good pick & roll offense is awesome.
watching a good motion offense is awesome.
watching a team move the ball around the court on offense and make the unselfish, extra pass is good stuff.

WATCHING A PLAYER WITH A GOOD MID-RANGE GAME WITH THE ABILITY TO USE THE GLASS HAS BEEN A LOST ART.

and playing good fundamental team defense (a lost art) is also good to watch (see miami & esp. san antonio).

players like blake griffin are great for sportscenter. but his lack of footwork and basic skills limit all that athleticism. a player like ginobili should NEVER be as effective as griffin, but he is... and that's on griffin.

btw, i HATE the spurs but i respect their game & coach. they play team ball or they sit.

"old man" basketball is played by both Memphis & Indiana. San Antonio can morph into any offense with their coach & depth. Miami is the one jump-shooting team left. if they're hot, they'll win. if they start missing jumpers, it's wide open.

it's either Melo or the coach. pick one or both.

if you have a jump-shooting team and a player that demands the offense run thru him (isolation bball), the result is the new york knicks.

what coach brought to them was DEFENSE... and they needed it bad!

but then... try to get carmelo to play defense. :smh:
try to get amare to play defense. :smh:

all those jumpers and NOT going to the rack and having a post game is why you have the FT disparity. why can't you knicks fans accept that?

get younger
get rid of felton
run a motion offense OR get a guard that can penetrate and finish and pick & roll with melo and/or a post player.

but MOVE THE DAMN BALL AROUND ON OFFENSE INSTEAD OF melo vs 5.

:smh::smh::smh:

POST UP THE KNICKS ASSIST TO POINTS RATIO. that will tell you all you need to know.

The Knicks DID take the ball to the hole in games 1,3 and 5. Guess what? Didn't work because all the Pacers did was collapse the lane. JR tried to take the ball to the cup, Melo tried to take the ball to the cup, FELTON tried to take the ball to the cup....you know what happened? They bodied the shit out of us an no fouls were called.

Look at the game 1 tape and that was a microcosm of the whole series. It wasn't our jumpshooting that fucked us it was the LACK of shooters on the floor. Indy had no reason to stay at home on Shump, JR, or anyone else when Melo drove the lane. He's the only "superstar" I know that doesn't get "superstar" calls. Last night was just the latest example.

"get younger"
This isn't Zeke's team. If Grunwald could have gotten young players last offseason he would have. Age didn't kill us in this series. Aside from Kidd, the "old guys" either produced (Prigioni) or didn't play (Camby). Kurt and Sheed left the active roster before the playoffs started.

"get rid of felton"
Felton was adequate until the Pacer series. Dude turned Paul Pierce into an afterthought in the Boston series. And who pray tell would you get to replace him with no money to spend??

A motion offense would turn everyone into the same thing you just said we shouldn't be...jumpshooters (because the Knicks can't upgrade, we're WAY over the cap) That doesn't play to the strengths of the best player on the team, which is silly. If you're a fan of motion offense that's fine but don't say that turning the Knicks into a motion offense team would be the solution for the current roster. Woodson should learn from this and stick to what works for this team. Feed Melo and keep a gang of shooters around to space the floor. Woody tried to play the old school beat-em-up ball with a squad of finesse players (except KMart and Chandler).

there are no free agent guards better than JR, unfortunately.

balls has nothing to do with winning basketball

execution does. You guys keep all these romantic notion of tough guys in your head. If they out execute the Heat they win. End of story

Scowls, chest beating and tough talk dont get you 4 wins in a series

Basketball purists they say..................

Funny a team like Miami that passes the ball, plays defense and runs a decent offense should make purists happy.

Every year nigg switching up their tune when it comes to the heat

the only thing I can think that purists couldnt like about the Heat is that the Heat have no traditional size that they can toss into the post and work inside out.

But that is because they had no choice

Exactly and the won without a pg or center

Small ball

Well said, sir... Well said...

The thing is... Lebron is an anomaly...

The Heat can play anyway they want...

Especially with Birdman...

I think the Heat match up with Indy better than people realize...

Indy can't score and they're not as tough as the Bulls. The Heat will be allowed manhandle them. LeBron will do his normal bully ball routine in the paint. Hibbert and the Pacers won't be able to body up Miami the way they did us. The refs will be extra quick with those whistles.

Barring injury the Heat had the ring before the season tipped off

The Heat are more or less a finesse squad that can match physical play if you try to make it that kind of warfare.

People always complain when they start it and the Heat respond tho

People don't complain, Bulls fans complained. Indy ain't as thorough and the Heat will take this series in 5 if not a sweep.

Maybe it's the flopping and the ref outs that turn purists away. :dunno:
