Frey is also full of shit. The only reason he's making Robb jump through hoops is b/c Robb became King in the North.
When they first made the marriage pact, Robb was the Lord of Winterfell. Therefore, Frey is actually losing nothing by getting Edmure instead of Robb. He's being a bitch about it though because Robb's status changed AFTER they made the marriage pact, meaning he could've been getting a queen. His bitch ass didn't know or expect that when the marriage pact was made.

That's actually what made me go look for that scene. Sending them girls in there, just to get him going, just to turn around and cut his manhood off. I was starting to feel bad for Theon. I couldn't remember exactly what he did to deserve that kind of treatment. After watching some season 2 highlight clips .... Fuck Em. He earned every bit of that shit.
