Rare and very interesting photos

Johnny Gray, 15, punches a white student during a scuffle in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1958. Johnny and his sister, Mary (standing behind him), were en route to their segregated school when the two whites in the photo ordered them to get off the sidewalk. Racial tension plagued the Little Rock school system for years after court-ordered integration began in 1957. Governor Orval Faubus defied the courts by closing all the public schools in 1958. Another court order reopened them in 1959.

California gets its name from the story of Queen Calafia a women who ruled over a country of beautiful black Amazons with lots of pearls and gold. Spanish conquistadors of California thought they found this mythical island in 1535, because they found pearls and the state was named before it was explored.

The image on the top left is what the majority thinks of when we say “First Black President”… But little do they know we’ve already had one. The image on the right is John Hanson America’s true first black president. But don’t expect to find his picture or his name in any history books… If you want proof just take a look at the back of the 2 dollar bill… You’ll find his face was the only black one in the room during the writing and signing of the declaration.

February 2, 1848 - The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo is signed between the U.S. and Mexico, ending the Mexican-American War (1846–48). With the defeat of its army and the fall of the capital, Mexico entered into negotiations to end the war. Mexico was forced to give the U.S. 55% of its land – the Mexican territories of Alta California and Santa Fé de Nuevo México – which now are the U.S. states of California, New Mexico, Utah, Colorado and Arizona as well as Texas.

not a rare pic but this is the widow of Medgar Ever now. She never stopped fighting for Civil Rights even after Medgars death. Here she is at Obamas 2nd inauguration at age 80. She looks fantastic for her age and her mind is still sharp!
