Well, yeah...
...there are things people do, that you never expect them to admit to. I guess Kobe is so close to the end that he feels it really matter anymore if he just tells the truth.
At this point, he probably ain't gaining or losing any significant amount of fans - so, no need to pull punches.
Kobe loves being the hero. The one the cameramen and announcers race to after the game for comments. The one who took the final shot for the win. Who put up the most points.
Its rare no matter how vital the play that great defensive plays by players get the recognition deserved in key situations. The key to being considered the GOAT is to shoot the ball and hit your shots, hit home runs and to throw touchdowns.
