I just added this "rapsploitation" as a sub-genre to my blog. I haven't gave it a formal definition yet, but other movies would included Juice, House Party, Breakin', Beat Streets, Above the Rim, Set it Off....etc

Since you started this thread is would be great to discuss some of the criteria of deeming a movie rapsploitation. I don't think it has to be cheap and straight to DVD/VHS.

every movie mentioned was very hard to watch but suprisingly i gave them all a chance, i didnt mind streets is watching but sp1 and sp2 was more comedic imo

If it wasn't a straight to dvd movie about some rapper living the life of crime it wouldn't be 'raploitation'. Master P's 'Bout It' was the blueprint.

Yeah some of those are just movies with a rapper as a star, I wouldn't say that's the same thing.

I'm thinking movies where it was like 3-4 real, trained, actual actors in it, and then the rest were rappers.

What about movies that are hip-hop base though?

I understand the low budget though. I like this thread because there are many movies that I don't know about that are real underground.
