Every now and then but they kinda sucked. Drive this person there, get robbed and chase them down, they seemed redundant like the drug bust. Did any of them eventually unlock some mini games or sumin? It was just a bit bland after a while.

Rented this weak ass game from redbox an took it back less than a day later. Shit was ass the hand to hand was cool but I just didn't like the game. Couldn't hold my interest

Ya that was the only fun thing to do during the demo...I seen other footage on YouTube and the game just looks boring...so I picked up Max Payne 3 instead but so far I'm unimpressed w/ that too

Fight Clubs, Races, multiple girlfriend side-quests, random event side-quests, you go from drug busts to tapping people's phones. More elaborate cop cases and triad extortion missions. I still haven't beaten it, I put in about 16hrs since it dropped playing off and on. About 75% done with the story, taking my time doing and seeing everything. It's not San Andreas but I like it (in small doses).

Ninja Tune Radio is the shit.

Man. WTF. Did I miss sumin, I finished this game already and I don't finish games quick at all.

Besides the combat system this didn't have anything better than GTA.

Yeah I just finished it. Almost 100% (there was a random event I missed or something) and I think I only played it hard for like 4 days (the story and side missions). An extra day for the races, a day for the collectibles, and one for the miscellaneous stuff - so about a week, give or take. It had me logged as 26 hours of play.

Like you said, the melee fighting was cool and different. I personally liked the whole free-running/parkour chases and the times you finally did get to use a gun. The story was alright, but other than that, it's nothing special.

I'm willing to play through it again for the story (and might even get the DLC with the extra cop missions and the sword) and also since it didn't take too long to finish. Then I'll probably retire it.

It's definitely no GTA killer (any of them), not a Saints Row killer (maybe SR 1) or even LA Noire. GTA V is already killing SD on features alone. Ya'll kinda over-hyping this one.

Yes it is, but the X-factor is multiplayer, which unfortunately sleeping dogs does not have. I whined and moaned on the SR forum last year and I just whined and moaned on the SD forum the past two days about lack of multiplayer.. Hong Kong is nicer and slightly bigger than I had excepted in SD, hopefully they could implement a multiplayer DLC? I hope and pray. Such a nice map will going to waste without 16 player free roam, competitive, and races and shit.



If max payne multiplayer is any indication of how GTAV multi is gonna be it's gonna be the best shit ever. If that shit plays like max payne + gta???


But then again,sleeping dogs hand to hand is soooooo beast...

I dunno what some of you kats are talking about but, Sleeping Dogs has raised the bar in terms of the sandbox genre. The game is perfect, I can't find a single thing wrong with it. I was addictive to that game from start to end and this is coming from a casual gamer whose not really into video games in hardcore fanatical kind of way. I never really became addictive to GTA the way I was with Sleeping Dogs. I was engrossed and engaged by that game from start to end. That is why sleeping dogs is shitting on GTA at the moment.

Don't get me wrong GTA is a brilliant game, I mean common now it's like the Original Gangster or Godfather when it comes to the blueprint of that kind of genre, but like just the iphone the brand is always gonna be more popular than the actual quality of the game itself. So it's hard for people to open up their minds to something else. It's like the same thing when it comes to the iphone and apple fan boys.

I picked it up for $19...it's so so...I'm a lil annoyed cuz between dling the new shit for it and the loading times I had to wait 15 minutes just to play the game...then end up beating the first level in 5 minutes it might grow on me tho...shooting is fun...that's my other gripe w/ Sleeping Dogs...seems like guns are scarce in that game...I would probably get bored w/ just fighting after a while

Perfect?! Now it's far from that. What did SD have that was so revolutionary besides the combat system which was actually just bringing back the old True Crime style of combat in a sandbox game really???

I can specifically name a few things that are big factors missing in a sandbox game like this and why it's not on GTAs level.
​

- The map was pretty small.

- No physics. In a day & age where most games like this have some type of real time physics, I was very disappointed with the physical interactions in the game. I've become a stickler for physics since Real-Time Physics have been introduced which GTA has now.

- The story wasn't anything new.

- It was kind of repetitive with not a lot of unique missions.

- Vehicular options weren't nearly as good.

- Vehicular control was a bit stiff.

- There really weren't even as many mini-games and I didn't feel like the freelance mode (not doing missions) had enough options to really even keep you occupied when you didn't wanna do a mission or finished. There wasn't a lot of different character types to even fuck with on the street.

- What was up with the lack of ability to keep a weapon or two around...?

- I had 3 missions to had to complete restart due to glitches.
1) On a chase scene my motorcycle started riding all herky-jerky on its own and I'd fall off after a few seconds later.

2) At the end of another chase I got stuck inside the street.

3) Can't remember the other.

The game just had a few of the best elements of True Crime and Just Cause but it doesn't surpass GTA or even give them a run for the money at this point. Maybe another SD can, but not this one for the reasons I mentioned already. SD had​

SD having the ability to jack a moving car from your car via jumping on it and hanging off the roof - that's cool, but not raising the bar.

The only real difference is it's more brawling than shooting, and the guy does parkour like he's Spiderman. Otherwise it's really the same game.

Real talk: It's GTA 3, in Chinatown, but prettier, with some police mini-games added to it like "Guess the 4-digit code to the safebox" or pick the door lock. Otherwise it's the same - drive here, kill these guys, follow this person, save this person, chase this person, race this person, kill him and find shit stashed around the city - sandbox game.

I mean I like the game, but damn it, it ain't all that. It is what it is - True Crime 3.

I almost got Max Payne 3, but they say you don't really have a lot of freedom with the game. And the constant cutscenes (undercover loading screens) really fuck with the flow of the gameplay, so I decided not to get it.

As for SD, the environmental attacks save the fighting system from being boring.

Like you can slam dudes into like telephone booths and beat them with the phone, or body slam them into glass floors, throw them off buildings, slam your car's door on their necks, put their heads in through saws and meat grinders and shit. There's this one mission where you fight a gang of guys in a fish/meat locker and they got hooks hanging from the ceiling and you can throw a guy on to the hooks and he's just hanging there leaking blood for the rest of the level.

I'm cheap as fuck plus I really don't have time for video games so I usually buy them and they sit around collecting dust...but I just came back from Toys R Us...buy 1 get 1 for $1 so I copped Sleeping Dogs and Madden 13...4th games I've bought this week...I'm beat all these shits tho even if they suck...not gonna let em collect dust...November for some reason I always break down and buy a buncha games...I got 8 in rotation now...I got 4 shooting games should last me til the summer...the rest are sports joints which will last me a good while too

Wow this fuckin game kicked it up a notch...shit is on some Die Hard shit...very fuckin intense shootouts...the loading times have gotten manageable...really find myself getting into the story and wanting to save that Brazilian chic...just got to the part where he shaved his head and following this dumb ass kid of all ppl thru the favelas...game is serious business seeing head shots is crazy

I bought Sleeping Dogs a couple of months ago for $50. I enjoyed it so much I spent about $30 on the dlc missions. Very fun game.
