For the blogs I have, blogcatalog is good for traffic and ranking, as far as the sites are concern bussiness cards ( got them free from vistaprint ) and t-shirts are working good from me.
I sometimes put the cards in free magazine & newsletter boxes that we have all over place in San Diego also bulletins on college campuses, postal boxes, laundry's etc etc all that has brought me crazy traffic ( hot college girls love free t-shirts ) you really got to get your hustle on but BGOL & other forums brings in mad traffic too.

Dude, make sure anything that starts with "meta" in the source code is tight on each page.
Make sure you are listed in directories.
Make sure your content is relevant and long tail keyworded.
Get your sig game up in forums and your relationship game up on social networks.

This is a new age today called Web 2.0 and should be writing articles to promote your sites that will get you ranked higher and higher with Google and Alexa.

Other than search engines, link exchanges and the typical top list sites. What are you site owners doing to increase your hits?? What online and offline marketing things are you doing?? Other than spamming bgol...

Ok, you have a website. It's there on the web. When type in the url it pulls up.
Now, how do you get people to it? Traffic. In your words, hits.
The majority of the information in this thread looks to place YOUR site in front of people looking for YOUR product or service.
Whether it be meta data, directories, video, linking...all of these situations put your site in the way of "traffic" so you in turn can get "hits" in a nutshell.

No, you don't have to watch the 30 min video. But it's probably a good thing that you do so you can learn how the blogging system works and how you can get paid off it.
But if you don't want to watch the video, just open it in another tab, pause the video (the timer still runs), and do something else for the next 30 mins. Then sign up.
