Found out a homeboy of mine has an appointment at the Cancer center on Monday he's been having night sweats, fever, achy bones and 13 lymphnoid swellings in his upper body. Everything points at Leukemia and he's a 36 year old weed and cig smoker.

Any advice would be appreciated. Peace.

I'm sorry, but everything points to A.I.D.S. Thats what they should be checking him for. :smh: Maybe hodgkins disease... WHo knows... ask peterpiper1978 or that other doctor on this forum

pray for him...

never say i know what you are going through

research and learn about his conditions

dont treat him as if he is "sick" or "different" now

get tested and see if you are a marrow match

Not AIDS dudes been married 15years and totally faithful. But he already has an appointment for Oncologist. Thanks anyway though.

my mom got diagnosed with leukemia in her brain last june, she only made it until oct
it was NOT a nice thing to witness :smh:

A very close relative of mine was diagnosed at 10 years old. She was able to beat it with a bone marrow transplant from another relative. So there is hope.

Not trying to be funny at all, but is this person you? Most of the time when people say "their friend" has a condition, it's usually them.... Code Piarana ( i think thats his name ) and peterpiper1978 are real doctors here....They seem to be good doctors and quite helpful... Send them a pm.... Also dr truth is an asswipe, and isn't a real doctor so don't holler at him...

My condolences to you and yours. I dont wish cancer on anyone :smh::smh:... I didnt really understand how fucked up it is until I witnessed a family member die from it... people who havent experienced it don't understand. It's fucking terrible :smh::smh:

My father has a rare form. Attacked both white and red blood cells. They gave him 6 months to live in 04. I walked right pass him at my daughter's birthday party. That's how much weight he lost!!! Mentally he refused to throw in the towel. Prayed and fought. Right now he's healthier that some dudes younger than me! Cancer in full remission.

I say that to say, with the right things on anyone's dude side he can triumph! My father's not out the woods no, but he's not day to day on his death bed.

I wish you boy the best

what type? CML, CLL, ALL, AML?

If i had to chose i would take ALL.
i have treated people with all forms. kids with this pretty much bounce back after having chemo to totally destroy the immune system temporarily, the new marrow is placed and hopefully it takes and isnt rejected. bone marrow has high success rate if transplant if donor is high match (9-10).

then its months of home infusions

Damn! I couldn't imagine my Moms going through that. How young was she?

Isn't it hard to find a 9-10 match for black people?

sounds like it could be leukemia...but there alot of other conditions that present with similar symptoms. could be lung cancer with smoking history.
swollen lymph glands, especially sounds suspicious. This means that the lymph system is is fighting on more than one front, or that the front they are fighting is so strong that the lymph nodes in other areas are sending lymphocites to the source of trouble, phagocytizing, and transporting it back to their areas of the lymph system. (we have 2 different circulatory systems. The blood circ. sys. and the lymph circulatory sys. The lymph system is for deployig WBC's and phagocytes to the 'invader' and defending you from other potential invasions

Right on for responding, we don't know anything yet about which one he has, I'm basically diagnosing it based on the info given an the fact he has to see a specialist Monday. So I'll know more details that evening.

Shits kind of a gutpunch

only because we dont go out and make ourselves donor. it really changes the life of the pt. i am all for it for kids. leukemia kids are some of the most insightful kids that i know. plus they go through treatments that would water the avg person's eyes

I was diagnosed with non-hodgkin's lymphoma right after I turned 29. I went through about 5 months of chemotherapy and I've been cancer free for over 6 years now.

Pops passed at 46 from it. Discovered when he was 37 and was in remission for 8 years. Then it came back with a vengeance. He died 2 months later. Was bodybuilding marathon runner. Went from 6-2 200lbs to 6-1 150lbs... Eventually gained back 27 lbs or so while I'm remission
