Here is the original Mario (there were at least 2 more). The song was sung by the late Madilu System with the grandmaster giving the running commentary.
In short the song recounted the saga of Mario, a handsome young gigolo with 5 degrees: one from London, one from Paris, one from Belgium, one from Canada and a 5th from the USA. However, Mario did not want to find a job and leeched on a sugar mommy whom Madilu system represented in the song. The sugar mommy told Mario to leave because she was tired of his domestic violence, cheating, indolence, parasitism and presumptuous arrogance, where he behave as if her things were his. The woman lamented that Mario's job was to rap the skulls of her children with his bare knuckles. She asked him to leave, to take all his clothes, and those in the laundry, she would send through other people. Franco claimed that Mario returned to his parents home, and tried to sleep on his childhood bed, but was too long for it and his feet hung over the end. The woman complained that she borrowed money from a circle of friends who pulled and together loaned each other money in turn and bought a Mercedes Benz 190. She asked Mario out for a ride. On the way, Mario grabbed the steering wheel and said he wanted to drive. The woman would not yield and fought because she wanted people to see that the Mercedes was hers, but in the struggle, Mario drove the car into a tree (Mario atuteli ngai voitre na nzete!). Franco further eviscerated Mario by saying that he camped at the woman's house ate her food, watched her TV and blew up her phone. When Franco tried to tell him, Mario denied it and said "it is not so, it is not so". Franco lamented that Mario had no shame in eating the food and using the property another man had bought for the woman. He admonished Mario to be thoughtful of the sacrifice this man had made. The woman said "today it is quarrels, tomorrow it is fighting. I refuse to destroy my body with nail scratches, Mario I am tired, leave, Mario I am fed up, go!" (Lelo Makambo Lobi koswana. Naboyi kobebisa nzoto na manzaka. Nalembi. Kende na yo! Nabaye yo!". Franco claims that the woman came home and found Mario very angry. She assumed that her children had not cooked for him, and went straight into the kitchen and whipped a meal. When she put the food in Front of Mario, he refused to eat it. He said "The linen suit which just came out today, I need you to go and buy it for me. If you do not, the marriage will die just like that!"
Like most of his songs, the saga of Mario allegedly had roots in real life. Apparently Franco set his sights on the charms of a mixed race woman who was the widow of a mixed race man who had been a minister in the government of Mobutu Sese Seko. However, the woman was not impressed by Franco's fame or fortune and spurned his interest. She in stead accepted the love of a handsome, young, mixed-race man. Franco was so incensed that he sung this song eviscerating that young man. Franco embellished the young man's social status by accusing him of having 5 degrees when he may not have had one so that his fall would be bigger when Franco cut hm down to size. In a famous TV interview, the famous TV Zaire presenter, and friend of Franco, Lukunku Sampu, asked him about Mario, and commented that Franco had destroyed this man's reputation. Franco who had allegedly said he even knew the address where Mario lived tried to diffuse the question by stating that Mario was not a Zairian as people believed, but a Portuguese..
. Anyway, the story is told that Mario came to Dallas and was invited to a party where some pranksters played this song repeatedly, though without eliciting a reaction from him.

Here this American cac boys does himself proud by playing some of the riffs of Mario. The boy perceptively uses two guitars. The accoustic guitar is equipped with a carpo, just like Franco often did his guitars. Then he play the guitar almost with open strings. Finally, he reprises the solo on the electric guitar. This stands to reason because he is actually playing the parts played 2 of the 4 guitars in the song. He programed the bass, left our the rythm and played the mi-solo of Franco and the solo of Gerry Dialungana. The song itself was played strictly with electric guitars.
