Official iPhone5 Announcement Thread - 1PM EST

Build quality was the original reason why I departed from Apple after the 3GS. I had the original Iphone replaced once under warranty. My first 3G I spilled soda on, had it replaced out of warranty. My 2nd 3G had white screen flicker so I had that replaced. The 3rd 3G headphone jack stopped working. I took it apart and found a connector came lose. My 3GS just stopped working altogether. Couldn't restore through Itunes or anything. At that point I had enough.

So why would you buy a phone without a case? I think the 5 looks good but without a case paying apple repair costs? No sir....

I've gotten so many replacements for my busted evo charge ports its not even funny.

IF you have to buy a protective case for your phone it has a design flaw, if you want to keep your phone looking pretty that is another story but if you need one so it doesn't break that aint right

I was being sarcastic. IE..the phone is so aesthetically please, that I wouldn't want to hide it with a case. But I think I'm doing pretty good without a case of my GSII

Then most phones have a design flaw, when they drop parts break off.

Its very nice looking, I wouldn't want a case of it either and if I did maybe element case since they make nice cases. The iphone in black with a nice watch would look good.

I think cats gotta be honest and just admit that Apple didn't bring that fire with the iOS 6 which is the whole issue. It honestly looks like they're going through the same thing Microsoft and RIM went through once they got a real hot product on their hands. Apple has put themselves in a place where people will start saying that Apple has lost its luster if the next iPhone is iterative. You can make all the nice videos with the white backgrounds and spit all the hyperbole you want but the facts are that the competitors have caught up and Apple can only rely on its ecosystem to save people from flocking for so long. You look at Android and it's just so much more evolved than iOS, eventhough it's not as polished, it's much more functional in a lot of ways. The thing that should concern Apple fans is the fact that the really set Apple apart in the tech world is gorgeous design and industry leading software. Today we didn't see industry leading software, it was freaking awesome software, but Android is really starting to eat iOS' lunch.

Well put my man...

Even the so called ecosystem is no longer a selling point. :smh:

Google Play is getting stronger.

Amazon...no need to go further. I have all iDevices (iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch), but when I do buy mp3's I use Amazon because they are cheaper.

Microsoft is coming on strong. All they have to do is get it right, and I feel they are heading in the right direction

I have both IOS and Android and WP7, and I gotta say the most vibrant, fluent and user friendly OS is Window Phone. Everything just works and it's so much quicker. People talk about market share but they gotta understand something, Windows phone 7 didn't launch with Windows 7, it was after. Also, Windows phone 7 suffered from the lack of many features that were already out for Android, IOS and even Rim. The reason why the app count on WP7 is so low has to do with the software limitation, not the user base or lack of interest.

Windows Phone 8 fixes all of these mistake. It's launching the same day as Windows 8. It now supports higher specs such as multi-cores, HD screens NFC and cross-play. Can't wait.

I actually like the new Iphone 5. It's not innovative or anything, but I just like the look of it. I'm glad they got a bigger screen finally. I would seriously like to add one of these to my arsenal. I think if anybody was thinking hard about switching from Android to IOS this would be the phone to do it.

Yea android users are going to leave an open OS and flash for the iPhone.

Someone said bigger screen?
On CNET live broadcast they were clowning that saying "ooo, we get an extra row of tweets, can't wait"

NOT!

I will look at a galaxy 3, but the cheapness of the material comes through after a couple of weeks of ownership. :smh:

I hate buying a case for any phone imo. I love a phone for the beauty on the outside as well as how good it works software side. However, I do understand people getting them, to avoid heartbreaking accidents.

JellyBean is a version of Android, so is ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich)

JB is 4.1.1
ICS is 4.0

Older version that most phones come with previous to ICS was Gingerbread 2.3

Now there aren't different versions because of only the carrier, it is because they are different models of phones, Verizon radio or phone cannot run on AT&T which is a GSM type service.
But you can hack an AT&T phone with a different APN or radio to run on different GSM networks like T-Mobile or the others in Canada like Rogers or whatever else is up there

I'm still running Gingerbread on my AT&T HTC Inspire:angry: I wanna upgrade to at least ICS.
Any help?

I am no guru on other phones, just know my Galaxy Note and how to root Samsungs, HTC is different.

Here is the sub-forum on XDA about your Inspire
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1015

Look in the Android Development sub-forum

As far as ROM's, I usually look at how many people are commenting in a thread, and how many are contributing to the development of a ROM. This one looks pretty good, has over 500 posts from January and was just updated again on 9/09

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1460820

Make sure you learn to root your phone. And read and ask questions on the Q&A forum over there if you can't find an answer, but am sure there is tons of info there on what to do and what are the latest ways to do so.

Aw lawd... :smh:

... The urban iphone models gonna be doing new tricks in da shake junt to buy these pieces of shit like hot cakes..
