Official iPhone5 Announcement Thread - 1PM EST

I actually like the new Iphone 5. It's not innovative or anything, but I just like the look of it. I'm glad they got a bigger screen finally. I would seriously like to add one of these to my arsenal. I think if anybody was thinking hard about switching from Android to IOS this would be the phone to do it.

I won't hate on them, they will sell "a few" to their loyal base I'm sure.

It will be their best-selling phone ever. Just like the 4s when it came out, despite a BGOL thread identical to this one. (Actually I think the 4s thread last year was worse).

Cool. Now i'm not into the whole stock, out-of-the-box scene, and judging from most posters on here, Android is legit, so what's the equivalent of jail-breaking on Android?

Rooting

And flashing different roms onto your headset If you want

We all got opinions but do you believe a bigger screen would make someone hop over there?

Stop talking shit, The Touch Screen is horrible on the Android, It will never be as smooth as Apple Patented MultiTouch.

But i do agree IPhone 5 = IPhone 4GS 2.0! :smh:
WTF is you talking about , i have no idea what android phone you used but that statement alone = FAIL. :smh:

Will be interesting to see if it does become the best selling ever.

Rooting, got it. Off to do some research.

I would ask yourself why you wanted to jailbreak on iOS. There's a chance you may not need to do it with Android because it's a bit more open.

I don't have a newer phone now (waiting on the Nexus release coming soon) but I mainly root to overclock the processor, have more control over backups and delete stock apps that the carrier or manufacturer installed

:lol::lol:

nah, not just the bigger screen. it's not really what Apple is dong that makes the switch seem appealing. It's more what Google isn't doing. Android is in a lull right now. The Jellybean rollout is extremely slow. We saw the Google I/O event that had all the new features for Android 4.1, but hardly anybody is getting it. That could be frustrating to some Android users. One nice thing that was done, was allowing devs to host ROMs through the Google download center. But the variety of hardware and manufactures make Android development difficult for those on less popular devices. I wouldn't make a switch, but I wouldn't have having an Iphone 5 as a communications supplement.

Head on over to http://forum.xda-developers.com/

Everything you want and need to know about rooting and can find a JellyBean kang to run on your phone.

CyanogenMod or CM10 is one of the better ROM's of hacked stuff, but many developers over there take their rom as a base and add onto it, that is called a "kang"

I have my Galaxy Note running CM10 JellyBean 4.1.1 at 1836 clock speed. Along with a ton of "paid" apps off Blackmart...

Just wanted to clarify in case dude is expecting JellyBean on the SIII

JB is on the SIII

I see. Well that last one is for certain to start. I saw a stock Android screen that had a shit load of icons. I didn't know where to start.

Does Android have a version of Lockdown Pro in it's app market? SBS? Wunderradio?

The holdup is with the carriers mostly. If you're not on Verizon or Sprint, a Nexus device from Google will solve everything you mentioned

Ok, not mad.

Why you cats take hours out of your day to comment on products you don't like and will never own and call people that do own them "fanboys" and "sheep" for absolutely no other reason is beyond me.

It's still truly not that serious.

ICS is still shitting on what i saw today. Jelly Bean just shits & piss on it ..

So wait, there isn't a standard way to jb on android devices?

& is jb'ing carrier based? Like if your siii is on AT&T, its

Different from jb'ing same phone that is on verizion?

JellyBean is a version of Android, so is ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich)

JB is 4.1.1
ICS is 4.0

Older version that most phones come with previous to ICS was Gingerbread 2.3

Now there aren't different versions because of only the carrier, it is because they are different models of phones, Verizon radio or phone cannot run on AT&T which is a GSM type service.
But you can hack an AT&T phone with a different APN or radio to run on different GSM networks like T-Mobile or the others in Canada like Rogers or whatever else is up there
