What rappers are you liking right now??

I haven't really listened to that Trade tape that much, but I think it will grow on me like his last Super Villian tape did. I actually wasn't feeling Roddy's tape. But I fucks with them both the same when they do their features.

But yeah, I've been bumping KD since "Polos & Nikes", that was like 2006. DJ Burn One used to be a message board I was on, cool ass white dude, he put me on to one of his mixtapes he did with Block Ent. and I heard that song and I was jammin' that shit like everyday.

Then after the board went down, for years, I didn't know KD made other songs until he did that song with Freddie Gibbs last year on another DJ Burn One mixtape, and I was jammin' the fuck outta that shit and then I started seeing KD mixtapes on LiveMixtapes and I downloaded 3-4 of them including that one that was like 100 songs and I went through that shit and found out he been dropping some nice cuts since "Polos and Nikes". So KD gets an instant download from me.

You probably talkin' about Down-South.com.

Da song you talkin' about KD did w/Gibbs was "Let Me Ride" on his G-Fluid album. I was just listenin' to "Polos & Nikes" earlier. I fucks w/SchoolboyQ a lil' somethin' too. That new Rich Boy & Supa Villain mixtape straight. I'm kinda indifferent about that Domo Genesis & Alchemist tape. And Rugby Thompson was "meh". I'ma have to go back & listen to that Cornerboy P mixtape.

Gibbs need to stop bullshittin' & drop Baby Face Killa. He & Madlib are a wonderful combo.

:smh::smh:

u niggas don't know shit about good music...just posting up your homeboys and people u know....

Da fuck are you talkin' about.

Son, you read my mind!

:dance::dance::dance:

I'ono but I liked Cyhi a lot more before he got signed. Y'all should've heard how hard buddy was going seemingly every night either on 103.3 or 107.9 down here in da A spittin' straight gangsta shit that had a nigga like :puke:

Hell yeah I'm waiting on that Madlib/Gibbs collab. I haven't bumped that ALC and Domo Genesis yet, but I check for anything Alchemist touches. Corner Boy P is the wackest nigga with the Jets. Son gets some dope beats and I'm like fuck I wish Spitta would rap over dem shits. That Smoke DZA joint was kinda weak, but that joint with Action Bronson and the one with Spitta bangs.

Nah it was a site called IAP that sold albums and dvds and shit of underground artists from the south. I think I remember Down South.

Domo and Alchemist tape might grow on me like Covert Coup did.

I think Harry Fraud gave his better beats to Spitta, I'd even bet Spitta let DZA put Baleedat on his tape instead of his. But I think they should've threw that on Spitta's tape and made Cigarette Boats a duo tape. Add DZA verses to Biscayne Bay and Leaving the Dock, and kept '67 Turbo Jet, Turnbuckle Music, and the Rugby Thompson song as their solo tracks.

Cornerboy's tape was alright. This was my first time coppin' anything of his. I don't really like his flow, but I liked a few songs off the tape. He's definitely the weak link though.

Remake of UGK's Hi-Life:

Does Street Wiz still rap? He makes like one verse a year.

RAPSODY...out of 9th wonder camp.

DOM KENNEDY

and of course MF DOOM, Currency, Yasiin Bey, ASAP

right now its just joe budden big krit and lamarr...im hoping this thread can put me on somebody new...i know bruno mars dont rap but his music is growing on me

for me, its Kardinal Offishal up in Toronto, Canada. He got a caribbean vide to his flow.

Best thing about Kardi' is that he has always paid his dues. He has been around in the Canadian game since the mid-90s ... and has ties to The Circle (Choclair / Y-Look / Solitair / Jully Black, etc). Toronto has repped very well in hiphop over the years, and it's a shame more of the artists didn't catch larger breaks over time. Kardi' started getting more mainstream attention when he did some acting on a CBC series back in the day, and in recent years with his ties to Akon (props to the homie on that). Akon's always gotten strong radio and video rotation, so I knew it was a good thing when Kardi' got included as more American and international listeners would get a chance to check him out. Kardi' and Choclair are 2 of my all-time faves out of Toronto. Can't forget the homie Saukrates as well. He made his mark back when he was around 17, and it was cool seeing him get more shine a few years back when him and Nelly Furtado toured together with her major album from 2006 or so (the one with Timbaland). We don't have as many big name cats here on the westcoast of Canada.

Top 5 album of the year so far.

da young bul Joey Bad Ass!!:yes: lil nigga 17 and on some other level shit that reminds me of the hardcore NYC sounds of the early-mid 90s... Bootcamp type shit. Dude blew my mind man. His future as a true emcee is maaad bright. And I hope many follow up in that path of REAL emceeing:yes:

I like Mookie Jones' new mixtape "Mack", all the tracks (except one track) are produced by either Cardo or DJ Burn One

I found this song to be quite forgettable.

That "natural titty sag" shot a 1:15 however, was not .

I think my problem with rap at this point is everything has been said already; which is somewhat inherent with it being an art form which is now in it's mid-30s.

The fact that there aren't too many things that a person can rap about, you have to be extremely good at rapping or have a very creative way to get your message across in order for it to be interesting.

If not, your next best bet is to make music that harks back to a forgone "golden era" in rap's history. People are generall suckers for nostalgia.

Kardinal Official
Lecrae (Church Clothes Mixtape)
Flatbush Zombies (Drugs)
Schoolboy Q
Big K.R.I.T K.R.I.T was Here
8 Ball Life's Quest
Trademark Da Skydiver Super Villain Mixtape 2
Smoke DZA
And a lot of Thugstep mixtapes cause most rap music is shit to me these days. BGOL has opened my eyes to groups I never heard of but other than that most stuff in rotation is a joke.

That's fine. You probably wouldn't like anything I posted then because I'm more of a vibe kind of guy as opposed to being about lyrics, concepts and subject matter. I'm all about how the music moves me, makes me feel, it's like a soundtrack or some theme music to me and how I flow. I'm a mellow, chilled-out type of dude and that's how I like my music. All the songs I posted have that same chilled out vibe.

I don't really look for any mind-blowing lyrics, or enlightenment on current events or anything like that from my music. I think that would be hard to come by to find an artist who says things that haven't been regurgitated a bunch of times, and then make a song out of it and put it to a nice beat.

Not to say I like wack rappers, I think the rappers I listen to regularly do pretty decent when coming up with different ways to say the same things over and over.

I'm not sure what you're looking for. It sounds like you're just bored with rap music. Maybe you should get into other genres or read more books, or get into poetry and listen to instrumentals or something.

I mostly listen to the OG's, but a few new cats get spin.
Krit, Curren$y, some Wiz, some A$ap, I know Phonte isn't really new but his debut solo stays in rotation.

Shit...Niggas going to clown...but so what

Big Sean, 2 Chainz, Juicy J, Young Jeezy, Odd Future, Clipse (Lord Willin)
