If you're like me, you woke up Friday morning to the horrific news of this tragedy. My heart sank, I cried. When I read about Jamie Rohrs the father (if you can call him that) that dropped his 4 month old son on the floor and fled to saftey, I was disgusted. I then saw him and his girlfriend (Patricia Legarreta) on CNN, he was fake crying. Then I slept on it, and was glad that to know there were others that felt the same as I did about this COWARD.

Enough about Jamie Rohrs. I would like to give a true American Hero glory. In a life or death situation, Jarell Brooks saw a mother and 2 kids, and got them to safety, even took a bullet to his thigh. Jarell will have to take time off work while he is recovering so me and my husband thought to donate to him. He should be recognized as a TRUE HERO. As a mother of young children this really hit home because I would want someone to do the same for me. Let's bless Jarell, every dollar adds up! He's a fine young man, who is selfless and a HERO! It's what you do when no one is looking, when the cameras are off that defines the REAL soul of a man.

Me & my husband (retired NBA player Isaiah Rider) run a non profit www.skyriderfoundation.org we award scholarships to outstanding students. This story really touched me to reach out to Jarell! *UPDATE 7/22 Jarell Brooks and his lovely mother Eirz Scott have joined the campaign! Jarell is currently at home recovering but still in a lot of pain and of course emotionally distraught. His mother gives all glory to God for bringing her son home. I learned that Jarell graduated high school in May and is eager to begin college in the fall! I must also commend Jarell's mother Eriz Scott for raising such a fine young honorable man. It all starts at home. Jarell is working on a video to post soon. Let's all pray for Jarell's speedy recovery physically and emotionally.

Just stating what I heard. That was one of the reasons they gave for asking for donations. If/when he gets a settlement, it's not going to come in time to pay for next semesters tuition.

And no one said he should go back to work, but I dont mind donating a few bucks to a good cause.

I just checked his fb page (and I rarely ever go on fb), but he seemed like a decent kid that was in school & had a job at a theme park.
