all the crackers are chiming in![]()

The word doesn't really have any power.
The racial slurs they have for us have power because of their social/economic and political, position relative to us, both actual and perceived nationally and globally
Agreed.
It is offensive and shouldn't be tolerated especially by people of color. Since we should be more sympathetic in the use of language to dehumanize another person. It doesn't matter if one word carries more weight because of the historical usage. It should never be acceptable.
Any attempt to rationalize any slur about someone's race, ethnic background or sexual orientation dehumanizes the user as well as the subject in which it is intended.
It isn't silly to dismiss it. In this context it doesn't matter. People's lexicon grow everyday. Just because a new word or a new definition arises doesn't change its current impact. Words are that they are. If a new term is created tomorrow for the love of your life. Should your wife dismiss it cause it is a new term? Or should she embrace it based on the intent when you use it towards her? You are entitled to view it as you wish. I'm not knocking you. I am just explaining how I see it. Which of course is my reality. And how cac is defined to you is yours.
We'll have to agree to disagree gentlemen. I don't even believe that "race" is an actual thing. It's just a silly social construct invented by people to maintain systems of power. So I can honestly say that if I felt the phrase "CAC" was some incredibly derogatory term I wouldn't use it.... it's largely meaningless imo.
As to the notion of dehumanization.... that's a pretty huge stretch and it draws a false equivalence between actual slurs (spic, chink etc) and meaningless phrases ("cracker").
Just my opinion.
If I call every white racist/troll from Boston a "Walter"... does this rise to the level of "racial slur"?
