say man.... why the fuck you coming at me like this? i asked you a simple question and you call me a bitch?

i'll define bitch for you: a BITCH is a nicca who dumps his degenerate dna in a fucked up broad, impregnates her and runs-away from his responsibilities as a father to be a male cheerleader for a company that doesn't know his sorry ass.

Well Gawd Damn!!

And Apple is going to make sure you can't change anything about their products. C'mon man, they soldered the ram to the motherboard in the flagship laptop? I bet you will have to log into iTunes to change the channel on the Apple TV's or some shit. I really hope that somewhere down the line they have some consumer backlash, but alas I doubt it.

Apple stans are like house ninjas.

Boss we sick?

This is usually the case when they release a new product. Theres no competition or sales data to drive the cost of components down. So that first release is usually a risky and expensive one. Remember, the original iPhone was $500, the original Macbook Air was $1800, etc.

Good thing about this is it pushes the entire industry forward (competitors typically scramble to keep up), and as subsequent Apple models are released, things will improve, prices come down, etc..

No they won't for apple. The fucking MBP has bee the same price for all models every update. The updates hardly added anything new most of the time.

I was at work checking out the event online and I imagined what this thread would look like....

More android users in the thread than apple users
"Android has had that since 1986" repeated over and over again
References to sheep, rape, robbery, etc
Dusty wranglers
Child support

BGOL, you never let me down

I see it as them turning all of their product lines into clones of the highly profitable phones and ipod/pad gadgets.

it's great for the bottom line, but no so for innovation and the end consumer.

There is no fucking way you shouldn't be able to add Ram to a computer at your cost. This is exactly the way the ipad/pod are marketed.

After they get away with this, they will go after the high end user and workstation guys. You won't be able to replace a hard drive, add a video card, or ram. It's coming....:smh:

I agree. They are going down a dangerous path.

With the iPhone, iPods, and iPad, it was somewhat acceptable, but now you want to fo as far as trying to control laptop and PC's and homegrown customization and changes?:hmm::smh:

RAM soldered onto the MOBO is some straight bullshit :smh:

That's all I'm saying. That is all i have said bad about Apple.

I would love an iPhone that I could slap a 64g micro sd card in and roll with it.

The same thing with the Ipad. I don't always have access to streaming media (like now) and I've got 80 gigs in my Acer, 40 gigs in my Evo, and 1.25 terabytes inside my 17" laptop.

Well, I have already made up my mind to drag my sister to the apple store so i can use her School discount on a 17MBP before they are all gone. I was hoping that I could get a new one, and add the ram myself.

Oh well. Maybe Google will start making laptops...

Exactly. I don't know why these fuckers think I want my mac desktop to look like a iPhone, iPod or iPad home screen. That's why I did not upgrade to Lion.

The flash storage isn't soldered by the way.

It's removable.

It some kind of blade/stick drive.

The Mac Airs already got replacements http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/SSD/OWC/Aura_Pro_Express.

They look like this

DSC_6534sm.jpg

Prices are similar to traditional SSDs

The flash storage is really fast. It said to have a Samsung 830 controller, so it would be best to wait to see if Samsung or Apple offers uprades down the road.

Ram is the option you may consider to "future proof" on as it is soldered.

Apple does offer upgrades. to got from 512gb to 768gb its $500. Also to go from 8gb of ram to 16gb of ram it's $200. Now you have to remember you can only upgrade the flash storage to 768gb on the top model which starts at $2,799.00 without any upgrades. Just upgrading that brings the price to $3,299.00.

yeah, but the price is almost double that of crucial SSD's. I can get a 512 for $399 on Amazon when the price fluctuates. (It was $398 last week, $420 now) But these dudes are charging $760 for a 480 gig?

I guess you can't be choosy though. I thought that the SSD would be locked onto the motherboard like on the iPad.

No they won't for apple. The fucking MBP has bee the same price for all models every update. The updates hardly added anything new most of the time.

Ummm the initial release of the 15" Macbook Pro was over $2000... The subsequent updates have been spec updates and the prices gradually came down with each update (the same 15" with updated specs goes for like $1700 now).

AND.. Whenever theres a redesign the initial release is typically expensive because they are usually first in the industry introduce it. Competitors sit back and wait. If it starts to sell, they copy the living shit out of it, if it doesn't they double-down on what has been selling previously.

Also keep in mind, Apple has introduced plenty of products that didn't sell, and as a result they killed it within a year or two (Titanium Powerbook, G4 Cube, Apple Hi-Fi, etc.). Each of these were expensive as hell, just like the others. The prices never came down on these because they didn't sell.

But I digress... Just trying to throw a little reality into the convo, do with it as you please homie :D

The gap has widened even further between iOS and Android, and iOS 6 truly makes Android feel like some high school science project on acid that takes place in TRON. Apple’s mobile OS is meticulously thought out, and almost every small feature we’ve been asking for has been added — even ones we didn’t ask for.

Do Not Disturb is a life saver! My iPad on the dock doesn’t light up my bedroom every three minutes at night anymore. Siri on the iPad is an incredibly welcome addition, performing just as well (if not better) than the iPhone 4S. In fact, I’d even say that iOS 6 on the iPad makes the iPad feel more useful to me, and more desktop-like.

Turn by turn navigation is great and the new 3D maps are stunning, though they aren’t available in many places yet. Multiple signatures and VIP in Mail are welcome additions, and here’s something I just noticed earlier this morning… when you update apps from the App Store, the OS keeps you on the app page instead of dumping you out to your home screen — finally.

Safari’s iCloud tabs are incredibly useful, built-in Facebook support works great, and Apple has finally unified Apple IDs and phone numbers, making iMessage that much more useful as an IM replacement.

All in all, there are more than 200 new features in iOS 6 — here are a few you might have missed from yesterday’s keynote:

Decline an incoming call with a pre-written text message letting the caller know you’ll message them in a few minutes
FaceTime over cellular
Offline reading list
Ability to upload photos from Safari to websites
Shared photo streams
Insert photos of videos directly into emails
Redesigned App Store and iTunes store
Lost mode for iOS devices
Personal dictionary syncs with iCloud
Game Center challenges
New features for China
Improved privacy controls with permission to use contacts
Custom vibration for alerts
Ability to use a song as an alarm
Faster Safari javascript
New sharing menu
Location reminders for iPad
iOS 6 doesn’t bring all of the features we want, but in using the OS, it keeps Apple four steps ahead of Android as the leader in the mobile world. And that’s even without a new phone.

The SSD is the one part that could likely wear out in the machine's lifetime, so no they wouldn't do that. Memory for the most part is trouble free once installed, so the chances of it going out in the machine's lifetime is much smaller.

Also, look at Ultrabook memory prices instead of normal SSD prices as ultrabooks typically use a similar (but not electrically compatible) slot. They are at a similar price.

Naw, it's not. That's what influence my decision when I configured my order. As the difference between the 2.3 & the 2.6 quad core is said to be minimal, I decided to sacrifice Storage space and get 16 gigs of ram instead.

I will get larger storage down the road. I will utilize an
external for media & pictures.:

I assume we will see 3rd party flash storage down the road for the new mac. We will also most likely get an option to upgrade our SSD size in the mac store as well, for a price.

Cool, but I'm getting the last 17", put in my own 512 ssd, my own 16 gb or ram, pull out the super drive, put it in a case, add my 750 gb hybrid for storage and then slap on XP in a small partition to run Seimens PLC program to practice compiling.

Fuck I can't wait!!
