'Obama Girl' Amber Lee Ettinger is no longer President Obama's No. 1 fan

Barack Obama has lost one important fan - “Obama Girl.”

Amber Lee Ettinger, the model-actress who became an Internet celebrity after she released a YouTube video in 2007 professing her love for the then-U.S. senator, hints she won’t endorse the President this time around.

“(I’m) not as excited as I was the last time, that’s for sure,” the 29-year-old told The Daily Caller.

Ettinger’s comments are a far cry from the impassioned ode she sang five years ago in “Crush on Obama.”

“You’re into border security, let’s break this border between you and me,” Ettinger sings in the 2007 video. “You can Barack me tonight, I’ve got a crush on Obama.”

In the song, Ettinger refers to Obama’s support of overhauling the immigration system and increasing border patrol agents.

“Crush on Obama” instantly went viral during the 2008 election. It has more than 24.5 million YouTube hits to date.

The one-time "Obama Girl" won’t say who she’s voting for in November.

“If I'm not making videos, I'm not sure it's anyone's business who I'm voting for this time around," Ettinger told The Daily Caller.

Ettinger hinted that her crush wasn’t as strong as it used to be when she released a video asking President Obama to “step up” earlier this year.

“You better step up, cuz I need that man, if my old crush on you was true," Ettinger sings to the tune of “You’re The One That I Want” from the musical “Grease.” "Cuz across the land all our hearts were bet on you."

Last summer, the music video “I Got a Crush on Obama” was a Web hit, splashing a seductive performance by a 26-year-old model named Amber Lee Ettinger across millions of screens and prompting deep thoughts about candidates and sex appeal, the YouTube generation of voters, viral marketing and so forth.

On Tuesday night, City Room ran into Ms. Ettinger at an election-watching party in Greenwich Village and asked how things went at the polls.

“I didn’t get a chance to vote today because I’m not registered to vote in New York,” she said.

So where is Obama Girl registered to vote?

“New Jersey.”

Um, but didn’t New Jersey also hold a primary?

True. The problem, she explained, was that she was sick in New York City and was unable to get back across the Hudson River to the polls in Jersey City.

“I was in Arizona for the Super Bowl — every time I get in the airplane I get sick,” said Ms. Ettinger, who did manage to make it to the Svedka Fembot election returns party at Chinatown Brasserie.

Ms. Ettinger said she had dragged herself out Tuesday night under duress only because she was scheduled to perform at the Bowery Poetry Club. The previous day she had hit the streets of New York to interview voters, where a Daily News photographer snapped her picture on Park Avenue.
