With the impact of her NBC special this past Sunday now clear, it looks as though Adele will score another week at #1, her 24th, tying the record for fourth longest run on top of the album charts with the Purple Rain and Saturday Night Fever soundtracks. West Side Story holds the record for most weeks at #1 with 54, with Michael Jackson's Thriller #2 at 37 weeks. Tied for third place are Fleetwood Mac's Rumours, Harry Belafonte's Calypso and South Pacific, all with 31 weeks. Alan Jackson's 30 Miles West, his Capitol Nashville/EMI bow after many years with Arista Nashville, looks to be the top-charting debut, with between 65-70k, based on one-day reports from whatever retailers haven't paved paradise and put up a parking lot.

The Beach Boys' Capitol/EMI comeback, That's Why God Made the Radio, is the next highest new entry with 60-65k.

Warner Bros. rapper Curren$y's The Stoned Immaculate, featuring Wiz Khalifa, Wale, 2 Chainz and Big K.R.I.T., remarkably, his eighth album since 2009, is on target for 40-45k, the same amount for Def Jam/IDJ hip-hop artist Big K.R.I.T.'s highly anticipated debut, Live from the Underground.

Columbia singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile's Bear Creek looks to be in the 25-30k range, the same as Reprise legend Neil Young & Crazy Horse's collection of folk standards like "Oh! Susanna" and "This Land Is Your Land," Americana.

Fantasy/Concord Music Group's Joe Walsh is looking at sales between 19-22k for his solo effort, Analog Man.

WaterTower's soundtrack for the upcoming '80s hair-metal homage, Rock of Ages, starring Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin and Russell Brand, is eyeing between 12-15k, the same total predicted for Columbia's Victorious, the cast album from the hit Nickelodeon series.

That seems about right considering they don't get much exposure on the TV and radio. They'll make their money on the road.

LMBAO @ Nikki finally going gold. Album was garbage and she doesn't seem to be going back to what she's "best" at musically.

40 k is good for an indie. Not a Major Label on any Planet.

Just saw Curren$y on 106 and Park and Krit had a video in rotation. That audience is Millions....Plus heavy online promo. Gotta cut out the excuses. That is sub par for a Label

C/s! Nikki and gold in the same sentence? Smh..the young so called artist these days got it so easy compared to back in the day

As much free music as Spitta and Krit bless their fans with I wish they would actually go out and support when they put out the official. I bought both, and both of them have big enough fan bases to sell more. Oh well, both of them will still get their dough on the road, Spitta's shows have been packed for his latest tour and Krit is bout to hit the road for his.

Currensy and krit both make more than nikki they aint getting raped by baby and they do mad shows. Krit also produces for damn near everybody. Fuck a major.

This is the standard now. And labels know this. That's why they've cut production costs and are signing artists like Krit and Currensy who are already established and don't need to develop them. 40k is solid first week unless you Jay-Z or Eminem.

K.R.I.T needs a catchier alias for main stream.

I cant even imagine how K.R.I.T would sound being spoken from someone from the north.

And when u try to turn him on to pple u gotta keep saying his name until u just be like fuck it, he hot!!
Acronyms are only catch if they make sense. G.O.O.D Music speaks for itself. No explaination needed.

WTF is a KRIT?? A crispy grit??

what label is currency on now, is it indie cause i recall seein a promo banner and i thought it was a major label logo?

What song represents Currency and Big K.R.I.T the best?

It's kinda hard to put KRIT into one song because he's more diverse than most rappers. He's good at making different kinds of songs and I think that's why people dig him.

Me personally, I like his more serious, personal, reflective songs like "Children of the World" "I Gotta Stay" "Yesterday" "Free My Soul" and this:

If I had just posted songs like that, you would've thought his whole album sounded like that, which isn't the case.

He's also good at making songs that you would ride around to and get you a good mood. They have that traditional southern sound, Outkast, Goodie Mob, Scarface, UGK type of songs - "Temptation" "Hydroplaning" "Ova Da Sky"

Then you got the inspirational tracks, "History Remembers Kings" "Voices" "Something" "Dreamin'"

So...why are they both signed to a label?

strictly for money. they don't need labels they tour year round and release their own mixtapes and get paid without it...

the labels understand this and don't try and mess over them cause they know they can't. the label doesn't stop their show the label is just trying to get a cut of what they've already established.

same shit with whiz.

So...if you can make money without a label. Then why sign with a label and hand over a piece of your money?Doesn't make sense to me. I believe most people go the Indie route because they can't get signed to a label or want a better bargaining position.

So...why are they both signed to a label?

Warnes Bros gave Spitta his imprint Jet Life Records so he can put out music for himself, Smoke DZA, Young Roddy, Trakemark, Fiend.

Spitta's deal is a boss move.

KRIT signed with Def Jam as an artist through Cinematic. Spitta drops shit when he pleases and Warner Brothers gave him the freedom to not compromise his brand.

On that note:
