GTFOH: Pacquiao’s base purse $6 million to Bradley’s $5 million

According to the RingTV twitter, WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao’s base purse will only be $6 million for his June 9th fight against Tim Bradley. This is kind of low as you can imagine, in particular when you compare it to the $32 million guaranteed purse that Floyd Mayweather Jr. received for his fight against Miguel Cotto on May 5th.

Even Cotto came in above Pacquiao’s numbers with an $8 million guarantee to go with the huge upside for the pay per view numbers.

This is what RingTV twitter had to say on the Pacquiao/Bradley base purses: “Lem: According to the Nevada commission – Pacquiao’s base purse is $6 million, Bradley’s $5 million.”

I mean, that’s still a ton of money for a fighter to be getting and I’d love to get that kind of cash. However, when compared to Mayweather’s $32 million base it pales in comparison. How Pacquiao can be getting such a low number is the question. I realize that Mayweather promotes himself, and doesn’t have to share a big amount with his promoter and he also doesn’t have a trainer that he gives huge cash to as well. But there still should be a lot more left over for Pacquiao when you take into all those considerations.

If those numbers are correct then Pacquiao needs to consider promoting himself with what little time he has left in his career. He should cut his losses and promote himself and maybe hire a new trainer at a reduced rate so he can squirrel away as much money as possible in the 2-3 years that he has left in the sport. He could be sorry he didn’t do this later on if he somehow blows all his money and doesn’t have anymore huge revenue streams.

What I don’t understand is how Bradley makes almost as much money as Pacquiao. That doesn’t make sense.

This mufucca wants a 50/50 split, GTFOH!!!

Ok, I don't know about all of the fee structures in boxing, but I am assuming Manny is getting a percentage of the ppv. However, after reading a few articles about how much the fighters/promoters get, it can't be that much. HBO has to get their cut for hosting the PPV. MGM has to get their cut. Then the promoters and managers. So if the fight makes $60 million (about 1 million buys at 59.95). HBO probably gets 30%. It might cost $10 million to promote the fight, Arum gets whatever (let's say 1/3 of what the fighters/promoters are due). Shit man...the most and I mean the most Manny could make on this fight is about $23 million. Okay, that's a lot of fucking money. But damn!!!! And let's just hope he didn't get a few Bob Arum Advances....

Pac is fucking himself over with his business moves and when the PPV buys come out for this dumb ass Bradley fight... They are going to look even worse.

This shit makes no sense. I don't care what anyone says. It ain't even about Floyd. I feel bad for Manny over this bullshit.

Same here, Manny's been a great fiighter for a while and should be getting paid what he's worth. That shit is just disgusting.:smh:

Too Late!! He should have done it back when Floyd went independent. I was telling MoFo's that Pac needs Floyd. Now you see why :yes::yes:

Manny can still get his business under wraps. He is the face of Top Rank and is really holding up that company. He can't say do me the right way or I won't fight? I can only assume that they have major dirt on Pac.

It sure seems that way.

I'm surprised none of you have caught on to the obvious. Anyone that thinks Bradley is truly getting almost the same money as Pacquiao is very gullible. Pacquiao's financial team has been playing a tax game for a while now. Pacquiao is making money for his fights both in the United States and internationally. Steps have been taken to limit the amount he is taxed in the U.S. However, this recent development shows me they're getting sloppy. Bradley getting just a million dollars less than Pacquiao raises eyebrows and calls attention to the situation. I see a very damaging audit in the near future.

And you're gullible to think Pac makes anywhere near what he's worth. If this were the case, the sports 2 biggest stars, Oscar and Floyd, wouldn't have left Bob and Top Rank practically back to back. Manny is being taken advantage of because dude is pretty much just a poor campesino who isn't educated and is easily lead. I doubt Manny even knows precisely what the fuck he even paid in taxes last year.

I never said Pacquiao makes or doesn't make what he's worth. I just said he's not making what's being reported. If you instantly believe everything your read in a newspaper or on a website, then you're the one that's really gullible.

Something is wrong here because this guy doesn't look like he is getting much money of the signing of the fight. He got the same in a purse bid against Mosley...

However, Cotto was guaranteed 8 million in his last fight...this was his highest pre-fight guarantee payout that he had the whole career

Hell, Shane was reported earning 6 mil for his fight against Alvarez...

UPDATE: How can Arum ask for 50/50 or even 60/40 when Manny has never earned 8 mil in one fight?

How does that work? Are you really saying that they are paying this man millions under the table? Arum isn't stupid enough to agree to that type of arrangement. It is more believable for it to be what it looks like.

Not necessarily under the table. I'll put it this way. Tim Bradley getting $5 million and Pacquiao getting $6 million doesn't sound right because that's not what's happening. Even if Bob Arum is fucking Pacquiao, it wouldn't be in such a stupid way. Shit, 5 million would be too much to give to Bradley. Arum or whomever the thief is could probably get away with giving Bradley $2 million and keeping the other $3 million for himself. There is no way that Pacquiao is only making $1 million more than Bradley.

The same goes for those other low "official" amounts that Nevada has on the books for Pacquiao. Pacquiao wouldn't be the first foreign fighter to have funds diverted or funds declared in creative ways in order to avoid taxes by concealing the real earnings.

The problem is if there are creative/legal ways to avoid the taxes... Why not do it with all the money? Explain some of these ways by the way. If anything it would be illegal, but like I said why would Arum agree to that.

This article claims Pacquiao is guaranteed $25 million for the Bradley fight. Now that sounds a little too much to me but it still makes more sense than $6 million for Pac and $5 million for Bradley. As soon as I heard that, I thought "These motherfuckers are gonna get caught" because that shit is just ridiculous.

"His guaranteed purse for his June 9 bout against undefeated American Timothy Bradley is $25 million (Dh91.75 million), according to media reports, with more expected to come from television money which is counted after the fight."

I hope this is the case and that this other report is incorrect.
