I didn't get the goodbye speech either. And with Brock being constantly present while Cena is away things didn't make sense. Either have Brock win and Cena be so disgusted with the way things are going he decides to take some time off, have Brock beat him and Cena does the stretcher job or even give Cena the win and Brock destroys him after the match. The execution of Cena's exit is/was horrible.
They could make up for it by selling the viciousness of the beating and saying he fucked his arm up and has to get surgery.
